Only an ethnic group comprising of a clan and very small geographical area can have a single origin and a single king. Beyond the rhetorics the people who inhabit present day Igboland consist of migrants from 4 directions as well as an earlier settled core whom nobody can establish their origin as its prehistoric and lost.

It is same with present day Yoruba, Ijaw and Hausa.

When Oyo people originally Northerners conquered most of the people who inhabit present Southwest, Ijebu was not conquered hence the term Yoruba does not cover Ijebu despite the similarity in language. Ijebu is not Yoruba in the real sense of ethnicity, kingship or Oyo empire.

Oranmiyan who ruled Oyo as 1st Alaafin was the 2nd son of a migrant from Benin city .
