Hi CO,

I was randomly selected for further processing in the DV 2014 lottery program, my interview was successful and my visa approved in Yaounde but when i went to pick up my visa on the date specified it was never issued. I was informed days later that KCC ran out of visa numbers ( my interview took place on the 16/09/2014 and my CN was AF67***) In December 2015 more than a year later, i wrote to the US government explaining the injustice with my visa application with copies of the letter sent to the White house chief of staff, Speaker of the House, Attorney General, DHS secretary, Secretary of state and the US ambassador to Yde. The US government replied promising to investigate the case, weeks later they replied stating the US law has no provision for the issuance of a visa on a government program that has expired.

I hold a permanent residence status in a European country with wide travelling experiences. I live and work in Cameroon since 2010 but with frequent visits to europe. I am applying for a tourist visa to the US in July to attend the baptism ceremony of my nephew in Seattle. I wish to findout if my application will be considered as an "immigrant intent" considering my previous experience and could the fact that I wrote to the US government be seen as a desperate attempt to immigrate to the US?

Also, filling the DS 160 i was asked if i have ever been refused a US visa before, what should i fill considering that my visa was approved but never issued and that was my first experience with the US embassy.

Thank You

Hello yonghabi,
Having once applied for a diversity visa is not in itself evidence of present immigrant intent. Be prepared to explain the circumstances at the interview.

Good evening V.O:

Thanks for your time.

I was wondering if I qualify for DropBox.

I was issued a 2-year B1/B2 visa.

My B1/B2 was still valid when I applied for an F1 which was denied.

My B1/B2 has now expired (it expired two years ago or thereabout).

Do I qualify for a dropbox for a B1/B2 visa or do I need to attend an interview?

Thanks for your help.

Hello Ayanfejesu,
Good question. The qualifications for Dropbox are that the applicant is applying for the same type of nonimmigrant visa, not more than 48 months after the previous visa expired, and at the Embassy/Consulate of their normal residence.

Dear VO,

What is the visa decision process like? How do you decide whom to issue or not, without checking any documents. I feel the decision is made way before the interview date. I am impressed with the process however. You guys must have some big data analytics or something...

Good work

We do our best to facilitate legal travel and business while also protecting the border. The interview is the most important step in the visa process.

Hello VO,
I renewed my visa for the 2nd time via dropbox. I am pregnant and at the time of renewal ,I studied the website and there was nowhere to state that I was pregnant on the application . My questions are:
1) Do I need to notify the embassy that I am pregnant in a seperate mail
2) or would telling them at the POE suffice and showing evidence that my bills would be paid?
P.S I had my 1st child in the U.S and all my bills were paid.
Thanks

Apply For A Us Non Immigrant B1/b2 Visa After Three Years Ban?

Hello Abuja NIV Nigeria,

It seems I was banned for a three years after an overstay of 3 months in the US and voluntarily returned when my application/petition of L1A with the USCIS in the US was denied and was told to leave. The denial notice came in late February 2011 and my attorney in the US received it and forwarded to me, and I left the US in Mid April 2011.

I decided to to for study for a Masters' degree in the US, which I got all the necessary admissions and Form I-20 for me, my wife and three children then. But going to the Embassy on F1/F2 visa, the Visa Officer told us that since we have won the diversity visa lottery, we should go follow up with it. Unfortunately, within the same month, the Department of State announced that it has canceled ALL RESULTS OF THE DV VISA LOTTERY BECAUSE OF COMPUTER Error. So, I decided to go alone to the Embassy in August 2011 and was refused the F1 visa as the visa officer was confused when she saw the USCIS L1A petitioning denial letter that states since I am out of status (then in late February 2011), I should leave the US, which I did in Mid April 2011. The VO could not read through the USCIS L1A Petitioning Letter and thought I have overstayed up to 6 months.

Thereafter, I applied again in April 2012 for the same F1 visa, but the Visa Officer did not waste any time, but just told me that sorry, we cannot give you visa after she might have seen some flag in my profile. I did not waste time to ask her and have to leave.

Since, April 2012 to now is more than four years. Now I want to go to the US Embassy for a B1/B2 Visa to attend a conference in Texas. Do I need any inadmissible waiver application? If so, is there any official procedure to apply with my interview? All the visa denials, I was handed a form 214(b). So, what do I do now? I supposed then in August 2011, I was banned for three years? My previous expired US Visas were B1/B2

Thanks.
Jerry

You may reapply when you like, but you have to ask yourself if there has been any material change in your life and circumstances since your last interview that might make you a stronger applicant.

Dear VO,

I was wondering if you could advise me. I interviewed for a J1 visa to go train as a psychiatrist in the US. The interview was on the 25th of May at the Abuja post and the visa was approved. Up until today, the tracking website still says that the passport is still with the US embassy. Orientation starts on the 9th of June and its mandatory. Additional information about my case is that I still have a valid F1 visa having just graduated from a masters degree program this spring. I am wondering why it has taken as long as almost 7 business days to get the passport back. Is it possible that the passport has been sent to the GSS location without updating the tracking website? Should I be worried?

Thank you.

Dear VO
I was not interviewed today at Lagos embassy because the DS 160 number on my confirmation page did not tally with that on my appointment page and I was asked to reschedule my appointment.

I want to know if I will need to make another interview fee payment after the two days I was advised to reschedule

Thank you

Hi VO,

I had an interview today but unfortunately i was denied under section 214(b) maybe for no reason or the VO was too tired even to glance through or receive my DS160 application form from me, despite the fact that i had tangible reasons i.e to attend my first child freshman convocation/parent orientation in USA. and i have a very strong tie to my country like owning a multi million naira organization here in Nigeria. i want to know if i can reapply quickly so as to go and celebrate with my first child on his freshman convocation day.
have a nice day.

Dear VO,
I intend visiting the us later this year and decided to start my processing early and got an agent to pay my visa fees already which I assume he did because I saw the bank print out from GT bank but did not collect it from him. Later, we had an issue and he disappeared somehow. Is there anyway I can Retrieve my payment code or slip with my passport number or name to avoid paying another visa fee?

Hi Vo,

My sister filled her ds160 and scheduled an appointment. When she was putting together her printout she realized she omitted a letter in her middle name.

So she filled another ds160 and now she has a different confirmation number to her then confirmation number which she used to book an appointment.

What will you advise her to do to rectify this since her appointment confirmation page is showing the then confirmation number

Thanks

Hi Abuja NIV Nigeria

Thank you for your reply as your reply is useful. However, in all my two refusals, I was handed a normal paper of 214(b) as others were given when refused. It is not a 2149a) or (c), but normal refusals of NIV of 214(b). It is more than 3 years since i was refused last.

I have had two used and expired US B1/B2 visas, before I wanted the F1 visas. But that has passed and I not going for any studies to the US for to attend a conference in Texas.

I am thinking even if I was banned for staying up to 3 months after I received the L1A denial letter from the USCIS in the US, even if I was banned for 3 years (which the visa officer would not tell you, neither would such stated on the refusal letter), the three years has passed and is more than 4 years since then, do I need any lawyer in the US to petition for a removal of inadmissibility before applying and going to the Embassy for a B1/B2 visa or I should just reapply with no needs of all those contacting a US attorney for such 214 (b) refusals and banned for 3 or so years?

Would appreciate your reply again.

Thanks

Jerry
