Still didn't prove you right. Even the writer of the article makes it well-known that him (and many people) are not sure if Ifejuna really committed the crimes or not. He even said that to some people, he's a hero, to others he's guilty and villain. No-one really knows what truly happened but yet you are so sure he's innocent when you didn't even fought the civil war. That the Nigerian army struck Enugu few hours later doesn't absolve Ifejuna of his crime or make him guilty. So I don't get where you are getting evidence from to make sure of facts you know nothing of. What about those that said Banjo and Ifejuna and co reached out to Awolowo and decided to go on a ceasefire (sabotaging Biafra) at Ore which led to NA re-strategizing and defeating Biafra? Is that not a crime punishable by death if it was true? What about Ifejuna murdering Tafawa Belewa? You confidently left out those parts and went for the parts that vilifies Ojukwu out of hate without any credible evidence to prove Ojukwu guilty. Spare me your hypocrisy!!

Answer is simple, capturing the seat of power in Lagos will give him a better bargaining chip. Remember several meetings were held in Ghana and it gave birth to aburi accord which gowon vehemently refused to implement. So had Biafra republic capture Lagos, we would have been celebrating 59yrs this year

Most account suggest that Ojukwu was unsure of who to trust. Why he trusted Banjo to command the Lagos take over, I had researched and still unable to determine why. Most account simply concludes that Ojukwu trusted Banjo. Keep in mind Banjo broadcast after the declaration of Biafra. He was very close to Ojukwu. In war there is fear, suspicion, betrayal etc..

off course Ibo made an offensive move when they were attached from the northern towns of todays cross river state. It was a tactical move at the time to destabilize and detract the federal troop which worked and removed the massive attack launched by the federal troop from that axis. Perhaps if Banjo had continued the match to Lagos, it could have been a different story. For some reason there was really no strong federal troop in this area.

I guess the invasion of the mid west was a tactical decision to keep the federal troop out of Biafra land and strategic objective to win the war

Not so. Please I will advise you read varied account of Nigerian history and the civil war. One thing very consistent in any of these accounts is that the coup plotters were contrary to the celebrated politician- Awo, Zik., Belewa and Abubakar were the true nationalist. The politician played ethnic politics ruined the country and left the country in despair.

these young educated military officers attempted to correct this. most of whom were university graduate from UI and England. They were bright, politically exposed and can understand socio-political and economic dynamics- exactly what university dose to you compared to mere military school. In the words of Babagida, it was poorly executed. they wanted to liberate the western region from the control of Akintola and the prime minister, the UNPD, NNA and NPC, the corruption, the murder, the rigging etc.. They wanted to rid Nigeria of those corrupt elements, release Awolowo who they believed was perhaps the only progressive and make him head of the country. Some argue that Awo socialist ideology had great influence on these young soldiers. Given the failure of AG plan to take topple the government and the treason trial and subsequent imprisonment of Awolowo, they might felt a compulsion to act and complete that purpose. They had good intention but they failed. The same nationalistic spirit was what drove Ifeajuna to seek peace to avert the death of many. unfortunately, he lost both ways. He was the ideologist behind the January 1966 coup

You're wrong cause that action happened at the beginning on the war. In 1967 so had it worked and chased the hausa-fulani away lives would have been saved and Nigeria would be a better place for it. But a traitor was entrusted with this task.
