Hello All
I have read through this thread and I must say that is really helpful but I still have some questions to ask. My intention is to apply for permanent visa to Canada but with all have read I think Tourist Visa is the easiest. If I apply for Tourist Visa and they grant it, what is the next process to take for me to get the permanent visa. I work with a financial institution here in Nigeria

Your bsc in pet. Eng and your proposed meng in env. Please make sure your sop explains and links it very very very well.
Try and show your relationship with your uncle. Maybe a name change or through marriage.
If no job currently what did you fill I'm on your study permit form. Did you write unemployed?
Does your uncle have a family he's still cupporting or he's using his company to support your studies so that you'd come back and when for him.

Check University Of Manitoba and University of Ottawa.
Those schools are cheap for graduate studies.

Your last two years GPA is very important for University of Manitoba. You should have minimum of 3.0/4.0 in the last two years of study.

If you're self-sponsored then you should consider having $10k in addition to your tuition fee.

Most graduate schools in Canada offer either fellowship or teaching assistantship as scholarship. You should consider applying on time to be eligible for scholarships.

Try to apply for thesis masters if you're looking for scholarships. Course based masters don't usually attract scholarships.

University of Ottawa offers 15k Cad as scholarship mostly for thesis master students.

Their tution range from 6k-7k cad for a session.

Your supporting documents are very important.

Depending on yourprogram; you'll need the following;

1. Statements of intent

2. Research proposal (500words for u of Ottawa)

3. Two reference letters depending on your program.
Maximum of 3.

4. Your CV

5. Official transcript.

Your cgpa is important but what is more important is your cover letter or letter of intent, with that you can explain why you had bad grades in one or two semesters.

Your research proposal is also very important. Work on it very well. Make sure you check departmental website to see if the institution has a supervisor that is vast in your area of research interest. Cos if they don't have supervisor in your area of interest, no matter how high your cgpa is or how sound your research proposal is, you would be denied admission.

It happened to me, I was denied admission to u Of Manitoba cos the department was unable to secure a supervisor that was ready to take me.

So make sure you contact a potential supervisor. Tell him your research interest. Show him that you're passionate about it .

Finally pray to God.

I hope I am able to help.

Opinions of others gurus like justwise, haqinsfxb are needed on this too.

Bro,must the official be sent from my school? Can't I send them my own copy of my transcript? Then submit the main one from school to them later.

For u of Ottawa it has to be the official transcript sent directly from your school before they can even review your application for admission.

For u of Manitoba you can upload your own copy when they offer you a provisional admission they will request for an official copy from your school.

Thanks for your comment.

I have explained the shift from pet to environmental I hope it will suffice. no way to prove relationship to sponsor cuz of lack of document. sponsor has two kids 2$5yrs old. sponsor doesn't have a business just small investment and retirement benefits which is huge. I filled unemployed.

my fear is more on my sponsor statement of account balance although there is huge inflow and outflow I'm still not satisfied by the balance
