Yeah. ..I can also testify to that coz l have been searching for a while now before l decided to probably go with Humber.
In terms of experience, I abt 3years banking experience that can be related to that course (Global Business Management ). But my only concerns is only if me going to Humber college won't be an issue. I don't know how the embassy sees Humber College as a school especially their graduate certificate programs and also don't know if anyone in my similar profile has ever obtained trv vivia Humber College.

Please your contribution will also be highly appreciated.

The visa refusal rate for Humber college is high from what I saw on this thread. Maybe is because is a community college or better Reason know to the VO

Ranking matters a lot, I agree. But only to an extent.
If you are looking to do a research-based degree, then ranking is very important. Ranking may still not tell you about the strength of an institution in your specific area of research though. For example, a school ranked #50 globally may be better at electrical engineering than another school ranked #15 globally. If you are not into doing research, then global ranking is not as relevant. These rankings are almost exclusively based on research and academic publications NOT teaching quality.

Ranking does matter if you do care about school name recognition though; name recognition can help when you are looking for a job especially if your job search is not limited to the city where your school is located. But in some cases, a lower ranked school may have much a more practical education and a lot more connections with industry, thus potentially making it easier to get a job.

Ranking is not the be-all end-all. A school where you are most likely to succeed is almost always the best option.
Also keep in mind that ranking won't necessarily tell you about what academic resources would be available at the school. Many average ranked schools have a whole lot of resources and more than comfortable facilities; these schools have brilliant professors and students too.

**I schooled in a globally unranked university and thereafter at a top-30 globally ranked university (both in the US).
BarrEgo:
Guys, do not be deceived. Ranking is everything in Academia. Universities and colleges get funding because of their ranking - which is judged based on scientific/technological equipments, library resources and quality of staff and students' research. That is why highly ranked universities (Harvard, Utrecht, Toronto, SFU, Oxford, Ottawa, etc) are highly competitive. They seek for the best minds to keep and/or grow their ranking. Top universities like Ottawa and co do not admit mediocre minds, even if there are a thousand institutions in their locality. That said, Ottawa cannot be compared to Memorial. Ottawa ranks 12 in Canada and top 300 in the world, while memorial ranks 24 in Canada and top 500 in the world. (See http://www.webometrics.info/en/North_america/Canada).
Furthermore, tuition fees often depend on the amount of funding a department or program receives. Departments with focus in Social Healthcare research like disability studies, aging studies/gerontology, etc are currently receiving lots of funding so postgrad research programs in these are "cheap". Memorial is "cheap" - $800-1,300 a term for postgrad programs because they're a research focused Uni and receive lots of findings for research. Be wise in your assessments of foreign universities. Do not underestimate any program or school. Bless!

True words. However, my post was a reaction to earlier conclusions that ranking doesn't determine a school's competitiveness/admission rate. As someone studying a double degree at a top 50 university and a not so top (top 500) university, I would advise that applicants/prospective students do their research regarding departmental ranking, courses/modules/subjects offered and profiles of academic staff. Only then can one know if the program is in line with one's career goals.

Hello house, pls I need urgent assistance with this.

I submitted my application last Friday 10/06/2016 via paper route and linked it online the next day. Then did upfront medicals the following Monday 13/06/2016 cause of time constraints as my program starts 07/09/2016. The lady advised that I should have waited to include the e-medical form with the application as an upfront but since I already submitted, I should find a way to send the e-Medical form across to the embassy to avoid them sending for medicals later on and the time delay.

Any idea how I can get the e-Medical form across? uploading it via my online account perhaps though I can't seem to figure out how

Hey guys,

Can anyone advise if I can use a sponsor who doesn't bear my surname. If that is possible how do I go about it? I know the information will be on this site somewhere but I believe someone can bail me out quickly on it.

Cheers!!!

since you didn't do the medical before you submit your application, you have to wait till you are called for medical. There are two options for medical, is either you do upfront medical or you wait till you are called to do so.

You will still need her account statement since she have enough balance in the account apart from the 6 million naira. Let her state it in her letter that she has transfered cash needed in Canada to your account.

I can't say for sure. Its up to the admissions committee. They will access your application - read/evaluate your statement of purpose or research interest, access your work experience, courses taken at undergrad with grades, and see if you're a fit for the program. I advise you make sure to follow the application process to the letter. Ask if there are bridging courses/program to enhance your chances. Write them if you have questions or reservations; they always reply. Best wishes.

Good morning to everyone in the house and wishing us all a wonderful week.

Please I would like to have some clarity here, I got refused based on insufficient fund, employment prospects and personal asset last February. After requesting Gcms note, the vo said, considering the economic status of the country, there is limited employment prospects for a student to going for bachelor of arts and social sciences. Therefore I have changed the course now to bachelor of management, do you think it is necessary for me to explain in my sop that I have been denied visa I the past for limited employment prospects but in this one I have changed it to business management or I should not talk about it because the vo already knows I have changed the course?

And secondly, I worked in my uncle shop during the time I wasn't attending school for 5years, but the enterprise got registered in June 2015 though it existed since 2010 but wasn't registered please can someone give me idea on how to address this? If it were you, what would you have said or why wasn't the enterprise or company registered since, what can I say here? As we are all naija here we know how tinzzz dey go.

Well I have a Mass Comm background, but went for some IT trainings in India and a ccna certification. Looking to write at least 4 or 5 more before applying to Canada, US or Australia. Would this suffice?

Yet to apply for IT Security, still waiting for funds and a clear cut decision
