nonsense. Those 143 naira have a pump that will give you half of a litre
Not necessarily. Azman oil in Gwarinpa sell at N143 and they perhaps have the best pumps in FCT

Even at #145 per litre, some Petrol filling stations adjust dispensing machine to operate less than the standard set for volume of petrol per litre.
For example: you pay for 20 litres, you get 15 litres equivalent. That's a rip off.

I got the info alright bro. And I'm into the petroleum downstream sector too. That is why I first raised the issue of competitive market. If NNPC is made to sell at N130 or N135, private owners of service stations are only after profits and at d same time if NNPC reduces theirs they are still trying to consolidate the masses, which is still one of the responsibilities of government. So don't get me wrong. It's not only you that passed through school, so many people also did; Thanks.

Why is it that Nigerian capitalists don't like competative markets? They have been so used to excess profits. Any marketer should be free to sell at their own price but it should not be more than N145 is the directive of federal government. NNPC is government owned, so if they sell lower than N145, it's still part of sacrifices that are meant to be paid to the masses by government.
Please, where is the competition?

Somebody is ordered to sell at a certain price and you call that competition? huh huh huh

SMH for the kind of people who present themselves as intelligent beings. cry cry cry

They want us to do panic buying at N145, e no go work this time as people dont even have the money to panic buy. Ndi ara! grin

This marketers should be more concerned about under dispencing by their members.

In Abuja the 3 most reliable petrol stations:
1. NNPC mega stations at Central Area and Kubwa expressway.
2. Yaman filling Station at Area 3 Garki
3. Conoil opposite NNPC headquarters

Baddest under dispensing stations in Abuja
1. Conoil at Area 1 Garki
2. Iluobe 'fake' NNPC mega station at Wuse market
3. Forte Oil at Maitama adjacent NUC and opposite Hilton Hotel
4. All Total filling stations
5. All Mobil filling Stations
If in doubt ask any taxi driver
I thought FO maitama has the best pump ever

'Unthinking government'

How can you force mega filling stations to sell at N130?

Wouldn't that cause hoarding and diversion to black marketers who would rather sell at N145?
Thereby making excess profit of N15 on each litre sold?

I've never seen any policy as dum.b as this in my entire life.
I don't think so sir. The so called black marketers get it cheaper than N130 /litre so they can't buy from the Mega stations at that price. And the Mega stations would be foolish to sell at less than N130 just to cause a scarcity.

Whether they like it or not competition is here and it's going to be difficult for them to impose an artificial fuel scarcity.

In time things will fall in their rightful place.
God bless Nigeria

Thought they said competition will force down prices in ONE MONTH...ECONOMIC NONSENSE
I have ZEROED my mind to withstand all the hardship that comes with this APC led Govt. as long as am still in Nigeria.
When the new price regime was announced i clarified that it will be nearly impossible for prices to go down,CAPITALIST INVESTORS in the oil and gas industry demand the maximum profit possible and yet they want to incur minimal cost insisting to be sold dollar at CBN rate through approval of their letters of credit...HEARTLESS PEOPLE
Re: Fuel Scarcity Set To Hit Nigeria Again.. by simplynola(m): 1:29pm On Jun 15, 2016
Fools. Why compete with lesser marketers when you can work with turnover. All because you want the whole gain to your pockets. You can as well shut down your stations we don't care anymore, Nigerians have developed thick skins after the last scarcity experience.

From what is being said, it appears they all buy from the same Depot (NNPC). If they can bribe and even buy at a lower price than official one, it shows that the profit margin between the actual price and 145 is really big. When you have a huge gap, just like official and blackmarket rate of dollars, corruption thrives.

Best thing to do is to bridge the gap which is what NNPC is trying to do with the 130 rate. 145 was fixed as people claimed they would source for dollar independently. If they now all go to the same NNPC to load, then why are we still paying 145?

Re: Fuel Scarcity Set To Hit Nigeria Again.. by willibounce1(m): 2:36pm On Jun 15, 2016
Lol. Go to the so called mega stations and see how the fuel attendants are standing in a pitiable manner waiting for customer to come and buy fuel. In fact if you go to some stations, you will have to ask if they are opened cos everywhere looks deserted. They are telling the mumu ppl to reduce their price and them dey do strong head. Why not sell at 135 and have more customers, make that quick little profit and have fast turnover. Na greed go kill them
Re: Fuel Scarcity Set To Hit Nigeria Again.. by chiscodedon(m): 2:40pm On Jun 15, 2016
they are stupid, they should be dulling while the business oriented main marketers over take them
as am posting now, in calabar, NNPC, Northwest filling stations sell at #140.

can ask to confirm

Now I realise you dont tend to sound like a gentleman I thought you were. Why is simple English so difficult for you to understand? My first point was that the most of the capitalists firms frowns at competitive markets (They were used to selling above pump price when it was N87, some sold a litre for N200 and above). The competitive market is helpful to Nigerians but in some ways reduces the margin of profits. If you sell at N140 and I sell at N145 yet we got our products from same source. Definitely, I will be making more profit than you do. If NNPC makes sacrifice of selling below estimated part, I see it as sacrifice meant to be paid by government to the masses or is government not suppose to be supportive to the masses in one area atleast. Next time use your brain before you quote someone or better still don't quote me if you have difficulty in understanding English. Didn't you read this section of the op post before writing thrash, you must be daft academically The association claimed that Ibe Kachikwu, the Group Managing Director (GMD) of NNPC, had directed that all mega filling stations sell fuel at varying rates of N130.00, N135.00, N140.00 per litre, while their competitors sellat N145 per litre.

No it isn't

If the big companies see the local Nnpc mega station doing better business than them, they would drop prices to eat into nnpc share of market and nnpc in turn would cut prices.

That is competition.

(Right now, my local Nnpc mega station has longer queues than the marketers.Because people love lower prices.)
It is very simple, if the Mega Station owners claim they are buying at the same price as the independent marketers and will not sell at NNPC directed price, then they should pull out of NNPC mega station and go back to the their former status as independent marketers. Come to think of it, if they claim they are not enjoying anything as NNPC Mega Station Owner, then why not withdraw from it?

Our problems are self inflicted cos of greed, even an independent marketer near where i live sells at 143 so what's the problem with these nnpc mega stations.

May thunder fire these guys eeven at140 they are making huge profit yet they prefer fuel scarcity so they can sell at 200 and above.

May God punish them and their families for their greed.
Scarcity is not fuelled,it can be created or caused, but crisis can be fuelled.
Oya send me airtime for this correction.

Best post yet. It is not by force to be an NNPC Mega station. Simply pull out of the franchise if it doesn't pay you.

Didn't see where the policy meant non profitability for them rather they are at advantage for more sales and swift turnovers.
Mega means that they have capacity for larger volumes thus benefitting from the economy of scale.
I think it is sheer greed on their part. Government must speed up efforts to enhance and sustain local refining and end these excesses.
