Hmmmmm, mrphysics i accept your appraisal of Kano social infrastructural development just because you have stayed there, i don't know if you have been to Kadunna, am not saying this categorically because i have not been there myself but from information from my northern friends that have been in the two states and as well my lecturer, a Jos man said the same about Kadunna being the same, this my lecturer have been to all northern states and more than 30 states of the country, i won't forget how he compared the two states before coming to conclusion. Mrphysics, i sell at shopping center Aba and have many northern customers and friends and i have tried to find out from them and to a very large extent, they said Kadunna is far more beautiful than Kano but that Kano is very rich, no wander 80% of them comes from Kano. I have stayed in Bauchi and while there, I asked some of my northern friends and they all said i should not even compare Kadunna beauty with any northern city, not even Jos talk more of Kano. So let me ask you sir, have you stayed in Kadunna?

My friend bleep off and stop trying to derail this thread abeg. You have not been to either Kano or Kaduna...so shut up and listen to the person who is telling the story, at least he is presently in Kano...ahhhhhr!

You are welcome sir. First, you are exempted from the cutting of hand. the reason is that in Kano state, the only and supreme criteria to date or marry a Muslim is that you must be in same faith. Infact, my Hausa friend, khadijah told me of recent that we can't marry because am not a Muslim but we can only share love. They are lots of places where you can do your PPA in Kano, but the truth is, they may hardly require the service of a lawyer. I have seen only few courts in Kano. But they are Islamic and sharia legal schools where you can law. Lol.

About the rent bro, it depends, for places like sabongari, one of my friend got a room for 70k, but for a core Muslim local governments, it's far cheaper. Like the one I live, it's very cheap but a lady will never visit you.

one thing I noticed is that a great number of people do not speak English, I have met with the big and small ones, many of them don't speak or understand English and as such communication was and is a barrier. I have seen keke napep carry me round Kano state because he didn't understand and I don't know my way. I have seen restaurant people serve me wrong food due to language barrier. I have told my H.O.D that there is no how they will continue to speak Hausa to this students in school and expect them to be perfect in English. my class rep have sent me funny messages with wrong written basic English, I would have loved to post a snapshot of it but for security reasons no.

A student have written on top of his scrip "Sir, your are not registration number sir", meaning," I don't have registration number sir". Other funny messages I have read and have in my phone is ones that read: "please sir, we don't have free tomorrow. sir, my ba3 is dangerous. OK sir, thank" etc.

indeed language have been a barrier. we must have issues when we want to buy something. when we want them to help us at the borehole, etc. they are deeply engrossed in Hausa speaking. They are comfortable with it.

@mrphyscis, others like myself who can categorically call themselves Sons and daughter's of the soil, having lived there for more than a decade due to migration or by birth(like myself) are trying to correct some your wrong claims, owing to the fact that you're still a JJC who is yet to master the city's workings, but it appears you are an arrogant fellow who thinks nothing outside his shallow opinion that have so far proved to lack insight, counts.

I initially wanted to over-look some of the many wrong claims you put forward and just enjoy the story cos I thought "Oh well! He's just new in town" but i started having second thoughts when you,a Johnny Just come, started speaking with authority on a land you happen to be very ignorant about in so many ways. What arrogance!

And you should be expecting more replies debunking most of your claims cos nobody will sit down and watch a place they call home get riddled with misconceptions.

You call yourself a physicist, so it's really no surprise that your actions so far, have gotten you a reaction from the viewers that is in line with the laws of physics,as seen in Newton's law of motion "For every action, there is an equal but opposite reaction" .

On a final note, i advise you let not whatever anyone(including myself) have said so far, to kill your zeal to continue this story because if you do, we wont get to the part where you nyashed that hausa babe, and that happens to be a VERY sacrosanct part of this story that has been fuelling my motivation all along. wink

A very important to note, pple plz while we advice OP not to give a wrong impression about kano state, which know some of his assumptions are wrong, let's try understand with him while we correct such assumptions and advice him on how to tour the city to educate himself the more.

OP has not even toured 5% of kano state, that's a fact, but let's not kills his wish to explore the state with harsh criticism.
If you tour this state well, believe me you will be the 1 correcting pples impression down southon ur return

its just very irritating to the senses some of his write up. i was looking forward to reading about kano-good or bad- from a graduate but most of what is being written is about what he's heard in the village.

the best thing would have been to either write this after nysc or after several months in the state.

in fact i now know why Nigeria is not developing with a closed attitude like his

I can't believe I read all ten pages of this thread.

I think OP wanted to write a fictitional entertainment story, not really something based on the truth. Where he made a mistake was insisting that he was telling the truth even when he knew he wasn't. He could have just added a disclaimer saying he is writing for entertainment only that would have saved this thread.

Even me sef that has never been to Kano found it hard to believe the part about cutting hands off, haba, kilode?
Na that time I stop to dey take the thread serious.

Lier of the centuary, if kano boys step on this thread, they would atleast teach you how to behave as a stranger and respect your host community. This writeup is misleading and there is no iota of truth in almost all what he was saying, it is obvious that you allowed bigotry and religious sentiment to becloud your sense of judgement. Please stop parading the good people of kano as extremists and they lack tolerance and finally don't bring your adultered culture to our environment, we are people of excellent moral standard our ladies are not like your fucking sluts intruded by thousands walking half naked.

Don't mind the op.
Imagine a mosque between every five houses? not even in Saudi Arabia will you see such.
your attempt at describing kano is like that of a man who tries to describe the sea just by observing a droplet of water.

So your aim is to bastardise the children of other people without seeing anything wrong with it because you're so educated and well civilized.
If that is so, well, i can't blame us for being overprotective.

You think You're so educated yet you believe whoever doesn't knows how to speak good English is an illiterate. Pardon me saying that, that's a slave mentality.
if you've the time and means try and travel around the world to places like Japan, China, Russia, India, to see how wondrously intelligent they are yet they barely speak English.
However, if you still resolve to keep your induced idea of education then I will agree you're just another indoctrinated robot.

For saying that no.religion is better than another shows that you're a hypocritical asshole#, (I'm sorry to say that). if not, then time you go to church do endeavor to preach to your brethren that their religion is no better than that of the terrorists and senseless islamiyya pidophiles.

I'm a northerner bro, a hausa-fulani man from Kano. don't assume I'm a Muslim.

I will advise you; you truly wish to understand northerners and their ways you need to remove your judgmental googles you wore from the south, see the north through the northern eye, befriend their males too. then you'll understand why and how.

Empty your cup!

blackjack no mind the idiot. The guy painted my city and people black and blue mehn. I'm from Kano city. I am not less educated, neither did I first attend an islamiyya school before proceeding to nursery school.

You people love making baseless and silly comparisons. Now how many states have you visited in the north? Kano and Kaduna are developing in the same pace, you can't clearly say which is more developed than the other. The conservative nature of kano should be the only thing that might differentiate it from Kaduna. And another thing is that Kaduna residents are a little bit more exposed than their kano counterparts. Again, while kano is the centre for commercial activities, Kaduna happens to be the centre for knowledge. These just just the notable differences between the two northern cities

You must attend from PRI 1 to 5 Islamiyya school? So kano educational system is different from Nigerian educational system.

I was born in kano and brought up in kano. I stated Playgroup one when I was just only three years. And the Islamiyya you termed as primary school, its being attended mostly in the evening and night, so how does it interfere with Primary school.
