Hi, I'm about rounding up my Bsc in Statistics with Computer Science from Uniben. Being a part time student, I had the opportunity of working for 2 years with an NGO in Benin promoting women's reproductive health. After that I did a short consultancy for PPFN in Benin.

Working with NGOs involved in the public health sector is very interesting as you have the opportunity of learning on the job and in the field. With policies and rapid population growth, this is becoming an evolving sector where skilled professionals will be needed in great demand.

There are so many possibilities so I encourage everyone out there, as much as you're concerned in making an impact for a better world, get into the public health sector and see where your impact will be felt the most.

First question; Environmental Health, Global Health, Epidemiology & Statistics, Health policy management.

2nd question: Yes FUTO, Unsure Unical,

I don't know what you mean by uni Ugo or you mean uni Uyo, which I'm unsure of too.

I have no idea when it closes. There is a department for nutrition @ UCH.

The registration is supposedly closing on the 20th of this month. However, if you've paid your form fee on or before the stipulated date, you can continue your registration after the date.
They're likely going to extend the date because there were some days the reg page was down and no one could register.

Hi Etinosajay, I'm really impressed by how you answer questions on this thread, you've done a very good job. I applied for Epid and med stats last year too but I could only make it to the departmental test. I realised you made it to the interview, how was it like?

Then I wonder why anybody who passed the departmental test would fail that. I want to give it another shot myself but I just want to make sure I prepare well. What are you reading?

Economics? 2.2? 3rd class

Most likely impossible.

To get into most streams of MPH, you need a degree in Sciences, Paramedicine, or related. Moreso, you need a degree with good standing, and 2.2, 3rd class is not.

Can i go for a PGD in any health related course to enable me go for Masters in Public Health? and if yes which course do u suggest i i go for.
Thanks

The interview wasn't a pass or fail thing. It was about impressing the panelists, however possible.

Remember they pruned down from 15 to 10 supposedly.

I dropped a clue on what to read before

- Disease triad
- probability
- basic statistics
- history, transmission, control, and prevention of common diseases of public health importance.

Hi, please I'm a graduate of Microbiology with an interest in MPH in Health Promotion and Education in UI. I just completed service with no work experience. In the UI prospectus, it is said that the mph is both professional and academic in nature, and that candidates must have adequate working experience that is health related acquired during or after nysc. The only thing close to that is that I partook in health campaigns and free testing as part of cds activities. Does this even count

I keep getting cold feet as to whether this can make my application 'watery' or lacking substance. I'd be really grateful to receive insight on this. Thank you

Go ahead with your application. I think you're qualified to apply. The rest is up to your preparations.

First you write the English test, then the departmental test, then take the oral interview.

See what to expect up in my last reply

I really don't know much about some of the schools outside South West and to my knowledge, no school offers "PGD" in MPH before Masters here.
If cpga is his concern, I think he should look at another faculty or back up his application with work experience because my enquiries have shown me that MPH courses are very competitive.

Bros, is this also applicable to the UI M.Sc Epidemiology. So it's really that fiercely sought after?
