Please leave a sitting governor alone. Let his office be sacred. Leave him alone to govern without interferences. When he comes out investigate and prosecute him. What is the essence of investigation when you can't prosecute. Let him enjoy his immunity while he has it. If he has immunity it should include investigations. Let a sitting governor be. |

Ayekooto Akindele wrote Fayose can shoot and kill someone. You can take the gun away from him to avoid multiple murder but you cannot arrest or charge him to court. You can arrest a man who Fayose used his hand to appoint. That person may even indict him but you cannot arrest or charge him to court. Fayose can go to Benin Republic to smuggle contraband goods, you can only seize the goods not Fayose. When Fayose launder money, you can arrest the money but not Fayose. That is immunity! But Spotless Hotel can be sued. It's an entity. Accounts can be frozen. And on the day he hands over the government, he can be arrested immediately and prosecution can start. |

amtaken:Even though other lawyers quoted a supreme court ruling that clearly indicated the EFCC has not done anything wrong . Buhari government is only doing things according to law. Instead of fayose to prove any allegation agiainst him he is busy chasing shadows . People will only have sympathy for him if he is clean |

the APC is obviously setting very bad precedent in Nigeria, a situation that is capable of causing serious turbulence in this country. there is nothing wrong investigating a sitting Governor but where due process is not followed it makes mockery of the constitution of the country. this is purr witchhunt n move to silence an opposing voice. Pmb better watch your back |

This Ozekhome where did he read his law? he cannot differentiate between prosecution and investigation when it comes to the application of immunity. Tomorrow he will say the children of a sitting governor cannot be investigated or prosecuted because their father enjoys immunity. |

amtaken:As a lawyer you would know that a freezing order is not a final adjudication or forfeiture of assets but an action taken to maintain the " res" or substance of a possible and future case. The argument is that should the res be compromised the substance of the case will be compromised. It is highly likely that the account will will released in a few days after the EFCC might have taken a historical snapshot of all lodgements, the source of those lodgements and disbursements. One of the benefits of BVN, nothing is hidden. |

God bless you Ozokhome, Don't mind those APC lawyers... Let them keep deceiving Nigerians... Can EFCC also freeze Buhari or Osibanjo's account? Since both the president and Governors enjoy the same immunity. Tyranny is still running in Buhari's blood but I'm sorry, its democracy and you must Obey the constitution which is supreme... |

I investigated Fayose personally underground,i learnt the dude is into serious Real Estate with over 118 houses in Lagos alone and has more in order areas. 1. Should the EFCC not ivnestigate people's source of funds before moving to freeze the accounts? I'm not saying this lodgements comes fro his investments but just incase to accused is guilty, should the court not determine whether one is innocent or guilty ? 2. Should Governors be stripped of immunity or should they be squeezed into silence becos someone doesn't like them,if i were Buhari i would concentrate on a few more important things like rising uneployment and soaring lack of industrilization, currency valuation, national image rebranding and his health most importantly, all of these are more deserving than Fayose South East Nnamdi Kanu Niger Delta. Are we aware the constant adjournment of cases would mop up costs equivalent to the cost that would be retrieved thru this process and all of these won't even heal the nation but cause more divisions in the country ? I bet some people aren't thinkin straight cause i struggle to know if people have properly defined the role of EFCC in the country... But i'm sure Tinubu and Alpha Beta receive similar huge lodgements as Fayose's account,if you would like to know, check the petition from CACOL against Tinubu and his companies. We the truth seekers stand for a country with truth and justice and not half justice or half truths.. Off to work |

| Re: Why We Froze Gov. Fayose's Account - EFCC by andyanders: 9:35am On Jun 21, 2016 |
It’s illegal — OzekhomeOzekhome, you got it wrong. His account can be frozen if there is any suspicious transaction to the said account of any sitting governor. If what Ozekhome is saying that the freezing of any sitting governor's account is wrong, then he is encouraging every sitting governor or president to steal. If they cannot be checked while in office, then they can steal the nation dry. People like Ozekhome, should stop encouraging evil whereby our leaders sit under the umbrella of immunity to steal the nation dry and immediately they are out of office, with the kind of money they have stolen, they can buy a corrupt Supreme Court Judge over and will walk away. I support what EFCC is doing and Ozekhome is not more learned than other legal practitioners who has spoken in support of what EFCC is doing right now. The EFCC of today is not like the past one. Nigerians should support them in fighting corruption. When we hear the volume of the amount of money government officials steal, you start wondering what they want to do with that volume of stolen wealth of which they will die come one day. The amount they have taken out of this country cannot be traced again when they die. Let them be checked now and with that, they will be very careful to be involved in such kind of crime that they see nothing wrong in this country. 98% politicians go into politics these days because of stealing government money as they see it as free money. |

Oklander:Do you really understand what a constitution means? If its documented in it that Immunity clause covers both the president and Governors, it must be obeyed. It is supreme and every citizen of Nigeria is a subject to it. Ozokhome quoted what's obtainable in the constitution... Are you telling me that Buhari is a saint and has never done a shady deal? He said he was poor prior to Election, please can you check his account now? That is why EFCC often trail them at the end of their tenure, let's be sensible sometimes jare. |
