the fact that its not osun state high school or ansarudeen salaudeen or something of some sorts debunks ur claim, so whether it is funded by the state government or not, tge fact remains its a christian school and as far as I'm concerned Christians should also have their claims.... this hijab thing is not supposed to be a do or die thing

If Osun clerics are not trying to be mischievous tell me why this is not the case all over the country? Why don't they go to court and say all Muslim girls should wear the hijab to school all over the country?

The worm called religion has eaten deep into the structures of the society that people are drunken in its stupidity. Drawing tribal lines is not enough that the religious associations choose to now use the leaders of tomorrow as their pawns in their never ending game of gimmicks. Very stupid set of people. That the church is having more say than the state show that there is a very weak and vulnerable structure in place

Sadly, this isn't new. Its been like this for a while now. I believe resolving this issue will have to involve a lot. Religion is a very potent thing, in the minds of Nigerians.

How's the Ramadan going?

I actually don't like aregbesola but this hijab thing doest have anything to do with him directly. it was a court order. All Christians has to do is to appeal the judgment. those clerics went to far. if u want your daughters to wear hijab pls take then to surajudeen ausarudeen Muslim college etc not a christian named schools.
In as much as i agreed with you on certain point i still believe that it was RAUF that causes this mess he influence the judgement

I think you need to read some sections of our constitution, is the right of the Muslim students to wear Hijab as well as the right of others to do theirs! What's is the basis of this your comment then?

Calm down bro, there is nothing like christian or muslim public school in Osun anymore, they all agreed the merger and same uniform policy introduced by the state government. Just because its name weren't changed doesn't make it christian school.ok? I would implore those suggesting muslims children to vacate and go to a muslim school to av a rethink, any pure muslim school or a pure christain school in osun state of today wud be a ''PRIVATE SCHOOL'' in which few can afford. When u start seeing hijab as Muslima ways, in which no restriction to where muslim lady shouldn't use it, unlike Celestial that only do way with shoes wen on garment, chiorister on robe wen singing, Nuns on hijab wen u ar Nun, while pentecostal churches cud dress up in panties (anyhow) etc...Simply Hijab is how a MUSLIM WOMEN, LADY,GIRL should appear. Stop teaching those children bigotry. Thanks, never meant to rude sir.

Wow. Clap for yourself.
You, my dear sir, are obviously ignorant of the facts on ground, and someone corrects you but you still insist on holding on to the wrong position?
Once again, clap for yourself. You have done well.

It is worrying the trend we notice these days, where our young (and not-so-young) people are comfortable with going with social media "news". The need to study and research on subjects is so alien to them, that most are too lazy to read a 5-page newsletter talk less of reading a book. It's sad. A nation that does not read is on it's way to ruin. Just like the Bible says "my people perish, for a lack of wisdom (knowledge)".

This is really pathetic how some elements would just wake up n try to distabilze a peaceful coexistence being enjoyed in the state for some many yrs.

What is the rationale behind banning of Hijabs in schools of the southwest state? Is there any terrorism intelligence report? Why wake up one day n start causing havoc in schools?

This is really sad n I hope the Governor can just call up a stakeholder meeting in order to arrest the situation.

Illiterate girl, so you think because the school is named "St. Charles" makes it a christian school, for your information , the school is a government school and not a christian school, the government realized that most of these schools have secretly agendas of trying to convert Innocent students to Christianity and since then they have been in war with the government
Why didn't your Islamic Governor change the name of the school from "St Charles" to "Bleep Government college" He can substitute the Bleep with anything. Let's face it, Aregbesola has a hidden agenda but he will FAIL.

Without women, religion would be boring.
From Hijab to virginity, to makeup, bra, servitude, in short, women in religion makes men feel like mini gods.
Take away women and religion would be dry and boring. No more rules to enforce.

I KNOW THE CHRISTIANS WILL NOT OBEY THE COURT INJUNCTIONS AND THEY WILL BE THE ONE SHOUTING RULE OF LAW.!

@ Yemi Adeleke, I am not a big fan of Aregbe but I can confirm to you that his hands are clean in this matter. If anything, his govt has served the interest of Christians than Muslims in terms of appointments and financial assistance. Lemme mention some:
1. His appointments, commissioners and Special advisers were skewed in favour of Christians 75-25%

2. He donated #30million to OSUN Baptist for the construction of their auditorium.

3.Another #35million for the burial of late Obadare.

4. CAC olaiya was valued at #59.7 when government demolished it to pave way for road construction. Aregbe added another #30m to make it #89.7 in spite of the fact that majority of the individual property owners have not been paid.

I just decided to mention these few for you to know that Aregbe has served xtains the more.

Now to the main issue of hijab.

1. All the schools, including missionary schools, were taken over by government in 1975 by the military govt. Govt discovered at that time that the subvensions given to xtian missionaries were not judiciously utilised! This was discovered when govt gave similar subvension to May Flowers school ( a school founded by Tai Solarin, an atheist) and the money was judiciously spent. Govt was surprised that same could not be said of the xtain missionary schools. Govt had to call for a probe and it was discovered that most of the subventions were not used for the purpose they were meant for. Again, the pieces land for the construction of the churches and schools were donated by the community.

This prompted the govt to ask them to value their property and place side by side the subvention they got from govt. It was discovered that most of them were even indebted to govt and govt had to take over the schools. Those who had spent beyond the subvention were compensated.

If govt had changed all d names of the missionary schools, possibly nobody would be laying claim to any name or heritage today.

2. Ever since then, govt has been responsible for the financing and running of the schools but the church still interfere vicariously. For example, in some schools, people of other faith or denomination cannot head a school that is run and funded by govt.

3. Muslim students are subjected to Christian mode of worship on assembly grounds in all schools, whether missionary named, community named or government named schools.

4. The agitation to allow Muslim students practise their faith without being subjected/forced to follow the creed of others had been on for long.

5. For instance, during the regime of Oyinlola, he was approached. His administration granted Muslims female students the right to wear hijab only in Muslim named school but not in Christian-named, community-named or govt named schools despite the fact that they are all owned by government and financed with public fund.

6. The agitation continued under Aregbe who called both Muslim and Christian leaders to meet and resolve the lingering issues amicably. They could not!

7. In 2013, the Muslim community approached the court to seek justice.
Pls note that the Muslim community took govt to court and NOT CAN! But CAN chose to join in the case which was eventually won by the Muslims.

8. The judgement was based on the fact that it's the fundamental human right of the Muslim female students to wear hijab especially since all schools belong to govt and not any religious body!

9. The xtains are unsatisfied with the judgement but instead of approaching the court for stay of execution and appeal, they have resorted to propaganda and blackmail!

10. They've asked their children to wear church garments to schools without recourse to legal approach. But can this be sustained judging from the fact that church garments are not an everyday wear of the xtains whereas hijab is an everyday Muslim female outfit ordained by Islamic injunction.

11. I do not know what is detestable in wearing hijab in a public institution when your children are not forced to wear it.

12. Are we truly tolerant as we make people to believe?! Your guess is as good as mine!

13. As a journalist who practise in the state and is abreast of the situation, I decided to put this across to you (my AGOSA friends) for us to know the true situations of things, instead of the lies and propaganda that fly around.

14. I hope we all read this objectively and pass comment[truncated by WhatsApp]

One of our major problems in this country is religion intolerance. I'm a christian and a devoted one by the grace of God but I don't see why the issue of hijab should be causing problem. Moreover, these girls are only covering their heads not their faces. We should learnt respect everyone for who they are. And south west is so unique in a way that in every family who will surely find someone from the two major religion. So why the headache.
You probably need to check your dictionary for the meaning of Uniform. As long as there is a uniform for students to wear, there should be no variation.
