I know the point they are trying to make. All these argument started from the guy that want to sell his house and danfo. I'm still in naija but if I'm in his shoes, I'm not selling anything. I'll use it to get that money for funding my block account even if it takes me 3yrs. Rushing to germo is for us that graduated with no job in naija or very low paid jobs or for people that comes from a rich family who can comfortably support them in getting that quality education. I'm living with my brother now as a graduate. Teaching in a sec school which gives me stipend. So, my bro shelter, feed, and sometimes cloth me as a graduate. So, nothing you guys will say about my German dream that will shake me to have a second thought. I'm not going there to hit it big. I am going there to start living. So, if you are in my shoes, we are good to go. Still expecting admission from Jena, Würzburg, Bochum, and Bonn-rhein-sieg. Thanks

I just love your strategy of using what u have to get what you want...that's a very nice place., Av been reading a lot of comments here n fuming here...am in your shoes, even in your closet sef...lol

Well didn't see that. Pls also ask your friend about positioning. Don't just tell us what doesn't work also tell us what works. Coz I have people who companies are chasing after n getting their permanent residence was a piece of cake coz they had the right skills the companies wanted. Plus the one who was employed on the day of his convocation. My point is there is a better way ask your friend about that. Not just about how to fail. Ask how to succeed not just how to jump in front of a speeding train. Let him tell us courses that are no good to get a permanent residence and skills that can set one up for success. Thanks again

Oshey jareee, people should stop telling us the problem and if you'll do pls tell us the solution to the problems, thanks

The way you seem to think is very disappointing, I don't want you to feel insulted but maybe try to sincerely reassess how you still think and adjust.

-Every sane ambitious person wants to make it big, big cars, a lovely house etc. Nobody wants to be mediocre. If you look at the state of things in Nigeria at the moment. The probability that you will remain mediocre even if things improve is high, if this country starts getting it right now. It is not our generation that will

enjoy the sacrifices we have to make.

- To make it in anything you do, anywhere in the world, you have to take risks. Big risks, small risks, it depends on your personal ability to take the risk, your threshold for risk. Risk means, you realise that there is a possibility of failure and there's also possibility for success. And you are ready to expose your self to the failure for the success you seek. The amount of failure you expose yourself to, is a result of your threshold for risk. I am typing this off the top of my head, I might not be accurate or comprehensive, but try to follow . Everyone who has done anything on his/her own understands this. It's a risk to use your last N100 to transport yourself to where you can make 1k, because your making 1k is not sure, but you will do it for the 1k even though you know you might have to trek home. You know you can do it, if you have to.
The people on this thread who have made enough to build a house, buy an SUV or Danfo understand this.
The willingness or otherwise, to sell your belongings to travel for quality higher education in Germany is NOT your decision to make for anybody. It is not really your concern if you have done your duty of sensitizing us to the cons of the German education hustle (which is all I see you do on this thread). It is the decision of the property owner to make.

What nevilbot, Diboss and Co have done, explaining the usual expenses on a salary of €2500/mo is enough. Explaining the difficulty of getting jobs in certain fields of study is enough, for any right thinking person to make a decision.

Don't take it soo seriously 'for your head'. Don't spend your time sending messages to all your German friends when you can sit down access the German environment, figure out a need that you can meet or skill that is in demand related to your field of study and equip yourself.

The rule of demand and supply is the same all over the world. If you can supply what is in high demand, you will be highly sought after. It is only when you don't have anything of value to offer a society that the society rejects you

SOME OF US HAVE IDENTIFIED NEEDS TO BE MET IN NIGERIA AND WE SEE THE POSSIBLE TO ACQUIRE THE SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE IN GERMANY, THATS WHY WE ARE HERE. SO IT'S FOR EVERY INDIVIDUAL TO CARRY OUT A PERSONAL RISK ASSESSMENT STUDY AND PLAN YOUR JOURNEY ACCORDINGLY.

See as I dey write essay for nairaland on Monday morning. *sigh

Bro, nice write up, I gbadun you gan ni

Thanks Eke40seven. From Duisburg-essen is a conditional admission. They asked me to write IELTS (6.5) or TOEFL (86ibt) and send the scores in order to get the authentic admission and they gave me till Sept 9th to do that. Aber I already got admission frm Koblenz-Landau and Freiburg, awaiting Trier.
Pls who can help me with study materials for TOEFL or IELTS plsssssssss.. my e-mail: chat2dennis247@yahoo.com

If you want to write toefl

Download the software, toefl interactive sampler 2014 and toefl sampler 2009(i prefer the older one). Download toefl preparatory guide (pdf). Download the mobile application Edusynch, it will give you loads of toefl style questions. I used it on Android (it's in beta stage now and it is free including speaking and writing section)

Familiarise yourself with how the exam is structured, how the questions are asked and the different types of questions in all the stages and how all these questions are scored. It will help you organise your answers. Try to practice each section in exam manner at least 5 times.

Don't let all these make you feel like it's too much work. If you register now, the time between now and the exam is enough if you dedicate an hour to study everyday. These exams are designed for people who don't speak English day to day not for educated Nigerians. I scored 110,and I didn't follow my advice here. All perused all those materials once. Lots of edusynch tho

I prefer toefl iBT to ielts because it is computer based whereas ielts is paper based (no be say I don't write am). That's me anyway. Best of luck

Do you prefer Duisburg-Essen to the others? I want to apply for Msc Sustainable Urban technologies, but they are requesting for a 2.0 German GPA. I have a 2.3, I think

Looking forward to sharing my experience at the right time.

Eke40seven , pompido, weirdarkhitekt and the rest have done a whole lotta justice with this thread. I just confirmed my admission 4 masters in intl business & mgt. (Osnabrück University of Applied Sciences). No Uniassist stress nor sending of docs + Nipost/DHL wahala grin anyways, scanned all and sent, luckily enough was offered a position. Waiting for the hard copy to hit 9ja dis wk. But I have a dilemma. I currently have admissions for Masters in Luxembourg and Canada as well. That of Lux is €200 per session while that of Canada is $3-4k per year. Now, dis German admission is tuition free. Considering
1. the ease of visa processing & higher rate of securing Visa,
2. better integration into the system
3. Standard of education
4. Better welfare after grad as omo Naija grin

Which will the house advice me to follow?

BTW, Econs in Lux, while Rural dev in Canada. All taught in English language.

Please fellas. I need your help.

I went to First Bank Today and I was told My Form A request has been declined. Meanwhile, I need to pay my tuition before July 1.

Can I use Moneygram or Western Union to pay tuition? If Yes, how long does it take?

Or is there anyone willing to help me pay 700Euros and take the naira equivalent?

Bank is Credit Agricole, France.

Urgent replies please.
The amount is much for a student to spare for a month but if you have the equivalence at the parallel market rate, I might find someone who MIGHT do the transfer for you at least some few days to the deadline.

Toroze. I still dey observe oo. I'll buzz the house in due time.

Also guys, the new visa fee is 17,000. Which means the embassy operates at the rate of 285.

Let's see the new rates our banks will come up with by Friday.

Hello all new here, I am into agriculture and I want to apply to an agriculture school in Berlin, pls is it advisable as in money wise, jobwise and Naija struggle for a mother. Thanks
Based on my 'unpublished' assessment, Berlin is by far tops on the list of places to study in Germany, from an average Nigerian student point of view in terms of quality of school, jobs, extension, affordability (private housing is shooting over the roofs recently though), internationality and mobility.
However, I suggest you read the debates also and not get your expectations too high.
I won't also encourage you to take your child along at first, this is not Nigeria where you can drop your child with your neighbours until you get back, the system works differently or at least, you budget a considerable amount of money for your child's welfare.

Spain is in the Eu, their citizens don't need any visas or such, they just apply, get admission and off they go to Germany.
Cameroon was a german colony before the end of the second world War and after the defeat of the third reich, France too over, so they got more ties to Germany than Nigeria.

My tips to all studying; masters, bsc, make it your aim to secure yourself in Germany before your study ends, improve your german language, intergrate, connect, visit seminars be it in English or German, visit job trade fair even before your course ends and meet connect with recruiters at these job fair (Job messe).
Am not against anyone migrating to another country, when you've not explored all opportunities here.
I am definitely sure you'll still pay that tax one way or another in that country you are running to.
Wetin you dey find go Sokoto dey inside your Sokoto.
@Those coming for Studienkolleg, there's a way you can work after completing your Studienkolleg and work for 5-6months straight before your bsc start giving your finance a boost before the next semester begins.
@All, Nice real post coming the last few weeks about life after studying and not about Nipost, how to certify or how to dhl.
Wishing you guys all the best and good luck.

In my opinion, it depends on what you want.
Study wise, Germany have arguably the best package for international students, great schools, ridiculously cheap transportation and housing arrangements for students, wonderful health insurance package (if you are under 30), by far better work/study permit than Canada.
However, the only advantage Canada will have over Germany is the non language barrier. Nothing else.
If you can deal with that and the challenges that it comes with then you are good to go.

If you have the cash and won't mind the great limitations Canada places on international students to work while studying and probably are sure of getting that amount every year from home without hassles then Canada will be easier for integration purposes because of the language. But your Canadian course though, Rural Dev. embarassed how you take find am?
Canada and Germany's post study stay incentives are fairly at par.
You see I didn't mention Luxembourg. That's a business country, quite rich and expensive. I don't know anything about their package for international student, so I can't comment knowledgeably.

kodus to shwaz ,eke47,Williamson, nevibolt,, ohaskid ,,concido,,,,,,,,,,

I'm not yet in Germany but hope to be there someday
ive been following the resent topic and i must say,its something encouraging.
let me start this way
before every other factor, don't forget that Gods factor is the first.and again your determination .
this fact remains "if u can make it in Nigeria we little opportunities, how much more than in advance economies?
I'm not against anyone but the truth of the matter is most of our guys/babes here had wanted to be in Canada but for one reason or the other, they couldn't make it.so their mind is still in Canada no matter the amount of opportunities in Germany.
in as much as we are realistic,we also need to be positive.
its been preached over and over again
the language is of great importance now.during my language course ,we were taught a lot about German system and how to integrate.
now take for instance
we always assume that EU citizens will always get job before we African. now y won't there,?
only their CV(résumé) gives them more chances than we African.
an average European speaks at least 3-5 languages or more.
now a Nigerian wanna apply as a customer care staff say in Hoffman & Sohne GMBH.
the Nigerian summits his CV with only English language proficiency ( sometimes without any certificate to back of up) and a German A2 or B1 certificate.then an European comes in for the same application. summits his/her CV with detailed formations like, internship in France, seminars attended in Spain,Australia etc, vorusbildund and propedäutikum in Germany and like two work experience in same field. at the end u see something like proficiency in french, German ,Italian English and little knowledge in Chinese. knowing too well that this job requires communication in and outside the country.who will likely get this job?
pls Nigerians, let's do the ryt thing.there is this advice my cousin always tell me"its not only studying in germany, one need to understand the system"
let's see the possibilities yet untap in germany.Canada and US that we always want to run to was made better bY blacks like us.so let start to build a better Germany for Nigerians there and yet to come in.
in America,We have something like national Society of black engineers. this society helps all black prospective engineers to get a professional job. even if u attended MIT, CALTECH etc its very necessary that u belong to that society cos many corporation will always want to hire american before any other person. but through this societies,u will definately be noticed.its almost the same everywhere. even in Canada, u can't really tell what is going on there until you get there.
again as i said earlier , let's see the oppurtunities before us on Germany.try to add skills to your academic qualification cos no one hires or degree. its ur skill first.
even if blacks have not been making it before in germany ,that story much change. will will dominate their workforce IJN.
PLS OH AEROSPACE PEOPLE. ,H0W IS THE MATTER?
MAKE WE RELATE. THAT NA Y ME WAN REACH GERMO
AIRBUS, LUFTHANSA TECHNIK muss hire us eeeee
