please drop the hypocrisy.

what exactly is "yeye" in seeing a woman you like and asking her out or making your intentions known??

the onus lies on her to politely turn down your request.

if she declines and you press further, then the man could be said to be at fault. some ladies even interpret this to mean "persistence " and "going after what one wants "

make una free men joor...

Control yourself small na.
I bet you if a typical Nigerian man is overseas and 20 or more white females smile at him and greet, he will go bonkers on 20 of them. It takes a while for a Nigerian man to adjust to the new environment.

We ALL know that Nigerian girls do not smile at men AT ALL freely or out of professional courtesy.

[s]I was just trying to reason towards the cause if the alleged sexual misconduct against Nigerian law makers in the us. I lodged in a cozy hotel in Las Vegas late last year and almost got tempted twice. After I woke up from sleep due to long flight hours I heard a knock on my door. A cleaner so pretty in her sewn to size apron greeted me with a charming smile on opening my door. Omo I didn't know when I asked her to come in instead of saying I had no garbage in the bin and my room was not dirty. She actually stepped in to my surprise. I offered her some fried cashew nuts I had brought from Nigeria and she gladly collected it. The door was still ajar and agro don dey rise for my jugular. When after cracking some jokes, I asked her to sit down cos she had been standing some inches from het trolley on the door, her face changed into a livid blur. She rapped so fast and left the room. It was later that I discovered she left the pack of cashew nuts.

Later I would go for buffet. I would take my food to the garden lobby to enjoy the view and have some solitary moments. A waiter stationed directly opposite me would smile and make a not too clear gesture each time our eyes met. She would edge closer when I smile back and ask if I was confortable and if I needed anything. Pretty oyibo. Guy one morning I don dey chop my food jeje she waka come again. I ask am her name. She told me. I look round with style nobody dey even look my side. I com tell am make she give me her number. Wetin I hear na, sorry not necessary with same smile she waka comot. The next morning na for my room I chop breakfast.

Nigerian girls and American girls are two different species

Kindly take note!!

And one of the easiest places to get laid is in Sin city/Nevada/Las Vegas

A lot of loose bootay abounds there.
Most people go to gamble, get laid and marry

What you mean?

there are women and there are women. The mere fact that a woman is being courteous while doing her job doesn't mean she's stylishly making advances at him and if you need sex it's not where a woman is doing her job that you will be flirting with

Op, you got it right. Some people can mistake their warm smile to mean she is ready for you. That is their marketing strategy in order to make their customers have a relaxed time.

If one is not used to their life style, you will be tempted to think negatively. Nigerians act otherwise hoping that the way ladies here act, is the way it is over there. When you ask a lady her name, age and state, she will gladly tell you. Ask her if she is married , single or separated, she will answer you.If you now try to go to any area outside the above state and she say 'Nope' back off.

It's normal to despoil women in Nigeria. Very normal.

It's normal to sexually harass a woman. What is not okay? Is to do it outside Nigeria.

It's not about the money, sir. It's about believing in a cause and the showcasing of what people can achieve even though they are separated by space.

Thanks for joining the Mimzy train. I'd endeavor to mention you when it's time. Convince your friends to.

hmmmmm

Na wao.... so it's now a crime to see a girl you like and ask her out??
men would always fraternize with women. That's how it has been since time immemorial.

and they wonder why homo is on the increase...!

ask a girl out these days, before you know it they'd starting calling you pervert and all sorts.

if a man doesn't ask a woman out, is it his fellow man that he's supposed to ask out??

I just taya!!

You got it wrong it. You can ask for a date but if she says no, then take it as no. Don't assume she's playing the difficult to get type. No is No, your further push becomes harassment. Same thing with your wife, she's not in the mood for legitimate pleasure and you forcefully have your way, she can actually get you charged for rape. Do you get it?

No one will really care if you are short and stumpy, just flash the card. The rest is history mehn wink

Service providers in US are trained to be courteous and nice to patrons. They expect good tips for rendering exceptional services.

However, service providers in Nigeria are rude and angry at themselves, their employers, customers and the world.

So when a service provider goes out of her way in Nigeria to be nice, men see it as an invitation to gawk and possibly, sex for cash. More often than not, they are right.

Anyone man that carries such mindset to the US will definitely end up in the same situation as the lawmakers. It is usually your word against her narratives. Guess who they will believe?
\

99.9% of the time, people would be the lady making the allegation.

And if the service providers, here, are rude or constantly frown at customers, that hotel could receive lots of complaints from the guests.

In the US, when ladies in the hospitality or retail industry smile at you, do no misunderstand them. They do so out of courtesy/training. They want to make sure you are enjoying your stay, especially in the Five Hotels. After all, you are paying top dollars to be there. Also, they want to make sure you are a repeat customer. The hotel wants your business, of course it is only appropriate they threat you nice, and are courteous to you. A smile from any of the housekeepers does not denote interest. Remember they see tons of men who pass through the hotels. What makes you special? You are spot on.

I knew you would show up. Seriously though, I guess that's the reason why Nigerian women, who work in the hospitality industry, barely crack a smile at guests of both genders.

we are both saying the same thing... the men are being demonized for asking??

like as if it's some kinda crime or pervert behavior for them to ask in the first place. I don't know why nature gave men a higher sexx drive; cos I know if the roles were reversed we would be seeing worse from the females.

it's almost as if they are subtly trying to emasculate our sexxuality.

most men even here in 9ja would stop pestering a woman once she turns them down....except in the rare occasions.

see how they've started calling the OP "hegoat " and "pervert" just because he asked a lady her number. The hypocrisy is sickening.

Op I grab ur point, unlike naija, where some hotel cleaners are ready to jump on customers, especially when they see politicians, the white hotel workers are trained to have courtesy irrespective of who the customer is, those rep members must have tried something funny for an allegation to crop up, this isn't the first time Nigerian law makers lodge in hotels in US, for the embassy to come up with their decision they must have had some reasonably source of evidence, sexual assault does not necessarily mean sex or romance, a mere guy, making himself naked purposefully to seduce a lady because they alone or because she is cleaning his hotel room can also b an assault, and for just three of them of a lot, there must have been something they see normal here that's not normal there they must have done...anyways let's wait till the investigation is concluded...and we will all know the truth.

Naija mentality,salutation is not love.

Oyinbo people are very civilised and friendly people by nature, because they smiled at you doesn't mean they want to sex you.

Na so I carry my wife go one African restaurant like that, some mins later I decided to use the rest room, before I came back from the rest room, some silly Nigerian has started asking her for her number even though he saw both of us arriving there together.

I shake my head for Nigerians, many of them are in jail over here for rape.

My brother, the bolded shows we are not on the same page on this. I didn't agree it's a crime to ask a lady out, but it becomes one when you can't hear the word "No" the moment she says it.

They probably called the OP "hegoat" because he did not respect the lady's office. His hotel room is the lady's office, an office should be a respectful work place.
When you go to Rome, they say you do as the Romans. Oyinbos no dey joke with sexual harassment and abuse.

Every human being has criminal tendencies no matter how little, it is the fear of being caught and punished that deter many.

There are high chances that crimes committed in advanced countries would be detected and prosecuted, unlike the impunity that goes on in the third world.

That is the difference.

It would have been cheaper if the lawmakers relaxed, showered and took a taxi to a strip club. $20 to get in, $100 VIP lap dance and no soul will be reading any epistle about sexual harrassment.

God bless you Brother.
A brother deemed it wise to share a non-too-pleasant highly confidential experience for us to learn immensely about transcultural variations, but what did we get!?
Lots of jabs, tantrums & curses thrown at him by people who are most likely worse off than him!!
Have they learnt the intended lesson!?
I doubt so.
Am I holding brief for him or making an excuse on his behalf?
Not at all.
But, then, we need to be considerate & show some measure of understanding.
After all, he was still able to decipher when not to push it further.
I don't think it's anyone's prerogative to judge or question his libido level or sexual activeness!

Exactly. I guess this was either the first or 2nd time they had come to the US. I guess they are more used to some European cities where one could solicit for prostitutes openly.

With $100, each one could have got 4 or 5 VIP lap-dances with ease. In fact, they would have been the biggest tippers at the strip club, lol.
