femi4:Another id.iot post induced by illiteracy. Americans don't use "Of", they use "Exponent" and that's how syllabus is. Ditto how the say "Parenthesis" for "Brackets". And stop applying the logic of pure maths to applied maths, you m0ron. Anyway, when you're given a maths question in the UK - use the junk you typed there and see if you won't fail woefully, effing clown. |

Shym3xx:You can go ahead and swim in your folly after seeing what is below: From American dico: ex·po·nent (ĕk′spō′nənt, ĭk-spō′nənt) A number or symbol, placed above and to the right of the expression to which it applies, that indicates the number of times the expression is used as a factor. For example, the exponent 3 in 5^3 indicates 5 × 5 × 5; the exponent 2 in (a + b)2 indicates (a + b) × (a + b). |

femi4:Shut ya gob. Post any mathematical calculation where Americans used "Of", you monkey? They use Exponent, m0ron. Village ape, when you get a math question in the UK - apply the jargons to it and see if you won't fail woefully. |

Igboid:The answer using both of them is the same 5, note that multiplication and division are in the level in the order of operation. |

Igboid:what u did is very wrong. u need to go back to pry 5. ur pemdas is correct but ur bodmas is wrong now watch my bodmas 6-1×0+2÷2=? 6-(1×0)+2÷2 6-0+1=7 hence bodmas is same as pemdas or pedmas. the rules remain d same cos they must produce d same result |
| Re: Has PEDMAS Really Taken Over From BODMAS? by michaelwilli(m): 2:01pm On Jun 27, 2016 |
sniperwolf:More or less like pemdas was formed by someone who had nothing meaningful to do. Cos it makes absolutely no difference. Nice explanation bro |

Igboid:Your BODMAS solution is incorrect. and for christ's It's basically the same thing naa. Whether you do multiplication or division first, it doesn't matter na. gyroscopic:BODMAS: 12/6 x 2 == 2 x 2 = 4 PEMDAS: 12/6 x 2 == 12 x 1/6 x 2 == 12 x 1/3 == 4 Still the same. |

Igboid:The results should be the same. You made a mistake. The answer for both is 5 |
| Re: Has PEDMAS Really Taken Over From BODMAS? by Nobody: 3:35pm On Jun 27, 2016 |
I have worked with PEMDAS before. They are all the same. Just different rules that agrees. |

I just think those who said they don't understand basic maths and those who also gave answers as 5 in any of the two instances shd be ashamed of themselves and whatever Primary/Sec/Tertiary school they attended |

sniperwolf:Dear, Is Division commutative and associative? COMMUTATIVITY: a ÷ b and b ÷ a are they equal? ASSOCIATIVITY: a ÷ (b ÷c) and (a ÷ b) ÷ c are they equal? CHECKS: 6 ÷ 2 = 3 while 2 ÷ 6 = 1/3. They are NOT equal. 12 ÷ (6 ÷ 2) = 12 ÷ 3 = 4, while (12 ÷ 6) ÷ 2 = 2 ÷ 2 = 1. Also, they are NOT equal. DIVISION is neither associative nor commutative. |

If ur taking professional exams like GRE, GMAT, etc, PEMDAS should stick to ur brain |

| Re: Has PEDMAS Really Taken Over From BODMAS? by sniperwolf(m): 7:53am On Jun 28, 2016 |
SirBrightoc:Division is neither commutative nor associative. But when you use OF, DIVISION and MULTIPLICATION, you get the same solution however you want to rearrange the problem and same can be done for EXPONENT, DIVISION and MULTIPLICATION a ÷ b x c = a x c ÷ b |
| Re: Has PEDMAS Really Taken Over From BODMAS? by SirBrightoc(m): 8:08am On Jun 28, 2016 |
sniperwolf:GOOD! Here, you talk of "order of operations" not associativity or commutativity. Have a nice day. |

PEDMAS & BODMAS are the same just that pedmas is used in us and bodmas in britain(uk).. i went thru wiki forum but the calculation were confusing cause u'll have to be calculating backward. |
