ADEWUMIMichael:

According to him, it may not also be easy for institutions that had already collected money for the conduct of the post-UTME or screening in whatever guise to refund such money.

He added that this was because such money could have been diverted to other purposes.

Ogunyemi noted that most universities were under-funded and therefore, might have used some of the money to attend to urgent needs of the institution.

“Some of the arguments raised in this entire episode is that universities or tertiary institutions were using the conduct of such examination to make money,” he said.

“But the truth is, these institutions are poorly funded. If universities for example are properly funded, will the vice-chancellors be looking for other means of making money?

In the last seven months, university workers have been receiving incomplete salaries, that is, the disbursement of funds for payment of salaries has always been inadequate.

When situations like this arise, the managements will not be left with any choice than to look inwards and seek means of meeting such needs.

Now, when you put the bold parts together, you will have no choice than to agree with me that the only reason why they are conducting the exam is monetary. They have deviated from the initial intents and purpose.

instead of putme it is Jamb that should be scrapped off. just like other countries a student should just go to the sch of his or her choice and write their exams for admission.

ASUU: STOP BEING HYPOCRICTICAL!
What quality of education are you talking about? Is it the Post-UTME that will improve the quality of education or the regular education obtained during normal lectures?

ASUU should be bold and responsible enough to liase with our lawmakers to sponsor a bill for the scrapping of JAMB if it is convinced that JAMB EXAM is not credible and cannot be relied upon. This is a duty ASUU owes Nigeria if it wants to be taken serious.

Anything short of this means ASUU is only interested in dipping it's hands into the pockets of students in the name of Post-UTME.

Enough of ASUU hypocrisy. Parents and Students have suffered unnecessarily since the illegal imposition of the money spinning Post-UTME.

Enough is enough! Lecturers should face lecturing squarely and stop being gold diggers.

ASUU, so PUTME was just for money?

The school's should increase fees for the admitted students then, instead of taking money from everyone including those who would not get admitted.

@ Ujuella, I support your post 100 percent as students generally don't have faith in JAMB again like before. I remember in the 90's whereby thousands of students meet at their Ikoyi office to register or check results. Now the system has totally changed as students get results after 24 hrs, but funny enough get a score which some times will be different from what was sent to their phone number. Jamb and ASUU should stop all these noise and do the right thing. Universities in the United states have their own criteria of admissions and if you don't meet it, you are advised to retake SAT or TOEFL to qualify next time.

I suggest the federal government to allow all these body debate, like the pre-election last time and let the people vote.

I stand to be corrected, I still believe UTME is the best yardstick for admission into universities, ever since the advent of cbt examination malpractice has been reduced to the minimum, moreover if you don't trust jamb you should have no reason to trust the post utme being conducted by these universities because some of these universities are fantastically corrupt.

Apart from its extortional nature particularly by state owned institutions, I don't see any reason why POST-UTME should be scrapped.

POST-UTME has been the most credible tests of the Nigerian students these days. Most Nigerian students don't read for anything these days. Why do you think Jambites are failing the Jamb CBT online tests since its inception, it's just because it has minimised the rate of malpractices.

It's so worse that you can get NECO and WAEC questions to be written tomorrow online by today's evening. Nairalanders should try Googling it if you're not aware.

To those who are applauding the scrap of post utme, don't forget it's the poor that will suffer the most, admission will now go to the highest bidder. The VC list will likely be the most important decider; what about those who don't know the VC.

#postutmemuststay
has post utme stopped Vc list? how do u explain selling form to abt 80 thousand students when u can only admit 5000? Pls can you tell us the price schools sell their forms? since post utme don't we still have drop out or student with poor grades? if u can answer this questions correctly u will see that post utme is all abt selfish interest of institutions. ASSU finally admitted that schools are under funded that's why they looking @ other source of income.
finally saying the poor will suffer means u only entered University after they introduced post utme. Before the introduction of post utme both the poor and the so called rich gain admission into school thru jamb so I don't understand your point of the poor
