"What are you doing here Mark?" Anna asked again. She turned her back on him as though to walk away, but actually to wipe away the tear still forming at the corner of her eye.

"I came to check if you're alright," He sounded concerned. She had made an impression on him, and he couldn't help but think she was avoiding him.

"I just took the day off,"

"Why?" He sounded like a concerned Boss.

Anna bursted into tears, not able to hold back any longer. Mark cajoled her to open up. She told him about her affair with Andrew, and how it had to end today because she found out he cheated on her. He consoled her, but every way Mark tried to console her only seemed to make her cry out more, until she got tired, and layed her head on his laps.

The room was filled with awkward silence, up till the point Anna kissed Mark. The young man, though caught off guard, returned the kiss immediately, they locked lips some more. Mark rose up, and hurriedly unbuttoned his shirt to get ready for the next thing to follow. Anna pulled away.

"I didn't mean to lead you on."

"Did you?"

The awkward silence returned.

"Please you need to leave."

Anna sent Mark on his way, she realised she was making a mistake kissing him. He made for the door immediately, no questions asked. He made adjustments to his dressing inside his car.

Few of the circle members present at the firm led by Patrick and Sanni, walked into the public conference room, to greet their client - Delegates from Crescent Housing.

"Welcome" Patrick wore a loud smile to say.

"We haven't come here for pleasantries Mr. Patrick" Mr. George, the spokesman for Crescent Housing beckoned for the young lad on his team holding the Estate's branded parcel to come over. "This is an official letter stating we are terminating all existing contracts with your firm, with effect from now"

"But why?" Patrick asked.

George took the permission of audience to remind Patrick that Akin Chambers stunk and the whole world could now see it. Above all was the news making the rounds that their CEO, Mark stole money from them while he represented the, and now they were going to side with Mr. Huey who's bent on purging their firm, he claimed Mr. Huey stands for what their Housing Estate represents, a trust Mark had broken.

"Time to take your leave" Mr. Dimeji cut Mr. George short. George was enjoying the looks on their faces too much, "See you all in court," He finally said before they left.




Patrick just sat and stared at the glass table, dumbfounded.

"Come on my friend, you can't stay here and sulk, there's work to be done" Mr. Sanni charged.

"All hope is lost," Patrick tried to justify his position to give up.

"Where there is a number, there is a person behind it. And where there is a person behind a number, such person cannot hide from you, Mr. Patrick. Now get up and find the person behind these numbers" Mr. Sanni charged louder than the last time. Patrick got the deal, trace the money, find the person(s) behind them.

Mr. Sanni went on with his own part to play as agrees between him and Patrick. A young staff by the name Atticus claimed he had valuable info relating to the Crescent Housing case.

"I don't want any trouble Sir, but I felt this could help sort of a lot of the recent troubles with the Crescent case"

"Yes, go on," Mr. Sanni encouraged him.

Atticus claimed to exactly remember seeing the acclaimed missing figure written by Mark on his jotter when he was a part of his team during the last Crescent trial. "He went out and came back with the figures already written," Atticus claimed as what had happened. Mr. Sanni was greatful for his assistance.

Mr. Sanni stared at his note pad, the words of Atticus inscribed on that journal held many repercussions for the firm if true.

Mark walked into his office, and saw his father seated.

"You're back father. Welcome" He grudgingly greeted the old man.

"Thank you son" Mr. Akin cleared his throat as he awaited his son's obvious next question.

"Why you not home resting from your trip?"

"I'll rest when my life's works aren't being threatend any longer" Akin scoffed. Mark stared blankly at his father, awaiting an explanation.

"I'm stepping in as temporary CEO, till the Crescent case is dead and buried. You've only succeeded in awakening a mighty sleeping dog I fear is above your power,"

"To hell with that father. You and I both know you've never been happy about handing this seat to me," He pointed at the executive chair of CEO on which his father sat.

Mr. Akin laughed at his son's display of childish tantrum.

"No one's getting rid of you son, but if you want to talk about getting rid off, fine. The law is going to find you, and you're going to end up in jail, if you don't swallow your ego and listen to me. We're at war,"

Mark snapped and walked out on his father, he ignored his call to return. He bumped into Andrew at the exit, and his mind went straight to Anna. He used the element of surprise to pin Andrew to the wall close to the door.

"If you touch Anna again, I swear to God I'll kill you" He walked out of the office.

"I do not even want to know what that was all about" Mr. Akin said to Andrew.

"Never mind. Welcome Sir" Andrew still held a tint of anger in his voice for what Mark just did to him.

"Thank you Andrew. I called you here to let you in on personal secrets of my family. It's about Mark and I"

"I'm listening Sir"

"It all starts and end with this Crescent Housing case..."

"I think I know who stole the money" Mr. Sanni said as he entered Patrick's office

"Who? Why aren't you screaming the person's name already?" Patrick asked puzzled.

"It's Mark your CEO. Now tell me, how do we scream that to the world?" Mr. Sanni replied.

Patrick looked dumbfounded.

Mr. Akin began to narrate. He told Andrew of how he illegally put Mark, who still in school at that time was unqualified to act as a lawyer, to be a part of the firm's representative on the case. Mark was replacing Mr. Sanni who was on leave, and was supposed to represent him but he was away on family business, leaving Mark as the mouth piece of the CEO at that time. According to him, Mark disappointed him, by going into a shady deal with the account officer of Crescent Housing to hide the missing N935,870,000 from the court, and reduce the settlement offer to the prosecution. He then said that at that time it sounded as a good plan to Mark, up until the account officer disappeared with the money, all he's been trying to do ever since then has been to protect his only son from the weight of the law which he swore to uphold. Different sacrifices, ranging from blackmailing the internal auditor of Crescent Housing to cover up all the mess, to making Mark CEO at an early age to give him better standing in the society.

"As it has gotten to this stage, I know my son is supposed to go to prison, but he won't, because the only evidence that can implicate him is safely tucked away, under my orders" He said, drawing Andrew's attention to the details at this point.

"All I want from you Andrew my boy, is your support, for me to ascend back as CEO when the time comes. If all goes according to my plan, this seat will be vacant soon, and I need to be reinstated by Senior Circle members because I know the board of directors will jump on any opportunity to kick me out,"


"That's not a problem at all Sir. You can count on me to get you all the support you need."

Mr. Akin never doubted Andrew's resolve to stand by him, he loved him like a son and he trusted he'd always do the needful to salvage his honour.

Don't get it twisted Cracked sources is a beautiful story just can't seem to have enough ride on Talius!

"I believe you. It all makes sense now" was all Patrick could mutter after hearing the shocker that Mark, their 25 years old CEO was responsible for the almost one billion naira missing.

"What makes sense?" Mr. Sanni asked

"Why my wife's been receiving untraceable alerts, and tips on things I'm doing at work. Mark's been feeding her with all those, to take my head away from my job, he's not been letting me bring my A-game to work for a very long time now"

"Is that so?" Mr. Sanni pretended to not know about his wife drama.

"And imagine that the young bastard had the gut to give me a two weeks suspension"

"I understand how you feel" Mr. Sanni tried to calm him down,

"No you don't. That boy is going down"

"Mark! Mark!" Anna called. She just came out of the elevator onto the 18th floor.

"Anna! What are you doing here?"

He asked. His PA told her he always came to the 18th floor to clear his head when necessary and today shouldn't be different judging by the way he left his father in the office.

"Who hurt you?" Anna asked him.

Mark didn't respond to her question, his eyes stared at her lips and how different they seemed from the other night. Anna bridged the gap between them and planted a kiss on his lips. He immediately returned the kiss. He pulled back the moment he remembered what happened the last time he impulsively returned a kiss from her.

Anna sensed his reluctance to play along for fear of rejection, she made the next move, by unzipping her gown, and exposing her full unclothedness. He was hooked.

Mark rushed for her left breast, stuffing as much of the large nipple, and the breast as he could into his mouth. He moved from left to right, to left, and to the right once again - He couldn't get enough - Changing with ease from one perfection to the other. With a swift wave of the hand, all of Mark's clothing flew to the ground, and he and Anna comforted one in the other's embrace, rolling on the sheet of silk that littered the rough floor. The pain from the debris of the rough uncompleted floor, skyrocketed their pleasure, and uplifted them gauge after gauge.

The elevator door opened on the 15th floor in front of Andrew, and he saw Anna and Mark. He frooze in his step, and watched as they both took delight in the company of the other oblivious of his presence, debating whether to alight on this floor or not. Anna came off, Mark continued.

"He's a coward you know. He doesn't deserve you,"

Andrew's words mostly fell on deaf ears, Anna walked hurriedly away from him. After a while she pause on her steps, turned to him and said , "When I see the one who truly is deserving of me, trust me, I'll know," She walked away.


Andrew was very agitated. He dialed the man who promised him the world as if only he could deliver Mr. Akin. If he couldn't deliver Akin at least he could deliver his son.

"I think I'm ready. See you in 1hour" That was all he said into the phone.

"Thanks for calling me. I must confess your call is the best thing that's happened to me all day" The Man welcomed Andrew to The Bar

"Thank you too for being patient with me. I finally got clarity and remembered my true purpose here"

The man wondered if it was Akin or Mark who gave Andrew the needed clarity he required to decide because to him they both were cut from the same cloth. Andrew noticed his tone as he spoke about father and son, he asked.

"I keep wondering why you have so much hate against them Huey,"

Huey smiled and corrected Andrew, he didn't hate father and son, he hates only Akin, because of what he did to his mother, Mark was only receiving the wages of being the son of Mr. Akin.

"What did Akin do to your mother?" Andrew inquired.


Ten years ago, his mother, a mobile police officer, was killed in a store robbery gone wrong. The shooter was caught and the case moved to trial, but that was before the police knew who's son that was - the son of a top politician who rolled with the wrong people. Mr. Akin was the leader of the prosecution team as provided by the state. But that was the thing, Mr. Akin didn't like it, he'd always been a fan of who had the most money, even though he was a terrific lawyer, the highest bidder always got his service, and that was how he let Huey's mother's killer go unpunished.

"All I'm doing is just transferred aggression. I promised Mr. Akin then, that I'll come back for him and all that he loves, and here I am" Huey smiled louder.

"Hmm," Andrew wondered silently.

Huey felt he was honouring his mother by seeing that another one of the many corrupt people she gave grt life fighting against ends up behind bars where he deserved to be. Andrew concurred with him, "Bleep Akin, Bleep Mark," he said.

Andrew dropped the Crescent file that's been in his possession all along on the table. Huey dived to grab it. Andrew put both his palm on it to prevent the snatch, "I need a favour from you" Andrew said.

"Go on." Huey smiled.

"Sir your case files are all packed all ready for the trial tomorrow, which hopefully will go well" A lady said to Mr. Sanni

"Thank you very much my dear, you're wonderful," Mr. Sanni said to her

"Whatever happens after the trial tomorrow, know that you're irreplaceable, and I'll fight to retain you, irrespective of the changes made by whatever management assumes the mantle of CEO. OK Beatrice?" Mr. Sanni asked his effective PA

"OK Sir" she replied.
