No..... I applied in the very beginning of the rubbish registration..... went there several times and they telling me they will call me...... till now they have not flashed me.

I did my registration in 2014 and till now, I have not received anything.

The fact that people have to wait 3 years before receiving a National ID card, when a similar process only takes 30 days in most other countries, proves that Nigeria is a huge joke.

For goodness sake, why should a basic ID take a bumbling, inefficient government parastatal THREE years to issue to applicants?

CrazyG, it is not possible to successfully register twice into the National Identity Database as the system will definitely detect attempt to register twice which is also a criminal offence and is punishable by the Act establishing the NIMC. It is possible you did not complete the registration the first time you did and was not issued a NIN (National Identification Number) which is a randomly generated number issued to a particular individual and is not replicated. Once you have that number, your registration is complete and a print out handed over to you which contains your photo ID and the NIN. Another print out is given to you which shows you enrolled successfully but not issued the NIN - that is called the transaction slip while the other one is called the NIN slip. It is not something to boast about that you are yet to get your card a year plus after you registered but the Commission just like other government agency is facing challenges with capacity to produce these cards on a commercial quantity hence the delay being experienced. However, efforts are being made to attract funding to increase capacity so it doesnt take more than 3-6months to get the card after registration like it is done in some countries in West Africa.

Again, the emphasis has been on the number not necessarily the card. The card is only a token issued at after successfully being captured into the National Database which should act as the National Repository of databases for the nation. That number alone singles you out and you can truly be identified and verified without the card in the long run.

No. Getting to three months now. I have not even gotten the temporary card not to talk of the permanent ID.

The registration started last quarter of 2012. The commission needed a certain number of persons to enroll before commencing production. Production started in the last quarter of 2014. And then in 2015, there was change in government. Since the new government took over, we all know the story of no money stuff. So it's not just about the commission ineptitude, it's about availability of funds. I think the voices of Nigerians should be loud on this issue so that those in authority wake up. The project is one that if properly implemented will be very beneficial to the country. Haven said that, those who have not registered should try to do so and those who have registered should exercise a little more patience. Your card will soon out

We should also note that as important as the card is, so is the NIN which is issued to you immediately after enrollment. This is because you can easily be authenticated through the NIN since this is done via a secured link deployment to government agencies and private institutions. The card needs a machine reader to be authenticated and these are yet to be deployed. So please, visit any NIMC office close to you to register for your NIN. Note: To register more than one is a crime and of course, it's waste of time because you can't have two NIN. If you have any issues shout it out, so that authorities will hear

registered in October 2013, and i have gone to their office countless timea and its still not available.

I registered since April 2013,but I have not collected mine till date. I even went there around April 2016 and they said that it is not yet ready.

I was even part of those trained for the programme when it was started by Obasanjo, sìnce the inception of the National identity card program I'm yet to get mine so I've given up on it. After all, no be by identity card I be Nigerian.

Useless NIMC. It's been over a year for me too. I remember I needed that Identity card badly then, until I realised how messed up they were, and I would've waited forever. I just go do driver's licence... And it was out within 3 days. Successive Nigerian governments have failed us in certain areas.
