Nigerian Female Soldiers Back In The 60's and today (pictures)

General Alabi-Isama surrounded by female soldiers, before these women embarked on a mission to keep Nigeria one between 1967-1970 (civil war). Brigadier-General Godwin Alabi-Isama is a former Principal General Staff Officer (PGSO) of the Nigerian Army and Chief of Staff of 3 Marine Commando Division (3MCDO) during the 1967-70 Nigeria-Biafra war.

They are regular female Officer cadets in Nigerian Defence Academy (on training to become commissioned officers in the armed forces) the 2 white bars insignia on there shoulder flap shows they are second termers meaning they are in two hundred level students wen compared to a conventional university system.

I don't think the girls in the second picture are commissioned soldiers.....

The 60s picture is of Calabar and Ikwerre girls recruited in the field to spy, cook and warm the beds of the 3rd marine commandos soldiers during the war. None of them were eventually absorbed into the Nigerian army after the war.
