It's time to do lintel and such on the main house.

There are talks on round beam.

What is a round beam?

When is it necessary?

Thanks.

Edit: for a bungalow is there any reason not to use a triangular setup as pictured below?

Like lintel all around, not just on doors and widows gaps/bridges.To tie all the blocks together.

Port Harcourt residents/landlord/builders,

Please how best do I manage approval/registration of Building Plan in Rivers state?

What are the rates?

If you say tie the blocks all round for bungalow thats correct. but for duplexes, why tie all blocks together? What about the Deck beam?

That's food for thought but some people build without decking beams which I say is silly

Tieing up all lintel allows one to have a more flexible floor system... which enables one to reopened Windows and doors in future

That's what my builder told me.

I saw a design element on one of Skimanski builds that I'll "lift".

Basically he has two windows on two separate walls touching a corner pillar.

Builder said I can do these later easily if I let him do a round beam.

That's it and that's it all!!! It allows for flexible floor arrangement. Not that it ties the block together. But to me it's not necessary because, it's a cost bearing practice that can be excused. I can do it all around the external walls, but for the internals it a no for me.

Besides if I want to change door locations, I ca. Just do a short 5 inch thick slabs above the new door locations.

Remember he was a good boy the last time. Paid for a couple of weeks next payment due on
25th July. So just over 2 more weeks before next payment.

Mature conversations for now and not pangolo lights , at least we know who needs to stay off the thread.

Jeez!

I never knew this thread could become this boring!

We use to have two, three pages within a few hours in the "good old days"........ but now, we cant even have a 'single page' in 36hrs!

If it continues this way, l bet this wonderful thread, could could go into oblivion in no distant time.

I hope it does not but then, lesson learned: EVERYTHING in Life, comes with it's "Pros" and "Cons".

Oga egun
happy Eid oo
I'm sure you understand yoruba
I saw a set of creative lights here sometime. Good concept however I found the ceiling shadows distracting.

what's the point of a light that creates very dark shadows on the ceiling. Just me 2 cents oo.

Good day gurus in the house and friends in diaspora. Please I'm monitoring a project for a friend who lives abroad. They just concluded the DPC and are working on the block work of the ground floor of the duplex.
While the plan shows the wardrobe position to be demarcated with blocks, the supervisor thinks block work for wardrobe is unnecessary and out of fashion. I am confused as my friend is a rigid person who might want to see his plan executed the way it was drawn unless if I could be convinced otherwise.
Now the question is, is it really out of fashion to build the wardrobe wall with blocks?
