That was a seven game tournament. Will you say Taiwo was a better player than Silva, Fabregas and Llorente? That is another weak argument. Spain had a poor tournament and crashed out early.

If Spain went farther, Taiwo would not grace that award.

In our team back then, there was a lot of star players within Babayaro's age. It was very logical that Babayaro will not win the CAF young player of the year. At that time, Kanu among the top ten players in the World. Not long from there, Ikpeba was one of the most lethal forwards in the game. Would Taiwo smell Jersey in that team, talkless of winning award.

Kudos to Taiwo winning the third best player of that tournament. But, he was not explosive. If he was that explosive, a bigger club would have come for him.

Look at Mikel, he was refreshingly outstanding and Manchester United and Chelsea battled for him. Taiye Taiwo was not that explosive. He scored some power driven goals but his play would never be in the class of the likes of Jordi Alba, Abidal, Alaba, Lizarazu and many more.

No one says Taiye Taiwo is not good. However, Taiwo would not grace those lists if he was in the German league, Italian, Spanish or EPL. He is not in that class now.

Reigning in Marseille in not the same as reigning in Chelsea. Is so simple. You can run around records to hide that simple fact. His reign was in Marseille. Taiwo would not have kept a regular position in any big club.

When he went to AC Milan, did Taiwo not vanish? That is what I mean. He could not make an impact or keep a regular place for one season.

He was a winger in most of those matches. No excuse!

After all, Ronaldo is not a point man but still had more chances than many point men yet he scores when he sees the opportunity. That can't said about Yahaya.

Chai! Na even one assist em get and one of the goals he scored was as a result of Awoniyi's selflessness to assist him to had scored. Chai! grin

What is chai? In that short clip, you can have a taste of how poor Awoniyi was up front. There is no comparison there. Awo was not exceptional. His conversion rate was terrible. Yahaya was classic. Baffling how you could say Awoniyi outclassed Yahaya. It shows a lot about your footballing judgment. If you pick other videos, you will see more misses. Awoniyi was not fantastic. Yahaya was. Simple.

Chelsea reject last-ditch Celta Vigo bid for Omeruo

Omeruo

by Samm Audu

AfricanFootball.com has specially gathered that Chelsea have turned down a last-minute bid by Spanish La Liga side Celta Vigo for Nigeria international Kenneth Omeruo.

Omeruo, 22, who is currently training with Chelsea in London, will therefore still go on a season-long loan to Turkish champions Besiktas.

“Top officials said Celta Vigo tried to sign Omeruo this week on loan, but their interest was late in coming as Chelsea have already agreed with Besiktas on the player,” a source informed AfricanFootball.com

Central defender Omeruo is heading off on his fourth loan away from Stamford Bridge after he was shipped out to Dutch club ADO Den Haag, Middlesbrough and Kasimpasa by ‘The Blues’.

He still has two years left on his Chelsea contract.

Celta Vigo will feature in this season’s UEFA Europa League after they finished sixth in La Liga.

Why were Celta Vigo slow like this? Celta Vigo would have been a fantastic option for Omeruo. Sad he missed this chance. Wish the young man the best.

Chelsea Talent Ola Aina Turned Down Opportunity To Represent Nigeria At Olympics
[/size]
https://www.allnigeriasoccer.com/football_pics/10385Ola%20Aina.jpg
Allnigeriasoccer.com understands that Chelsea defender Ola Aina was sounded out about the possibility of represent Nigeria at the 2016 Olympic Games by emissaries sent by the Nigeria Football Federation.

But the Londoner rejected the Nigerian Federation’s proposal as he is focused on representing the youth teams of his country of birth, England.

At this stage, Ola Aina is not considering switching his international allegiance from England to Nigeria just like that, and it is has been suggested that he might consider the prospect of turning out for the Super Eagles.

At international level, the 19-year-old’s future has been the subject of intense speculation, and his father Olufemi Aina has said that he can’t force him to represent Nigeria as the player is now an adult and can make his own decisions.

The promising youngster recently sorted out his future at Chelsea by putting pen to paper on a new four-year contract.

Me, I know you are browsing Wikipedia and just talking. You said which Spanish players are better than Aguero. Me I will ask you where Taye Taiwo is today and which big club in football today did Taye Taiwo keep a regualar shirt over the likes of

Fabregas => Currently in Chelsea.
Silva => Currently in Manchester City
Llorente => Currently in Sevilla, just left Juventus.

Who is Taye Taiwo in European football. You argue things you do not know. Browsing Wikipedia and claiming knowledge shows how limited your knowledge of the facts is.

The Spanish sides were the favorite. They were the U17 Champions in 2003 before that tourney in 2005. They were good and their first match was electric. Llorente scored four goals in that game. This is not browsing Wiki. I watched it. I believed they would win it. Fabregas went on to play in a Champions League finals. He already played in the Champions League.

It was a shocker and an upset that they went out. It did not mean Taiwo was better than them or would ever get to that level. Ligue 1 is Taiwo's level. If he was special as you make him, a top scout would have removed him from Marseille just as Essien was hot cake in Ligue 1.

In that tournament, Taiwo was no where better than Rafinha. You did not watch most games. Just browsing. I watched. I can even tell you Rafinha was called Rafael then.

He was too good and he was clearly the best player for Brazil.

There was a time some years back, my younger sister asked me what happened to Rafael. She said she did not hear about him after that time with Mikel. This is a girl that does not watch ball at all. I doubt she even knows Everton but she remembered Rafael.

Taiwo scored some good long range goals and we went far. He was not exceptional to attract big clubs or make a stamp in Europe. No big games to class him a legend.

I know you have a poor judgment of football after your Solanke better than Iheanacho argument and it shines in all your arguments. Similar illogical ratings of players from those that watch the games.

If you watched 2005 well, you will know Taiwo was not as good as the likes of Silva and Fabregas and Rafinha.

Just as years from now, people will look at stats and team of the tournament and place Renato Sanches as a better player than Luka Modric in this Euros. But, those who watched most matches will know Luka Modric was special.

Babayaro played lots of great games. Put memorable performances. Lasted in a top team and was part of one of the great revolution of English football. It was all Manchester United and Liverpool till Arsene Wenger spoilt the Party and then Chelsea rose to disrupt the flow.

You can not browse Wikipedia to understand how Babayaro played to reach a level to start in the Super Cup finals against Real Madrid when Chelsea won the European Super Cup against a Super talented Real Madrid with the likes of Raul, Seedorf, Guti etc

So, you don't know Taye Taiwo was offered by both Real Madrid and Ac Milan before he later choose Ac Milan.

Na wa ooo!

Did Celestine Babayaro ever dreamt of playing for Ac Milan?

Ac Milan and Chelsea are not in the same level. You know that.

What happened to Celestine Babayaro when Mouriho came to the club? grin

I followed Babayaro wella but I knew he was not the main player for Chelsea.......

Super Eagles striker Odion Ighalo has tipped compatriot Isaac Success to be a big hit for Watford in the Premier League in the forthcoming season.

While the future of Ighalo at The Vic remains covered in mist, Success has more or less completed his move to the Hornets, signing a five-year deal that will keep him at the club until the end of the 2020-2021 season.

Like he did when Success joined Granada in 2014, Ighalo has helped the 20-year-old get familiarized to his new surroundings.

I hope Ighalo will influence Isaac Success to dress decently. He cuts the figure of someone suffering from youthful exuberance with his hairstyles and photos on Instagram.

Hopefully, he concentrates on football and become one of the greatest strikers Africa had ever produced. He can do it. Drogba is a good model. Ronaldo is a good model for these young talents.
