forgiveness: So you believe in your heart that in 1999 when Chelsea had the likes Desailly and Andre Flo that Marseille would beat Chelsea to a player. Come on. The EPL was smashing transfer records. Chelsea could secure the likes of Petit and Crespo. How can yoh tell me Marseille will beat Chelsea in the market when they were relegated and when they finished 11 in the league. It is not true. Chelea had a stronger squad all through Babayaro's era. Look at the link below. UEFA team ranking. By 1999, Chelsea was ranked 16, Olympique Marseille was ranked 36. By 2000, Chelsea was ranked 14, Olympique Marseille was ranked 38. By 2001, Chelsea was ranked 12, Olympique Marseille was ranked 44. By 2002, Chelsea was ranked 11, Olympique Marseille was ranked 46, By 2003, Chelsea dropped to 25, Marseille was ranked 49. By 2004,Chelsea was ranked 20, Marseille was ranked 40. http://kassiesa.home.xs4all.nl/bert/uefa/data/method2/trank1999.html Chelsea was bigger than Olympique Marseille by far before Roman's money. |

safarigirl: Not that i am encouraging rubbish. See, one thing is we all are different in our own ways. This is an open forum where people are free to air their views and opinions. In as much as forgiveness most times takes his arguments to some extremes he has never ever uttered one abusive word. Not even when provoked. I love him for that. If every1 has same opinion here then the house will be boring. Eg: Iheanscho is better than Solanke or Babayaro is better than Taye Taiwo or even Nwakali is better than Awoniyi and every1 agrees, no one to dispute, u will see less of me here cos it is mostly those arguments that draw my interest here. So our honourable First lady pls forgive forgiveness and b patient with him. Some forumites do have 'em His arguments can be funnily skewed most times but i will say he is a great guy. 3 Likes |

Bayer Leverkusen join scramble for Roma's Sadiq Umar Sadiq Umar of AS Roma by Samm Audu German Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen has joined the chase to take Roma young striker Sadiq Umar on loan for the coming season, AfricanFootball.com has been informed. Sadiq has signed a permanent contract with Roma after a season-long loan deal from Italian Serie B club Spezia, but he is not in the immediate plans of coach Luciano Spalletti and so he will be sent out on loan in the new season. Another Serie A club Bologna have been linked with the 19-year-old striker. “Bayer Leverkusen are now among the many clubs who wish to take Sadiq on loan,” revealed a source close to the player. “But nothing can happen until he returns to Italy after his time with the Nigeria Olympics team. SHOCKING! Minister unaware Nigeria Olympic team in US Nigeria Olympic team coach Samson Siasia Nigerian sports minister has dropped a bombshell after he told a press briefing he was not aware the country’s Olympic team are training in the United States of America ahead of next month’s Rio Olympics. The Olympic team led by coach Samson Siasia have raised alarm they have been abandoned in the USA by the authorities. And sports minister Solomon Dalung has further laid credence to this claim when he said he did not know the team are training for the Rio Olympics in Atlanta. “The issue of our U23 national team suffering in the United States of America is news to me. In fact I am hearing it from you (the media) for the first time,” Dalung stunned the reporters. “They (Dream Team VI) didn’t tell us what they were there for and who took them there. It doesn’t mean that if somebody goes to the market and has problem then you will come and ask the ministry (of Youths and Sports). The question is who took them there? And what are they there for? “Because they are U23 national team and they went to the US and they are having problems, does that become our business? “When they were travelling to US from your information, were you told we that we were informed? Before you (the media) asked us to account for something you should know whether we were aware of it. “So, if somebody has a birthday of his friend and he moves his team to go and play (there) you cannot come back to ask me to account for it. If they are throwing them out of the hotel (in the US), then they should know who took them there. “They supposed to be given a letter approving they are travelling from the minister’s office. Then if they ask me I will tell you that I approved it and this is the reason. ‘So, what is happening in the US (as regards the U- 23 national team) maybe it is a story you (the media) are telling me”. http://africanfootball.com/news/633406/SHOCKING-Minister-unaware-Nigeria-Olympic-team-in-US 1 Like |

Focus More On Domestic Players Than Foreign Pros, Bar. Green Tells Siasia Augustine Akhilomen Nigeria Football Federation technical committee, Barrister Christopher Green says Dream Team coach, Samson Siasia should focus more on the players in his disposal rather than lamenting over the none release of the invited foreign players from their respective clubs in Europe ahead for the Rio Olympic Games Men's Football event. The team's poor performances in recent friendly matches played so far has made Siasia developed some element of fear with just 23 days to the commencement of the showpiece in Brazil couple with the fact that he may not have a full complement of some of the invited foreign pros players. Green insisted that the Football Federation had told him to invite players who he was sure would be released by their clubs in Europe. "I don't think Samson Siasia should be complaining because it was clear when we asked him to select players who he thinks will be available for the Games. Besides, we told him to use players in the domestic league for now but must penciled down players in the foreign legion that he's sure their clubs will release them for the Rio Olympic Games," Green stated. "Again the NFF are not relaxing too much because we are also working round the clock to ensure that clubs release some of these players for the games in Brazil. I am happy to inform you that we have started to get green light on the availability of the foreign pros and I am confident they will join the team before the games." http://www.soccernet.com.ng/2016/07/focus-more-on-domestic-players-than.html 1 Like |

For those who care to know, this could be one of the reasons why Siasia led Dream Team may face more huddles in their quest to perform well at the Olympics. **The sports Minister who is not a Coach wanted to choose players for Samson Siasia. --Now that Samson Siasia has bowed to the pressure of dropping most of the under performing U23 players, the Sports Minister is angry and would want to go to any mile to punish the Dream team led by Siaone. -**-The House committee on sports should move in so as to avert the looming embarrassment that awaits the Dream team. Nigerian sports minister raises alarm over Rio Olympics squad Akinshilo Ayomide 1 week ago – The minister of sport Solomon Dalung is not convinced by Samson Siasia’s Rio Olympics squad – Dalung questions why the coach has failed to pick players who qualified for the tournament – Only 10 of the players who qualified for the tournament are on Siasia’s provisional 35-man list Nigerian minister of sports Solomon Dalung has questioned coach Samson Siasia’s 35 man Rio Olympics squad. www.nairaland.com/attachments/3964495_mi_jpegb46afc1184b12722b7678ae6210b08a0 Solomon Dalung during a meeting with NFF executives The minister is not impressed by Siasia’s move to leave out many of the players who qualified for the tournament by winning the U-23 African Cup of Nations in December 2015. According to africanfootball.com, more than half of the team who qualified the team to the games were left out by coach Samson Siasia. PAY ATTENTION: Get the latest sports news on Naij Sports App “The list of the players for Rio is very different from the one who qualified the country for the games,” said sports minister Solomon Dalung. “It seems our local coaches cannot grow above parochial sentiments.” Only 10 players from the squad who won the U23 AFCON in Senegal in December are on the provisional 35-man for the Olympics with the possibility some of them will also not make the final 18-man squad to Brazil. terzurum5: "www.soccernet.com.ng" captions it;- Siasia's Cash-strap Problems In US, Not My Business – Dalung Augustine Akhilomen http://www.soccernet.com.ng/2016/07/siasias-cash-strap-problems-in-us-not.html |

Even a nursery student knows the Olympics are in August, and the daft man o'war member is looking for official letter Both the NFF and Sports Ministry is filled with half-brained dimwits with the IQ of a street dog. Such lack of co-ordination is disgraceful. So, who gave Siasia and 25 or so others money to travel? How are they getting feeding and accommodation? Not trying to bring politics into this, but where did Buhari get this incompetent oaf from? And why do we have a Sports Ministry if all the nonentities there don't realise the biggest sporting tournament in the world is less than a month away and we have nothing to look forward to, at this rate everybody should just come back mbok, before they exhaust the little reps we still have Maybe they should attach the NFF to the NBF cuz it's obvious those who run the basketball federation are the only competent sports administrators in this country.... Siasia has been moving around with the same boys for a while. The minister is not even aware of the team's affairs. 1 Like |

These young men are working hard to make Nigerians proud and give us something to feel happy about. It will be unfair if the Sports Ministry abandons them in the time of need. It is not the players fault but poor organization by the NFF. 1 Like |

Orkpekyandega: We have to admit that there is a big misunderstanding and lack of communication between the Sports Ministry and the NFF. This is beyond squad selection. Hon. Dalung feels he should have a bigger role in the running of Nigerian football. Pinnick is not breaking and wants to reign over the football. This is where the problem is. In the past, the Sports Ministry and the NFF were a team and thy supported each other. Under Pinnick, it has gone bad. Remember Pinnick's persistence to sack Coach Keshi as against the wishes of others. Remember Coach Dalung is against a foreign Coach and believes we should instead improve the conditions and training of our local coaches. Hon. Dalung insists that if the money for employing a foreign Coach is channelled into prompt payment and better welfare services of our coaches, they will do better. It still goes into the idea of Coach Dalung believing that those who struggled to qualify should play the competition. Amaju Pinnick not informing the Sports Ministry of the proposed camping plans is wrong and it should have been discussed, the selection debacle ironed out to make it easy on the boys. I think Pinnick takes the blame on this and he should compromise a bit for the Sports Minister. No man is an island. |
Re: All The News About The Olympic Eagles (U-23) HERE! by TheGoodJoe(m): 10:59am On Jul 13, 2016 |
Amaju Pinnick should slow down. He can not provide enough flight tickets for the players which led to Coach Siasia dropping Ekpolo. Yet he is working on employing a foreign Coach. No money for hotel bills for the camping plans for the Olympics. Tomorrow when the Government wants to coordinate things, they will claim independent and shout interference. #BringBackMaigari 1 Like |

forgiveness: TheGoodJoe: No 1, Olympics Marseille had been in the Limelight before Chelsea @bolded explained it all. There was an era between 1991 - 1998, that is the era I am talking about. During that era Olympics Marseille will beat Chelsea fc to a player because they were always in the top 10 UEFA rankings while Chelsea fc was no where near top 200. By 1991, Olympics Marseille ranked 20 out of the 236 clubs while Chelsea fc was not ranked. By 1992, Olympics Marseille ranked 7 out of the 246 clubs but Chelsea didn't make the rankings By 1993, Olympics Marseille ranked 5th out of 246 clubs but as usual Chelsea fc wasn't ranked By 1994, Olympics Marseille was ranked 8 out of 246 but unfortunately Chelsea fc missed out again. By 1995, Olympics Marseille was ranked 9th while Chelsea fc for the first time made the rankings at120th position. By 1996, Olympics Marseille dropped to 26th position, Chelsea fc moved up to the 112 position. By 1997, Olympics Marseille dropped to 50 while Chelsea fc also dropped to 124. (the year Chelsea bought Celestine Babayaro). Meaning small club bought Celestine Babayaro. Even in this era PSG will beat Chelsea fc to a player. Does that mean PSG is bigger than Chelsea fc? Note; Desailly was already a player of Marseille in 1993 before he moved to AC Milan and Chelsea fc. Flo was bought for the relatively small fee of £300,000 by the English Premier League team Chelsea in the summer of 1997. No 2, Celestine Babayaro's era Based on that UEFA rating btw 1999 - 2004 which happens to be Celestine Babayaro's era, you can see Chelsea fc was not in the top 10. Although, they were rated higher than Olympics Marseille but they were not a big club during that era. They were fluctuating btw 11 - 25. That alone confirmed they were small club. No 3 ,Roman's Era 2004 - till date In 2007, Chelsea fc was ranked 20 In 2008, Chelsea fc was ranked 1 In, 2009, Chelsea fc was ranked 2 In 2010, Chelsea fc was ranked 3 As you can see Chelsea was a small club before Roman bought the club. I know all these because I remembered my first reaction when I heard Chelsea fc bought Celestine Babayaro. I was disappointed a small club bought Nigeria. And as at that time, the Belgium pro league was very popular among Nigeria viewers. 1 Like |

safarigirl: Its a shame what you wrote up there. You most times come off like one brilliant, well informed individual but truly, your approach is always rude and shows crass ignorance on the subject at hand. You are really young and have no experience (based on what you wrote) about management and how organizations are run. Because it is a government agency doesn't mean that anybody can act in any way he/she likes. That is why we are in this mess and shamefully too, people like you (who are not just only ignorant but do not want to learn) support and condone such irresponsible behaviour. In all modestly, what the Minister said is very true. You don't just leave without an approval from a higher authority. If you are travelling for such an important occassion, you should request for an approval and until such an approval is granted, you can't leave. This is how discipline is instilled into people and enforced in organisations. At most, if there was no minister at that material time, then the Secretary to the Government of the Federation could (all with the express approval of the President) intercede. Most important is that you were permitted to travel or execute a project. Don't come here showing your ignorance on issues just because you have an idea or you want to contribute to the discuss like one who has an authority on the subject. 3 Likes |
