forgiveness: Simon is out. As disappointing as it may seem Stanley Dimgba is abt the only recognised natural winger in that team. Yes Umar. Aminu Umar is another good Am/striker but he is nt a natural winger same goes for Imoh. Sisia would nt want to field non-wingers in both and left and right wings. I have seen Imoh do well severally on the left wing. The Right wing is where i have nt seen any descent player apart from Dimgba. Aminu Umar can play in the number 10 positon while Imoh plays as a LWF |

kaboninc:i'm well aware you have to write official letters for these things bro, i was angty, hence the way I came off. As right as he may be, aren't they all involved in the rot? What are the chances they didn't get a letter and just chose to ignore it? I know what ministries do when they don't like somebody or something. I have a personal experience, too personal even. So, i don't go about swallowing their excuses hook, line and mugu. I'm not as young as you think, and if I am, i've seen stuff many older people haven't, so using my assumed age against me is a cheap shot. Like I said, I spoke out of anger, but I don't trust the ministry just as much as I don't trust the NFF and any right thinking Nigerian would ask relevant questions knowing Dalung's antecedents (which you may not be aware of). I may have come off wrongly, but my point stands. They're all shady and incompetent Good day and Petrobros, glad i'm the only reason you can contribute to a sports topic. forgiveness: As I said, relying on strictly stats does not tell the story. You just put Flo as a 300,000 pounds attacker but Flo was bigger than that. He was a fine attacker and he was the lead striker of Norway. There was a time Brazil did a tour before France 98 World Cup and tore teams to shreds. Back then, Romario was still in the squad. During that period, Roberto Carlos was the second best player in the World and scored some fantastic free kicks. Tore Andre Flo and Ole Gunnar Solksjaer were part of the team who beat that great Brazilian team before the World Cup. I think the score line ended 4-2. The Norwegians put four past the World Champions and World Cup favorite. That drew a lot of respect for the Norwegians, Flo and Solksjaer. Before Roman took over running Chelsea, Ranieri, current Leicester City Coach was the head Coach of Chelsea and he led Chelsea to the Semi Final of the Champions League and finished second in the EPL table. Chelsea was a team with top Stars. Running posts can not change it. During Babayaro's stay at Chelsea, it was a higher rated club than Marseille and attracted bigger Stars than Marseille. When we talk of Desailly, Dennis Wise, Graeme Le Saux, Babayaro, Geremi, Weah, Zola, Poyet, Crespo, Petit, Flo, Hasselbaink, and many more. These were respected names. Marseille could not boast of it. Saying that Babayaro joined a small club is funny because it was a movement that begun. Babayaro was a big part and stayed all through. Chelsea went up from there. Babayaro was part of the Chelsea team that beat Real Madrid to the Super Cup. He was part of the team that reached the Champions League Semi Finals. He was part of the team that finished second Under Ranieri. Babayaro = Legend. Taiwo did not and never reached that level. During Babayaro's time until Taiwo's time, the French Ligue one were not up to the EPL in competition and is not till today. So you are still trying to fight against the truth. Taiwo did not come close to Celestine's level in football. There is a reason why there is Baba in Babayaro. |
Re: All The News About The Olympic Eagles (U-23) HERE! by TheGoodJoe(m): 5:07pm On Jul 13, 2016 |
forgiveness: By the way, the debate is not between Marseille and Chelsea before Celestine's era. That Marseille did not sign Taiwo. It is a dead Marseille that signed Taiwo. Also the debate is not the Chelsea before Celestine. It is the level Chelsea was when Babayaro reigned in the Club. You can clearly see that when Babayaro was in Chelsea, they were clearly ranked higher than Marseille. So why take us on a trip to the past. Taiwo reign was in a small league and his club was not top ranked. You can see the difference that Celestine's levels pass Taiwo well. |

forgiveness: Tore Andre Flo When it comes to value for money there can be few as good as Tore Andre Flo, who arrived at Chelsea in the summer of 1997 as a £300,000 signing from Brann Bergen in his native Norway. Three seasons later, with 50 first team goals to his name, he departed in a £12 million deal to Rangers and a reputation as one of the best finishers in the game. |

Re: All The News About The Olympic Eagles (U-23) HERE! by TheGoodJoe(m): 5:30pm On Jul 13, 2016 |
Icon4s: Well, from reports I heard, Paul Le Guen wants to run a regular scouting program of local talents to push into the National team. He plans to stay in Nigeria to become familiar and acquainted with the local talents. I support him on that. Remember due to Club commitments, it is difficult for coaches to become acquainted with players. As long as in major tournaments and competitions we have the best whether local or foreign, I think it is the right move. As for Coach Siasia, I believe we landed in this problem of a weak squad because of a bias screening process. There is no way a coach can not build a stronger defense with thorough scouting. |

TheGoodJoe: There is no problem with this approach. That is the normal thing every new coach does. Bt what Barr Green is saying is he should rely more on the local players. We have done this several times in recent years and at d end of d day we fall back on foreign pros after d predominantly local team starts on a low. This has caused us vital pts in qualifying series. Eg look at d crop of players Oliseh started with dat drew away in Tanzania. That draw pt us behind Egypt before d epic clashes. It is nt dat in our first game against Zambia we would field a predominantly home based team and lose. From their we will start d chasing game. We need to hit d ground speeding. I thought dey said d major pt Paul Le Guen scored was dat he has been following Nigerian players in Europe. He can as usual start camping with local players bt he should then invite a rich list of foreign based players. And then select d best from there. What i dnt want to see is because we in a rebuilding process he'll now field one "Gambo Mohammed" that players for Kano pillars as our top striker. We know d emerging talents of Nigerian football and Paul Le Guem should also know as they claim. The qualifiers fall under d FIFA window so there is no way d clubs won't release d foreign players. Nigeria is playing Tanzania in September that match to me should b a dress rehersal for d Zambia game. We need to field our might against Tanzania so as to assess d weakness in d team. We need to hit Lusaka running. If we start rebuilding with local players by the time the team starts gelling we would have crashed out of d qualifiers. No time to waste as every game would b key 1 Like |

Icon4s: I get your point and I think it the same with what the coach wants to do. He will have his local talents in camp who will work with him regularly. So they can understand his philosophy and tactics. He already knows about most of our foreign pros. So I do not see the selection a challenge. What I see happening is using breakthrough home based boys to make the team stronger. Just like the addition of MBA and Oboabona made us stronger. Paul Le Guen wants to know Nigerian football inside out. That is why he is talking of living here and watching most of our home league games live in the stadia. He looks a serious chap and it seems he already has his game plan ready. I wish we could see his skype interview with the NFF. |

Re: All The News About The Olympic Eagles (U-23) HERE! by Icon4s(m): 7:03pm On Jul 13, 2016 |
TheGoodJoe: Yeah. Sunday Mba, Ejike Uzoenyi and Godfrey Obaobona comes to mind. Now, bt d difference between then and now is Stephen Keshi started his build up with weak oppositions. Keshi's first game was against Rwanda in Kigali where he drew 0-0 & was highly critisized for d teams poor play. He came back & won d return leg. His next game was against Liberia in Monrovia he again drew & won the return leg. With all those matches against relatively weaker oppositions he was building the team. In between he also had CHAN qualifiers from where he really tested the home boys before 2013 AFCON. The difference now is we dnt have dat luxury of easy games. After playing against Zambia in Lusaka we are hosting Algeria. If Le Guen adopts that Keshi's approach we would have lost our first 2 games before we identify the local talents. The Tanzania game is key to our preparations. We need to know d squad that will visit Lusaka from dat game. No game to waste. |

Icon4s: I believe Paul Le Guen understands the challenges on ground. He is familiar with African football and knows the strength of our opponents. That is even why he should begin his hunt for hidden gems while the foreign based players are busy with their clubs. By the time these guys arrive camp, he should already have an idea of those who can break in. The final preparation will go on with the selected home base players and the foreign players who will make most of the team. I think we stand more chance if he is coaching and working on his tactics. Let us see how he starts. Sad Salisu Yusuf refused to work with him. Wish Coach Yusuf the best. |
Re: All The News About The Olympic Eagles (U-23) HERE! by TheGoodJoe(m): 7:40pm On Jul 13, 2016 |
Icon4s: As long as he selects the best in every role in the team and utilizes good tactics and formation to bring out the best in the players, I see us scaling through. |
