@2n2k
assuming you are sponsuring your spouse, which document will be provided by your spouse if she is working (not a full house wife)

Note that my answers below are applicable if you are using the 'new service' on gov.uk not the 'old format' on visa4uk

According to the Guidelines on Supporting Documents published by the British visa authority, if the applicant being sponsored has his/her own source of income, it should be stated in the income section and supported by documents even where he/she will not be responsible for the trip expenses.

Then in the section for who is responsible for the trip, he/she will state that the trip is to be sponsored and state the particulars of the sponsor and answer the reason why the sponsor is responsible for the trip. He/she will still provide documents on financial capability of the sponsor.

Note that where the sponsor and the sponsored are applying together as a family, you won't provide separate set of the sponsor's documents for the sponsored. E.g. Your bank statements/title documents will be attached to your application while her own will be attached to hers even though she would have stated that you are her sponsor, she doesn't need to provide a separate set of your bank statements in that circumstance of same-time applications. Your documents cover her sponsorship claim but she must still provide her personal income documents if she has own source of income.

Under the 'new service', you don't technically apply as a family as such. Each of you will fill separate forms on gov.uk and pay individually and also get separate GWF. When choosing interview time on gov.uk, make sure each of you choose the same date and time.

After that, you are required to go to TLS website to create an account. This is where FAMILY comes in. The principal applicant will create one account for himself and will be required to enter the particulars of himself and other members of the family traveling and applying together with him including their GWFs. Fill and validate. From that time on, you are treated as a family and they will be putting all your documents in one jacket and processing your application as a group.

Thank you for your reply.

I am not blaming the ECO for not informing, it the Hotel that I feel aggrieved with tbh.

The Hotel replied my email and see their reply below

Hello Bleep,

Thank you for your email.

You reserved an advance purchase reservation, the card that we tried to take payment on declined and were were unable to contact you as we did not have an email address and were unable to contact you on your telephone number.

We have reinstated the reservation however the payment is still declining,

Have you another card that we are able to take payment from?

Kindest regards

Alexandra

I guess I took it for granted. I would apply more care next time

For Future Application this is what the ECO stated.

Any future UK visa applications you make will be considered on their own merits, however you are likely to be refused unless the circumstances of you application change.

You should note that because this application for entry clearance has been refused under paragraph V3.6 of the immigration Rules any future application will also be refused for the same reason under paragraph 320 (7B) of the immigration Rules or paragraph V3.7 of Appendix V of the immigration Rules.

A refusal under paragraph V3.7 of Appendix V of the immigration Rules may attract an automatic refusal period of up to 10 years. The period starts from the date of the previous event in which deception or submission of falsified documents or information was employed.

So I guess I should not bother appealing.
Secondly, I guess I am yet to attract an automatic ban but will likely do if a similar situation occurs. Do you agree?

I guess I should forget about the conference for now but I plan to reapply fairly soon. Now given the reply from the hotel do you think their response will be useful during future application when I am asked declare previous refusal and the reason.

I acknowledge I have goofed and took for granted crosschecking my details before sending my application. Hope to learn from it. I will appreciate if you can tell me what you think for about reapplying.

Can anyone please kindly advise me whether I can reapply as above or if the ban has taken effect?

@2n2k THANK you and GOD Bless, so so informational.

Please do you have any idea on the following question:

(1) Is it a must i make hotel reservations and flight booking before i applying for UK standard Visitor Visa.

+++ Because i saw in the required documents that flight and hotel bookings should not be sent in with the application+++
....... so i am thinking that i dont need to book them, and i will tick the appropriate box that i havent made any accommodation
and flight bookings.........

Gurus in the house! I need your URGENT advice, after my application for family settlement, was refused last year on flimsy reason, I immediately appealed the decision since November 2015 up until now my appeal is still lying fallow (9) months after without a date fixed for the hearing after their usual 15 weeks of review which has lapsed 4 months ago, their usual response is with many emails, they have not got respondent's bundles, they have not overturned their original decision, therefore the appeal will progress through the appeal process .....please note that we are unable to provide timeframes for the appeal process (as a whole or each procedure within the process)due to a number of varying factors. Even,If they maintain that appeals are currently heard within 12 months on average, and 9 months hearing date has not been fixed by HM Courts & Tribunals Service at the Ministry of justice? what can we do?

The advisory by the UK visa office is that reservation should be made for hotel and flight but should not be paid for until you get the visa. This is an economic advice especially if your bookings are non-cancellable.

Well as for me and my households, for all the time that we have applied and got uk visa, we booked and paid for hotel (mostly through agoda and non-cancellable because of the discount) and the flight long before we even applied. We stated the hotel address as our address in uk in the visa form and attached the booking voucher. The same applied to the air ticket. There was never a time that the TLS official rejected the documents though I wouldnt know if the embassy took them into consideration in approving our applications.

If you want to reply then attach the email from the hotel and use the blank space in the form to explain what happened.

Don't copy the email and paste in word document then print, print the email right from your inbox so as to contain all the details from the hotel..e.g email address, the date it was sent, printing day etc

I was told that they have a lot of backlogs of appeals. I am dazed and confused! The first application spent six months+ before it was returned refused! family settlement/family reunion.....Justwise

Yes, though at a higher price than advance purchase option but less risky.

Hello @justwise, @2n2k, @ askari, @whytegirl and nairalanders,
please there is a part in the visa form asking this question:

Tell us about work for the following types of organisation:
1)Armed Forces (including compulsory national or military service)
2)Government (including Public or Civil Administration and compulsory national service)
3)Media organisations
4)Security organisations (including police and private security companies)
5)Judiciary (including work as a judge or magistrate)

For most graduates who have done NYSC, does question No2 apply?

Please your answers.

To be frank, I found that question tricky also. In my first application years ago when we used to hand fill application, I put NYSC but since then, for no reason at all, I would just click NO. Graduate members of my family have been doing the same and no one has been denied visa.

By the way, where does a corper that served in a military school fall? Can someone who did his nysc in a bank claim government- public or civil administration?

Though I have not tried it, you may click yes and see whether a sub-window opens to give you room to explain in detail what nature of national service you did and where.

@ Justwise, from day1 that I submitted, my wife was anxiously expecting their call and after a while we kept writing and calling their UKVI enquiry that we have not heard anything, they then refused the visa (after 6 months+) claiming that wife was called 7 to 9 x on different days and she did not answer calls! and they even claimed that there was an occasion she rejected their call after they introduced themselves. BEWILDERMENT!!! DISCOMBOBULATION !!! A lot of questions beg for the answer with their busy schedules calling a person 7-9x Why did they concentrate on phone calls alone? someone anxiously expecting to be called will now be rejecting calls?--------------------------Justwise. I am confused, people in the house!!!

I am appalled at some of y'all's replies to people's posts. How difficult is it to be polite and courteous to strangers? Really! Even if you doubt the veracity of someone's story, calling the person a liar and being all crude and superior is not the right attitude. It speaks ill of your character and does nothing to belittle your victim's. Be courteous always. Peace.

BTW, I got TLSContact's email that a decision has been made on my son's and mum's visa applications. My heart is jumping, jumping, jumping. I haven't told her so she doesn't continue to worry. I will leave her to receive the courier package and update me. Pray for us, brethren.
