The op is a stake illiterate, there's no place like this in America, the highest you can get in America is abandoned building which can pass for a mansion in Nigeria.
The picture op posted is Ajegunle or one of those rickety towns in Nigeria.
When Nigeria starts to experience at least 12hrs power supply daily then come back and talk to America.
Nonsense
There is nothing like a stake illiterate in English.
You see how idiotic your comments are, Olodo..

You don't know diddly square about America. Obama destroyed America economy according to you means you are totally dumb about the happenings here. Unemployment was 10% when Obama became president on January 20, 2009 and now it's 4.7%. Dow Jones was 6,900 and now 18,500. Consumer confidence was 12% and now 85%. America wss losing 700.000 a month during the last year of George Bush presidency due to the worthless Iraq and Afghanistan wars and now America has gained jobs for over 85 consecutive weeks. So keep your messed up opinion to your Third World bottom of the barrel country. You know nothing about American. Keep googling garbage from right wing hateful blogs.

The Publisher of Forbes Magazine didn't write that. It's an article by a well known right wing Obama hater. It's not an editorial article. Its just a one man opinion and that's why I give a rebuttal to your article.

But that picture of Detroit is not fake.
My point is Nigerians should believe in making Nigeria great and that, there are slums in America.
Someone I know who went to New Jersey even confirmed it.

Those who are pessimistic about Nigeria are losers.
Dangote, Adenuga and Otedola made their billions in Nigeria by being optimistic.

Lucasbalo has tried to school you... but you just don't want to learn. What difference does it make directly or otherwise in Nigeria or to Nigerians if there are a million slum in America? You keep delving into unfamiliar waters. Someone could still come here and allege that your role models (Dangote's, Otedola's) amassed their wealth simply by courting the powers that be!?

Your definition of 'slum' in Nigeria simply wont define 'slum' in America.
Your definition of 'poverty' in Nigeria simply cant be used to define poverty in America.
Why? cos these things are relative. Whether there are slums in America or not should be least of your worries....

The 'slums' that have been giving you the creeps in America are FUNCTIONAL in every sense of the word.
Functional Power Supply.
Functional Security.
Functional Road Network.
Functional Water Supply.
Functional Educational System.

Now, can you say same for most CITIES in our part of the world?

please, you can't even compare the crime rate casualty to that of Boko haram here, that's a very wrong motion.
Have you checked how many slums we have in Lagos without water and other good things of life? Do you see LTV, Channels and the rest showcasing it to investors?
The last census carried out still shows us Lagos is behind kano state, please people should stop inflating the figure..... Even 2015 election figure still shows it, so let us stop this millions we shout in Lagos.

Dangote, Otedola and Adenuga work hand in hand with the looters/Politicians to milk the country dry. In case you don't know/ Otedola's father was a former Governor of Lagos State, Dangote operates a cruel monopoly supported by his fellow thieves called Politicians and Adenuga is rumored to be a front man for a former military man. My point is all those you mentioned above have cooperated massively with Politicians to milk Nigeria dry and loot resources. Their road to billionaire status has been helped by Politicians in one way or the other. Stop praising them.

Any sane person knows that with the current situation of the country there is nothing to be optimistic about Nigeria. How dare you compare U.S.A and Nigeria.

Even when such persons come, nigerians in their usual fashion keep pouring bile on them for no reason. Few years ago we were crying at the level of massive corruption in the country, God answered our cries and gave us Buhari. But what did we do? Some nigerians have taken it as their life's ambition to destroy any action against the looters. They use religion, tribe, conspiracy theories and all manner of lies to soil the fight.

Our leaders are not our problem. Nigerians are nigeria's problem

Stark Illiterate . The photo used by that guy on the article is not Detroit, he's just trying to be sensational. That's manilla Philippines. there's no such slum in America, just run downed buildings and abandoned buildings. Poverty in a first world nation is different from poverty in a third world country .
Nigeria will never be a developed first world country. Nigeria will always be a third world shiithole . stop consoling yourself . Lagos is a shiithole incomparable to Dhaka Bangladesh,Luanda Angola, and some other third world countries. When Lagos have a train system then Lagos can start competing with those other third world cities. Also ,It is foolish comparing south Africa to Nigeria. South Africa is even more developed than many European countries. stop consoling yourself . Nigeria is not Giant of Africa, just a large population of colonized stark illiterates like you. There's nothing appealing about Nigeria ,even the weather and atmosphere is inferior . most nice places in Nigeria are built and inhabited by multinationals ,embassies and expatriates.
Actually, Detroit has been bouncing back and is witnessing lots of urban renewal and investments . Below are some abandoned buildings in Detroit during the bankruptcy .

This thread is really silly. Nigeria- a country that doesn't give a fu¢k about its citizens, country where politicians loot us everyday, don't even talk about the billionaires please. No electricity, no water, worst roads in the world, no good railway, abegi op.I will rather live in the slump if it exists in America, but God forbid.

The population of Lagos is twice that of New York, but Lagos has lower crime rate than New York.
The largest megacity in Africa with the highest GDP , Lagos is the base of the richest blacks on earth and not America. The richest black man on earth, Alhaji Aliko DANGOTE, billionaires Dr. Mike ADENUGA, JR and Femi OTEDOLA made their billions in Nigeria with Nigerian natural resources. And millions of Nigerians have contributed to make Nigeria the largest economy in Africa.
I agree with you on this.
Newyork city has a large crime rate. Home of terrorists & drug dealers.
Nigeria is still better than some countries in the world.

Orikinla is a funny dude. He's just spewing out garbage about a country he has never step his foot on. The article he was posting about America was a right wing racist guy who hates Obama and people that looks like him. The guy is trying to compare US to Nigeria where an average citizen makes less than $2 a day and where very few things work. No Electricity, There is not a single Hospital in the country that is up to World Class Standard according to UNESCO. The infrastructures are nothing to write home about. The leaders are very corrupt and Nepotism and Tribalism are the order of the day. Comparing the slums in America and trying to show his patriotism is as whacked as it gets.

You keep posting craps about a country you have never been to. The first picture you posted is not Detroit because America doesn't build their houses with thin pan roof like that. Yes, there are slums in America but those slums are better than a middle class neighborhood in Nigeria with all amenities that you can only dream of in your Third World Hell hole. You only name 3 Billionaires in Nigeria that are proxies for the Lootercrats and Thieflicians in a country of 180 million people. Their wealth is debatable. We have more than 50 Billionaires in Chicago land area alone. So what says you. With all your Dangote,Adenuga and co, your average Nigerian still makes less than $2 a day. You have no Electricity and Portable Water. Your Educational system is a mess shunning out Hundreds of thousands of Graduates every year with no prospect for gainful employment. The Roads Network is a shame. The Economy is a mess and the Worthless Naira is falling like a Rock. No single Hospital in Nigeria is up to World Class Standard according to UNESCO hence your corrupt and worthless leaders will travel abroad in a jiffy for Ear infections while majority of people like you who sing their praises will go to some Worthless General Hospitals where people die of treatable Malaria and Typhoid. Once again, the article you are referring to was not an Editorial from Forbes Magazine, it's just one Racist Obama hater who can't stand people that looks like you. So get your facts right before posting craps here because people who are more intellectual than you here will call you out.

Orikinla is just an old fool trying to appear smart about a country he knows nothing about. His problem is Nigeria where nothing works except corruption, nepotism and tribalism. The President of the Senate and his vice are indicted for forgery and corruption and he's mouthing off about a First World Country several Thousands miles away. Charity begins at home.

That guy doesn't have a clue. Mandela was treated in South Africa till he passed away. Nigerian Leaders will fly out ala Yar Adua, Patience Jonathan, Babaginda, Buhari and co and even the so called debatable Nigeria billionaires while majority of them die of treatable diseases. What a shame.

Can you imagine Mr. Obama going to Israel, India, England, Russia or anywhere in the globe for medicals? It is simply too much of a risk and he'd better just die of his ailment or the secret police would just help out....Cos it's a liability the US government cant just afford. There are few clean billionaires in Nigeria. Most of them are politically exposed.

I won't even go out of US for treatment talk less of Obama. Guys like Orikinla don't see anything wrong with that. Their hatred for America is beyond comprehension.
