All hope is not lost..

Try and extract the reasons for her rejection.. better still, apply for the GCMS file to understand more about her rejection..
did u prove that she truly ur daughter? Like a birth certificate showing ur name and her names on it?

Updated:

The letter has downloaded well. The Reasons for her application refusal are family ties in Canada and country of residence and Purpose of visit.

Hello Everyone,

This is going to be a long post so please pardon me. I only stumbled upon this thread after I had submitted my Canada Study Visa Application; after being a silent follower, I resolved to share my testimony when it came, hence, my joining at this time.

From the top; I was pressed for time so I applied for my TRV soon as my Letter of Acceptance came in, so I crash-coursed my online application, medicals and biometrics in a span of 2 days, so my application and biometrics was done on the 20th of May, 2016. Following this, I came across this forum online, I read through all the threads and I must say this is a commendable arena as the feeling of community is laudable. However, I will say I was very worried and anxious as I discovered that 1/15th of the documents most people submitted, I did not submit. Literally, I submitted only the documents that was asked on my online checklist. I contacted VFS severally to ask if I was in the wrong and should add additional documents and they just kept referring me back to the website. I went ahead to contact the International Students Office in my school and the response was that as a 1st time study applicant, it was advisable that I include all and any relevant documents though I should bear in mind that each application is case-specific and the VO will treat each case individually. I was of double mind whether or not to submit additional documents as some people on this forum did. I, however, trusted God and realised that I would be acting from a place of fear to do so. Please, don't get me wrong-I am not saying this was a wrong option, I simply did not feel that was the thing to do,judging from my spirit. I even discussed it with some close friends to know if I was insane (I am fortunate that they believed with me). So I left my application as is and kept praying to God and praising Him in belief. I will not lie, it was not easy; I kept doubting but would remain resolute despite how I felt or the thought of fear. I then read someone's testimony recently on the fact that he saw mistakes on his application and also submitted a minimal amount of documents and God came through for Him (did I mention I also later saw a typo on my LOE?!! Lol!). I tapped into this testimony and still kept believing.

So today, I got the usual 'no update' message from CIC. I, then, out of worry, I must confess, contacted VFS to ask if it was normal to go for 2 months with no medical call mail from CIC. Not long after the mail I sent, I got the 'You have a message' mail from CIC; opening my CIC account reminded me of a member, on this forum, who said opening her account was the longest 5 minutes of her life. I understood it perfectly. On opening it, I saw the usual 'You have no messages' column but I opened the 'check messages' column and saw medical passed. Much as I was relieved, I became worried again as I felt that would mean another faith-fear battle waiting for a final decision. For some reason (ITK, I suppose or joblessness or looking for hope), I scrolled down my account, only to see a 'Passport Request Letter' message. I scrolled up again just to be sure I saw the 'medical passed' message. I did. Nothing else changed but on scrolling down, I still saw the Passport request message. On opening it, the letter confirmed what I suspected-My passport has been requested.

I simply share this to give hope to someone out there in a situation similar to mine; if God says its your time, it is your time. Believe in God. If He did it for others, He will do it for you. This message may not be for everyone but for that one person, I hope it makes the difference.

A few things I learnt; Everyone's case is peculiar, prepare as well as you can. If you realise a mistake after application, please do what you feel is right, you can seek guidance but ultimately make whatever decision you believe is best. Secondly, precedents are valuable but please bear in mind that each application is reviewed on its own merit.

I am aware there are a lot of gurus on this forum; I am not 1 and I respect everyone who contributes meaningfully. I only thought to encourage someone.

I will be schooling in Toronto. I submitted:
-The CIC Forms
-Sponsor's Letter of Sponsorship(My Father)
-Sponsor's Proof of Income Tax Document (Notarised)
-Proof of Medical Exam
-Passport Data Page
-Letter of Acceptance/Admission
-Letter from School to Immigration
-Letter of Explanation

Some specific details that make my case peculiar:
a. My travel history shows I travel yearly, to different countries, for quite some time.
b. I have a previous masters in Law from the UK; I explained in my LOE that I require another Masters as I am changing areas of interest, though in the same field of law.
c. My Sponsor lives in America ( I explained in the LOE that this would guarantee that my Tuition and other payments will be made unhindered by exchange rates or transfer issues).

At the end of it all, the race is not to the swift...... I am grateful. Keep up the good work guys. I pray everyone that is hopeful will have testimonies to share. Wishing everyone the very best.

I could be wrong but I think this might be why one is advised to first apply alone and apply for the family when one HAS established the purpose of the of the family members visit by resuming in school first then inviting them over to come visit.By purpose of visit I suppose that means they can't establish her purpose of visit in retrospect considering you the principal applicant are yet to resume school.

In your SOP did you communicate the plan for her care when you are receiving lectures in school when in canada?

I once read a post of a lady already schooling and invited her hubby and daughter over but the hubby was granted and the daughter wasn't n reason for rejection was something about how the child would return back to Nigeria after visiting the mother since the husband's who would accompany her to Canada was only visiting for some weeks upon which he would return back to work in nigeria and they didn't state if the child would return with him or at a later date

I also applied recently but was told that my hubby n daughter should gather their application docs. N once am dare even if its within d first week dey can go ahead n apply

Tuition fee will definitely be higher in Naira. The exchange rate was 153-160 / Canadian dollar, but its now 220- 230/ Canadian dollar.

Glory Halleujah!!

I thank God for everything and i believe it can only be by Him that this came about. Like i posted earlier I received passport request today.

So my timeline is:

Submitted online: May 27th
Biometrics: May 31st
Medical passed and passport request: July 19th

Even though my daughter's wasnt approved, i dont want to be ungrateful to God because of That. Its just a matter of short time and she will come. Infact I thank God especially that they didnt even delay mine becuase of her.

I want to thank everyone here. I read and reread this thread like kilode. My husband will be saying, you and Nairaland. He doesnt know this is where i get all my tactics/strategies from.

Great job people and i wish everyone God's speed. One love

@lawmerchant, copied this on cic help centre/ website. Minor Children can study without study permit.

Can a minor child go to school in Canada without a study permit?
New rules for prospective international students are now in effect (as of June 1, 2014).
Read about these changes and how they may impact you.
Generally, minor children need to apply for a study permit from outside of Canada, if they want to go to study in Canada. However, a minor child can go to school without a study permit if:

one parent (biological or adoptive) is a Canadian citizen or permanent resident; or
one parent (biological or adoptive) is permitted to study or work in Canada; or
neither parent is physically in Canada.

Was this answer useful?

Hi guys,
Help me thank God, my friend got her passport request mail and medical update today ...
Well technically the mail came last night.
We both applied on the 27th of May.
Mine came last week and hers came this week.
Someone had a theory about when people get updates... It's quite wrong actually... Got mine on Thursday and she got hers on a Tuesday.

Sorry , You can't just conclude that it's wrong because your friend alone got a medical update today. More than 3 people have testified to it here. If your friend got her medical update today, It doesn't mean I'm wrong. Besides its only a theory I shared, you don't have to believe it.

If you check his post well, he said "mostly" not "must" i.e there could be arbitrary situations. But rily i dont know some people are just hell bent in proving other people wrong. A theory that has been widely acclaimed
