It has become necessary to talk about the new scammers on auto section now before we hear 'stories that touch'.

In the past few days scammers have flooded the auto section with their ads with ridiculously low prices.

An avid auto section member knows these scammers but i wanna believe that while a lot of people visit this section many aren' versed with the prices of vehicles, which can make them fall for this scammers.

As I am typing this post, i noticed that the scammers have changed their mode from ridiculous low prices to real close value even, though is still very low prices.

Unsuspecting nairalanders can easily fall for these scammers because they change modes of operating daily. We are our brothers keepers, lets not do like its none of our business.

I have even mail the mods on this section, they didn't reply neither has anything been done about it.

Lets make people aware anyway we can.

I was also copied, am I a scammer?

If I wasn't coppied, I wouldn't have seen this post.

Meanwhile I will click on add autos on followed boards, and catch as many scammers as I can.

He was simply asking a harmless question.

Perhaps he thought the scammers were the ones copied and he was simply trying to defend one he was sure of.

I have to copy una to show face. As long as one or two show face, the others in the ring are already aware.

Please do your research before making false assumption, I'm not a new comer as you speculated, people like Charlexo (Ceekay) , Poregianautos (Kay) knows my office.
Pls endeavour to point out where I posted a car that with suspicious price tag, any cars I have posted here are available for inspection.

Yes, alot of them, especially all those new ones that just registered, but there is no much i can do, even the mods on this section are either sleeping, don't know their job, tired of their job or condone this scammer

Besides this scamming thing, I think it wont be a bad idea to set some ground rules/standards for car sale adverts on Nairaland. Personally, I find it very annoying that someone would create a thread to sell a car, and he wont put up the vehicle's VIN or even the vehichle's price (even if nah asking price,....just put am!).
Really, how do you make a safe and informed decision about a car you intend to buy without the benefit of first researching the history of the car even before you begin to price?

I don't know if I was 'cc'ied, but I will still comment. My moniker is not mcmilla, but macmilla. But since no one else on nairaland bears mcmilla as moniker, I will assume OP intended to mention me.

My rule of the thumb when buying a used car or any car at all.

1. If it is "too good to be true", then it's most likely not true.

2. If actually it is true, then there is "reason" why it is "too good". No Nigerian sells a car at "give away" price. Everyone wants the best deal for his ride. So if the price is low, look closer, you will definitely see why.

3. Why on earth would you pay for a car you've not seen? Do I need to explain advance fee fraud to you?
Go and see the car, test it, confirm it's OK, pay and carry it home in one unbroken process.

4. Request for every single detail you feel is necessary, even if it's the the shoe size of the owner. If the seller can not give you all the information you need, then he is not ready to sell.
As for those that don't put asking price, telling everyone to call to know the price, I have a question for you. Are you looking for ppl to call ur phone or buyers for ur car? Whenever I see such adverts, my scam alert rings.

5. Any seller that can not say the specific location of his car is a scammer. How will I come for inspection if I don't know the location?

6. For those that will say they are in America but d car is in Nigeria, Na God go judge una. If actually you are in Panya, it means you've not seen d said car in a couple of months at least. You will start telling me no pictures, shey? My brother, how are you selling what you are not even sure still exist. Remember someone has d key here.
If you can't get someone to help u sell ur car while u are there,....... Scam alert.

These are my opinions. They are not open for debate.

Also, a Supermod (Dominique) replied to my mail, but her options aren't really a solution. So, i have made suggestions to her but she hasn't reply me yet.

Lets get rid of these petty thieves.
