I didn't pay for hearing test. It's not compulsory... Even tho I didn't use ur Hosp.
I did it my self... Do it naija style.... Just shout chei and see if the baby won't wake up or shake ( or even b frightened). I did one ear at a time
Two routine visit first visit because of registration it was 65 dollars or so subsequent was 55 or 50. Check November 10th or 11th post I posted details on this
Dr's fee doesn't cover scan. My friend used him.. She was ranting how she had to pay for scan.

Hello people, been stalling on sharing my birth as I was waiting to receive all my bills. Had my baby in July through c-section delivery at Sisters of Charity hospital, Buffalo in New York. For those interested in birthing in New York, bills are
Hospital: mother 4861, child: 1491 for self pay.

Doc: (used Buffalo ob gyn) I was quoted 2200 for c-section and 2k for vaginal delivery but ended up paying1450$. I met with the billing manager and she billed me based on the number of visits I had. I had only 3 visits with them before my surgery and she said 1k is their cost for surgery.
Epidural: 800 on the condition that I pay before surgery. Their initial quote was 3k. Thank God I called before the surgery.
Am still waiting for the Paediatrician bill for hospital visit
After discharge Paediatrician visit: 153$
Ultrasound:130$
Hiv: 130$. It's compulsory for one to do the hiv test.
In all, God really showed himself and one thing I learnt is we could always ask for additional discount. All thr best to everyone. The phone numbers are on the website.
For the doctor's office, I was rotated between two doctors. the one that took my delivery isn't so patient friendly, they spend little time with you as they are in a hurry to attend to the next person. But they know their job. So if u need a doctor that would gist with u, u could check another doctor office.

Congratulations!!!! Welcome to the world LO!!

@ favoredgirl,

48 hours starts counting the minute you check in and by 12 midnight that day, the first 24 hours has gone. That's why people complain of being overcharged by hospital.

Finally Dr F got to me by 10.30 am today and I had my very beautiful baby 12.25 pm.weighs 3.57 kg. So I have forgiven him and hope he changes for the better.

Yippee am a FTM and am so in love with my Angel.

Good evening everyone! Wow finally I have arrived!Arrived US via Washington Dulles POE.Flew Turkish airlines. Flight was good. services weren't bad either. Had a layover of over 10 hours. Meal was provided while i was at the airport. I wanted a room too but they said there was no room available at that momen. Airport is a big and busy one so there was never a dull moment. Thank you so much guys for all the advice and stories shared here…Thanks a lot for all the responses to my questions..God bless you all and may he fill the desires of our hearts...Amen! God indeed directed me here to ensure I have a testimony. I will split my transcript into two parts cz it was quiet a long experience. Here goes my transcript:

Part 1:

CBP: Good morning Ma’am
ME: Good morning Sir
CBP: Who are you visiting?
Me: My Uncle
CBP: For what?
Me: Childbirth and vacation
CBP: Are you traveling alone and are you married?
Me: Yes I’m alone (like obviously...) and I’m married
CBP: So where is your husband? Why didn’t he come with you?
Me: He’s in Nigeria and work wouldn’t permit him to come now; so he would come 2weeks before my edd.
CBP: I see you did not bring food? Why? I’m hungry (meanwhile he was eating something that looked like gala)…lol
Me: oh sorry, I didn’t know I would meet you hungry, I should have brought food for you...maybe next time
CBP: Are you pregnant? And do you plan to birth on this trip?
Me: Yes I am pregnant and will deliver my baby on this trip
CBP: So why didn’t you say so? You said you were coming to visit your uncle
Me: I said so! You asked "who" am I coming to visit and I said my Uncle; then you asked for what and I said Childbirth and vacation (I think he was trying to get at me here to see if I will declare my true intentions cz he was looking suspicious)
CBP: Oh sorry Ma’am I didn’t hear that.
Me: It’s ok.
He also asked how much I had for the trip. I said $10,600…then he screamed “with you right now?”...I said oh no, $4k in cash and the rest on my bank cards.
He did a little of typing and then gave me my passport and said; Enjoy your stay Madam.
Omo see me rejoicing that I was done! Lol! I was already buzzing Hubby that I have reached and POE was successful. Hubby then said I should check how long i was stamped in for, nah in I kon dey find stamp ooo…I no see.

Hmmm...

Part 2:

Got to the exit point, nah hin the officer sent me for secondary inspection (on top say I no carry food ooo…these CBP Officers are not smiling. Washington POE officers dey form tough one kain).
I got to secondary inspection, waited for almost 2hours before they called my name.
CBP: Why are you visiting?
Me: Childbirth and Vacation
CBP: Do you have a hospital yet?
Me: Yes I do…was bringing out my hospital correspondence when the guy said I should give him all the documents in the folder so do not put any paper you do not want them to see in your hand luggage...cz you just may be asked for it. He went through all the papers one by one and was asking questions like; where does your husband work? Why isn’t he here with you? Is this your first baby? I see your payslips, how much is it in dollars? I see you notified the Embassy of your travel plans but this isn’t your first time of visiting…well, that’s good. How come the hospital gave you a good rate? It’s pretty expensive to birth there. And your airline allowed you to travel at 34wks...how come? my doctor deemed me fit to fly. Where do you work? How long are you here for? Have you contacted any church or government agency seeking for aid?
Sweeties, the questions kept coming but oh Lord, I was fully prepared with evidences and God was indeed on my side. So my confidence level was high.
CBP: Why did you choose to birth in the US? Why not UK since you’ve visited UK several times? Or is it because US gives automatic citizenship and UK does not.
Me: Not exactly Sir. It is because US has a better health care system compared to where I’m coming from. US is a developed country while my country is still developing.
CBP: Oh Madam, do not play games with me…be sincere. You are here for the citizenship… we meet a lot of pregnant women like you and we sure know how to deal with issues like this. So cut the games and tell me the truth.
Me: I’m being sincere Sir. I’m here because this is my first baby and I want the best health care I can get anywhere in the world. And you would agree with me that US has the best health care system.
Na hin the guy mute…lol
Last last he counted my money and then told me the usual conditions: tell the hospital to give you receipt of full payment and bring them with you on your next trip; you are not eligible for any kind of aid. If you do not meet these conditions, you definitely will be here for a very long time the next time you visit! Na hin the guy stamp me in for 6months. I thank am, thank my God and I walked away. I think the guy who interviewed me is from a POE like Chicago cz he mentioned something about Chicago to a lady who stood beside him.
To God alone be all the glory. Apologies for the long post…it was a pretty long experience.
Abeg if your story no tally or documents are not convincing enough; DO NOT GO THROUGH THIS POE because they sent every pregnant woman for secondary inspection irrespective of where they were coming from and whether you have food or not.

Apologies once again for the long post. I hope you've learned something from my experience. I will be keeping you posted on hospital parole. The Journey just began! wish me luck! grin
