Secondly, what's the best SL margin to use?

I totally agree with you on that last point. Being a newbie, I depend on signals to trade. Case in point, pic attached, $50 investment, micro acct with 0.01 money management. I took that trade on a BUY and it changed lanes right before my eyes. Thankfully it was on demo, but I decided to let it ride, hoping it would recover after the effects of the news. Currently I'm on deficit of $25, Imagined that on a Live acct, I'd be seriously burnt. Looses are inevitable, but protecting yourself from a major one is key.

Pipsbasketing I wouldn't mind taking one or two pointers from you.

i am really an advocate of building small capitals(not investing more than i can loose without feeling it).If pipsbasketing can make 100% per week in some cases with this method then we can repeat the consistency the next week by doubling the lot size and make twice the previous week and repeat the process over and over until we get good enough capital like most 'ogas' in FTA-then we can relax with them and wait for 10% per month. The only way to achieve building an account from ground up is brutal and consistent accuracy. The quantum of pips that this pips basketing method can give will accelerate our getting financial freedom soonest.I have lost big funds before and i learnt never to bring in big money in fx,because just the way $20 can disappear in fx so also $5k can.So what counts is how accurate is your strategy?@pipsbasketing,my oga, i will open a separate demo on monday with $100 and trade the basket with 0.01(with another standard broker)-if it hits 100% within a week i will go live.Wish me luck with this my second experiment while the first one continues.

Bro, with pipsbasketing, it is possible but suicidal....kindly do the calculation yourself.....but please think less of the money you are getting but your tested and working strategy......just like currentprice stated.

Lesson
In this business, what you earn now matters less, but what you earn in the long run is the key. Try not to hit and run, account maintenance matters most.

I seek knowledge, still doing so. Trying to consume every thing I can lay my hands on. I learnt to succeed, one must seek knowledge first, which is what I'm trying to do. You have a funny way of making your points grin grin

Pipsbasketing:
If you really want to be effective at applying excellent Risk/Money Management.....Think about this

2014, I had the urge to do a fixed deposit of about 1.5M with one of our Nigerian banks, thus curious about what the interest on the fixed deposit would be. I did the survey on about 5 top banks and the maximum interest rate I could get was about 5-6% per annum. I started with FirstBank on monthly rollover based. Surprisingly, the 5-6% was again manipulated to suit the monthly based plan, like it was again divided by 12. I got almost nothing and had to quit after 2months of dissatisfaction.

Some months after, I went into some banks in England to do fixed deposit with them hoping to earn my interest in pounds. In fact, the most shocking, the bank managers told me point blank that there is almost zero interest in fixing money with them. I did not think it twice, I knew fixing money in banks may not yield a feasible interest.

Fast forward early this year, I contacted the banks again, particularly GTB. The agent mentioned about 5% per annum. I told her to not let us discuss % but the value. I asked her to help tell me the interest value per annum on 500k fixed deposit, she did it and gave me an answer of about 11k interest per annum. I got totally discouraged about fixing money.

That has helped me to think if I can trade FX with a confirmed assurance of constant minimum monthly inflow of 20% (no greed here), it might sometimes be more and that is why I leave trade to trend to exhaustion on the daily TF, that will do. With the assurance, one can live on FX with good capital.

Lesson
-When you fund your FX live account, think about it in a form of fixed deposit. your assured 20% constant monthly profit is far better than the annual interest you would have got if fixed in the bank
-Why the greed?
-Learn to ride slowly and steadily: I have abandoned the FX market many times, many years. This is 2016, the market still exists.
-Use comfortable lot size that will put your mind at rest.
-What many people neglect is testing also their risk/money management skills on demo, they only focus on testing strategies: Excellent strategy, poor Risk/Money management is failure

@bluepearls, u r making the very first mistake Fx traders do make.

Don't think about how much u r going to make on a daily, weekly basis.
But, how much u can protect your capital.... In Fx, u only know ur risk not returns.
Do ur due diligence, and returns will come in due time....

Having Daily, Weekly targets put more pressure on you especially when it is not reasonable, You can however have monthly targets but that shouldn't be a cause for trading, not every day, week, month will be the same, just always ensure u " break even at least every month"

Peace

hi guys, I know there are many xm clients here, kindly answer this question 'does xm accept temporary driving license? But d license expired aprij 2016. Will it b accepted?

I am both a registered XM client and an affiliate too.

What other form of ID do you have? Using a temporary driving license would be an issue let alone using an expired one. They need a VALID ID. If it were still valid, they might be considerate after a lot of explanation and if your proof of residency is okay. I doubt they will accept it.

For those who have a valid ID and can provide proof of residence (Utility bill or bank statement with the same name on the ID) you can get a free $30 to try out your old/new techniques to perfection.

The good thing is any profit made can be withdrawn.

Also, For the gurus in the house, there is an ongoing contest with juicy prizes up for grabs.

Check my signature to register to either get the free $30 or register for the contest.

Any question for clarity will be entertained.

Thanks guys.. I really appreciate the comments.. The hustle is hard; D

What I've learnt so far
1. Learn to deal with the risk
2. Don't jump the gun when you've not learnt the ropes
3. Have a feasible target
4. Build from the ground up, maybe be tedious at first but the knowledge gained along the way is essential
5. Perfect your strategies, learn new ones if you have to, but don't overwhelm yourself. Stick with what works

Am I on track guys? Oh! I'm stuck at No. 5, any help will be appreciated.

The market is dynamic don't be rigid. Follow the trend till it says other wise.

7. Have a viable daily and weekly target depending on vigorous backtest of your strategies to ascertain what's possible.

8. Never put all your hope in one trade.

Forex Weekly Outlook August 8 – 12

The US labor market added stunning 255,000 jobs to the payrolls in July, even with an uninspiring 1.2 percent second quarter GDP growth rate and weaker than expected orders. The labor market doesn’t seem to be slowing down anytime soon. Both wages and average work week also surged in July, confirming the strength of the jobs created as it cuts across manufacturing, healthcare, retails, temporary-help agencies and leisure and hospitality industries.

@pipsbasketing,how was your weekend.Guess you had a nice one.I have a question for you,in your honest opinion apart from the fact that you were too busy offline to cope with the 4hrs basket-method,do you think that daily chart basket can give results faster than the 4hrs basket?for example to a target of 100% would 4hrs get there before daily for your experience(though we all know the answer)?I am starting a new demo daily chart basket today like you recommended.I will hint us as the basket is being loaded.

Bro Lawson007, I may not want to further advise that you should focus more on your very tested and working strategies rather than the return because only the market knows what the return is. But nonetheless, I will say below:

If you check my posts from lifecontinues, I once mentioned that I made 100% twice in a week when I was trading H4 but could not sleep for straight 8hours cos I needed to update my basket every 4hrs. trading H4, your no. of losses and gains increase as compared with the daily. Mind you, there might be some weeks where you may record losses.

Hence, in the long run, I will say trading D1 gives (1) Peace of mind (2) Steady monthly returns (Here, I believe the overall success of this business is a steady return and not making 100% like some guys that record 1500% on their FF so-called temporary explorer and the next week you have no where to find the explorer. If you do the assignment, click on their trading return graphs (for those that have not privatised theirs) and you will be shocked by the very uneven and chaotic returns over time. Why should they deceive people only when they have +ve returns, making it public and privatise in their time of losses?
