sir, the bus is a private bus (nissan vannette) and it has been in use for about 7 years, the bus was purchased and registered by my mother, and the number plates are blue.

Sometimes you just have to learn to show these people you know your right and won't allow people take you for a ride. In Nigeria it is sometimes necessary.

Very very illegal! Check the Second and the Fifth Schedule of the Nigerian Constitution, you will see all the rates, levies, taxes Local Government is expected to collect.
In those provisions, mechanically propelled things are not included except wrong parking penalty.

Its very legal, its done in every state in nigeria, sumtimes they even ask for a badge.....d badge is given wen u make payment so always ask for it, as well as ur waste basket.....2ven if u drive outside lag dey wud still ask for it.

Private buses do not have to pay them.

This is because the Movie production company is a business as such the plates should be red. I assume the vehicle is branded too.

No its nt branded, its just usd to carry crew members and its registered in my boss's name, nt d compay

I don't know why some people will say things as useless as this is legal. I use Honda Ridgeline truck and they stop me almost everyday and you know what, I always tell them to Bleep off. Sir stand on your right and drag whoever ask you for those stupid papers to the court.

Yes. Local government papers are very legal for private buses. I think the list of collectible local government revenue items within Lagos state for a private bus are...
RADIO/TV PERMIT..
HACKNEY PERMIT...
ENVIRONMENTAL/WASTE BASKET/GASEOUS PE4MITS...

LOADING AND OFFLOADING PERMIT.... Becos u can choose to carry any stuff or goods at will.
NATIONAL CLEARANCE CERTIFICATE. .
BIOMETRIC CLEARANCE....
MOBILE WASTE BASKET. ...

Like the poster above me ,its called emblem and its for buses,pick ups,trucks etc even for official car, you can be stop any where in NIGERIA for it.if you go outside lagos mostly to the eastern part you regret the day you bought the vehicle
my take is acquire it to avoid embarassment ,negotiate properly it should not be more than 10k

Mr fowler the chairman of federal inland revenue has issued circular that emblem is illegal. That emblem has no ministry that issued it. For example you will see documents of niger state, kano state, osun state and kwara state in Lagos state. They are fraud take them to police station whenever they stop you.

What has the government done to protect us from this menace?
They have their offices within the lga secretariat, yet its illegal... I jus weak mehn .

The waste basket we had to pay for bore the logo of Ogepa' ogun state... The emblems n badges too.

I took photos of the documents they are brandishing as lga private vehicle permit... Most of them are for ogun state! Whereeas they being enforced in lagos state.
The waste bin also is branded 'OGEPA'
The mosan okunola lcda is complicit because the said task force have their office in their secretariat.

I will upload photos of all the documents they referred to as lcda private bus permit, some of which includes :
Hackney permit
Radio/tv permit
Loading permit
Environmental permit, et al.

They said that the state government mandated them to generate revenue in any way as they deem fit.
