MsNas. Thanks for the tip. Can you please forward a sample CV to my email address (noob_ig@yahoo.com). Thanks in anticipation. I sent you a PM but you are yet to acknowledge. Kind regards.

Just check online for samples based on your field/major and remember to highlight your skills and accomplishments, the most important ones at the top. That's what they need. If you embellish it, make sure you can defend it.

BTW Linkedin appears a more powerful tool now than merely dumping your resume into a pool...on company websites (some don't even make it to an actual person).

My Short travel experience

I took off from Lag with Qatar on 11th, 2:30pm Nigeria time.
We stopped at Doha and 2 hours after we kicked off to new york. 13 hours journey no be moi moi. They kept giving us food and drinks... Meanwhile pls and pls, when those oyibo FA ask what you want, make sure you hear well oooooo. because I heard rice in what they mentioned I quickly jumped to rice cos I believe nobody can go wrong in making rice not knowing its a vegetarian food.
They usually have two foods:one veg and one non veg. And they give you want. I drank enough Juice and cola to compensate their nonsense food. There are thousands of movies to watch.
I heard Ethiad dey serve peppersoup(someone should confirm tho)

Whoever brought the fear of POE should be flogged and jailed. DO NOT PANIC!!!

They don't even have time to drill you cos they know you had a long journey. they are just doing their job. I didn't spend more than five mins with the official. Showed them my passport, 1-20, scanned my finger prints and prolly took my pix and off I went.

And America is organized. In fact those people no like stress. Everything was spelt out in the airport. You can't get lost and even if you do, ask question. It was in Naija airport that the search was real but other airports had scanner or so. They didnt use their hands to search our carry ons.

Finally going to America was a mixed feeling. I wasn't excited and I wasn't sad either but I just knew it was a "start of something good".

Good thinking..once you're ready to put in the work.

Thanks

There is GA scholarship for NP's and few other healthcare fields but those schools are very few. The scholarship is not really much like that for other fields outside healthcare.

Unlike in Nigeria, rain don't come after hot summer here.

Weather in US is always extreme. Winter blizzard is another harsh weather you need to watch out for.

Lmao. Such a funny experience. One of the first things that hits you when you arrive in America is the accent. Suddenly, the English spoken all around you is soo different from what you've heard all your life. You struggle to hear the American accent, especially the core black american accent. In class, you squeeze your ears to make sure you get all your lecturer says, and initially you'd probably get about 80% to 85% of what was said. Also initially, you will be asked to repeat yourself a lot when you speak. Chai. I remember when flying from Lagos to Dubai on Emirates (Emirates was the cheapest and best flight option back then in late 2013 and early 2014 when I bought dollars for N154, and I was still complaining it was high. You can imaginecheesy. My one-way flight from Lagos to Maryland on Emirates was N180,000, but nowadays people are paying twice or thrice that amount), I told the flight attendant who was passing by repeatedly that I wanted malt but she still did not understand me. undecided I just settled for juice and water then. cry When almost everybody says 'sorry come again' when you speak, you suddenly begin to wonder if you really know English or if it is not the same English you are speaking that they speak too. grin I got told this a lot when I was new and I really hated having to repeat myself severally. I had to blend in very fast. Fast forward to 2.5 years after, I don't remember when last I was told to repeat myself. Now I easily switch accents between US and Naija depending on where I am at. At work or outside, I rap in the american accent and get what I want easily and while at home or on the phone with friends, family or relatives I switch to my naija accent, which they still say sounds 'American' to them. grin I guess my 'naija accent' has been mixed with the American one. grin Guys, it is effing awesome knowing how to switch between accents, and I've pranked my friends in Naija before by phone calls using my american accent and they could never tell a tad it was me.grin I understand both the general (or 'white' accent) and the black american accent perfectly now, though there is a very concentrated black English or 'ebonics', laced with real ghetto/hood slang and talk, which they speak mostly within themselves that I still struggle to understand. For the blacks, I would say that is their pidgin English and the general black american accent is their main English (more easily understood). It's good to look back sometimes and remember some issues you had to deal with in the past which you no longer have to anymore.

In all, welcome to America. You're in for a life changing experience. America has a way of changing or modifying somebody. Don't get lost in the blending in though. wink

Open google.com, search for schools doing MS in Microbiology with concentration in Immunology. Go to the department/graduate school site and look at their admission requirements. Check if you can meet their admission requirement, check the department faculty page to see if you will see any research work a faculty member on Immunology is doing that you might be interested in, contact the faculty member that you will like to work with him/her in thier lab, check the rating of the school, check for availability of funding. Then apply and wait for admission. Check School fees/living/housing ib school environment.
Goodluck with you!
