Those who threatened to kill him in front of the police are free, but someone who named his dog Buhari is in detention

Stop being unreasonable! Not everything is written in the constitution.
Tge Igbo guy's action is very provocative and could have led to civil unrest if the police didn't come in. Yes, You're free to name your dog as you deem fit but you must respect feelings of people around you in doing so.

Your right to freedom to name your dog as you like MUST NOT cause any discomfort to another man. If the Hausa mana had taken law in his hands and dispense jungle justice to that provocative Igbo man, you and your likes will run here to condemn him. Now that he did the right thing by reporting the case, you're talking gibberish of constitutionality.

Do you know how the civil war started?

9jacrip, well, maybe you have a little time to share with these people. Some of them lack any sort of critical thinking. You are on nairaland, a site that has been encapsulated by those who lack the capacity for objective reasoning. Many of them aspire to live in developed and unrepressed societies but they shy away from according the legal due to everyman.

The law is not a sentiment or moral compass. It does not define right or wrong, just legal and illegal. If you predicate "breach of public peace" on the irrationality and intolerant reaction of one towards the legal action of another, you are just a primal beast unworthy of being called a human with sound thought.

actually, taunt like this triggered the pre-civil war pogrom in the North.

We are gradually getting there again.

Kid, you can name your pet as you wish and there won't be any issue if it's done in good taste. But when you do it in bad taste, as in this case where there is a feud btw those involved, the Hausa man has a right to object. Here, it was done to ridicule the man. Context and intention matter. Get exposure!

Actually, no.

Taunting people who where mudered by the group of the taunter caused it.

We do not have to sensationalize a harmless stuff by throwing civil war around as a scare tactic.

You have time to argue with these fools sha. Their hypocrisy is out of this world. Just imagine a northerner who lives in anambra, naming his dog Obiano, and then inscribing it on both sides of the dog's body. There would be serious outcry. Worse would be done to him.

Naming your Dog Buhari , writing it on your dogs body , then parading it in a region where Northerners live is nothing but stupidity

You're too unintelligent for me to engage!
Only the intelligent ones will understand that inscribing the name on the dog is in bad taste. Obviously done after mere naming the dog did not have the intended desired effect.
I can school you on logic! Good day.

I think the Igbo guy was wrong here, naming the dog is not an issue but inscribing the name on both parts of the body in a predominantly Hausa neighborhood is inciting. What was he thinking, I've never seen anything like inscription of names of dogs on them before

I see your problem now.

When it is Yoruba vs Igbo jabs, it could be fun.

When it is PDP vs APC jibes, it could also be fun.

But when you let these two past time activities becloud your senses and get you so wired that you would argue for anything as long as it is Igbo, then uncle you have a problem -- a mental one at that.

Goodbye.

Your justification is stupid. Buhari is the president of this country. Nigeria, as a whole, is his constituency.

This is very annoying. What does he intend to achieve by this provocative act? I commend the northerners for bringing this to the attention of the police.

This people are really agents of devil or descendants of Satan himself. How else do you want me to explain this. Imagine the amount of blood that will be shed if a Fulani man takes law into his hand and kills the ijiat.

The law should make a scape goat out of this unfortunate devil incarnate.

The name is not preserved for Buhari alone. He didn't hang Buhari's picture around the dog's neck na.

Obama was taunted forever by whites shen he won the first term election especially, I do not think FBI was beating down people's doors for it.
