The key is the rice. You got to know how to parboil rice. All the ingredients for the fried you don't need to prepare because it's already prepared. I use, large prawns, onions, vegetable mix, chicken, chopped kidney, chicken stock to cook the rice, and curry. Like i said, the key is the rice. If you don't parboil it right, it will come out soggy. Boil the chicken first and and when it's done, mix the stock with water to cook the rice. Fry your vegetable mix with the prawns and add the rice. I also add soy sauce when frying. It gives it a unique taste. There are many variations but i like this one best. It's easy for me.

You're going to have to try harder than this dear. Some people on this forum too are just scraping by even though they live abroad and seem to be eating anything they like as you put it!
If you are serious about looking for extra income to support your family have you thought of the following:

1. Offering services to families with children as a home tutor(this is the summer period, many parents want their children engaged)
2.Offering nanny services for reasons stated above.
3. Can you engage in petty trading in your hostel? Even if just pure water for a start?
4. Try these and let's see how it goes.

Unfortunately because of nairalanders general experience with scammers and tales like this it'll be difficult for people to just randomly send you cash and so on! But all the same i wish you well in your endeavours

If you cook wit cocoyam, you get a much lighter colour.

It's basically same recipe.
-Boil meat and stockfish.
-add pepper, crayfish, and stock cubes
-add ogiri (that smelly stuff wrapped with leaves)
-add your already cooked and pounded cocoyam and let it boil till the cocoyam dissolves.
-add cut oha leaves
-add uziza leaves (optional)
-Bring to boil and turn off the gas
