What are the implications of applying for a tier 4 visa a week before your course start date as stated in your CAS? Is there any possibility of you being denied the visa?

There is always a possibility of being denied.
Then it will depend on how long it takes to process and receive your visa, book tickets and travel.
Better to get a letter from your school allowing you to join slightly late.
Have this to show at POE.

Thank you for the info. Is priority(in terms of speedy approval of visa) given to those who previously studied in UK?

Hi house,
I had my visa appointment since on the 5th August and on the 9th August I got his email from VISAINFO.SHEFO
"Your online application has been received in Sheffield, UK. Your application is currently being prepared for consideration by an Entry Clearance Officer." But till today I am yet to receive any email stating my visa application decision.
Does it take this long to get a visa decision from the Sheffield visa section?
I'm worried coz the date of traveling is quite close.
I also applied on the 4th and got the same mail. Don't be worried. Just wait for the 15 working days. I guess it's because this is a peak period and they have so many applications to process

How about applying two weeks to start date using the standard priority application? My 28days count will end on the 7th of September and start date is 26th of september. I intend applying for visa and tb test between 12th and 16th. If i apply for priority visa application, hope i don't stand a chance of being denied bearing in mind start date which is 26th.

I think you should message the school about this, they might have something helpful.
Don't panic, just message the school.

And Good luck with it.

Contact your school and ask for a letter allowing delayed start (usually a couple of weeks is the maximum.)
A priority visa must still meet all the requirements the same as standard application.

Please house, I applied online on the 10th of August at the rate of 1pound to 419.142 naira and I had enough money then but I just checked now and it's almost 450+ to one pound which exceeds my balance(I calculated with 440). Please will this affect my application in anyway? Cc justwise
My interview was on the 12th of August.

Hello guys,

I am presently in shock as result of the giant downward path Naira has embarked on. I have kept maintenance money in my account for more than 3 months now. Each time my 28 days counting is about to complete the Naira will slide further. Last Friday was the latest one, from N419 it moved downward to N449 and now N445.

At this point, my school resumes on 26th Sept I just have to apply now. Please I will like to know if there is anyone who has experienced this situation before and applied like that.

Please share your experience with me here.

Thank you.

Hi everyone,

today is the 14th day since i had my interview and i haven't even received a decision mail. i was worried so i decided to call the ukvi help line to track it and i was told decision has been made. how will i even know when to collect if TLS doesn't even update their website to reflect that decision has been made or email from sheffield.

has anyone experienced this?

First of all, at what rate did u calculate with? Same happened to me and i had to project and used a high rate incase it keeps increasing. First of all we need to know what you used in Calculating. As for the application, to be honest with you, the best thing at the moment is to start planning to pay for priority if u want your decision within 5-7working days. Right now am on my 12th day of counting. I believe the rate will decrease gradually but i doubt if it will get upto 400.

Honestly you have to wait until you receive the notification for collection.

My interview was on the 12th of August.

I don't think there's anything to worry about.
I applied on Wednesday 17th August and not bordered about the current rate cos the UKVI said there use the exchange rate of the day of submission.
Experts please confirm or correct my comment.

Unfortunately, you can't control the market but I strongly advise you to apply as soon as possible. Remember, the ukvi will use the rate on Oanda on the day you pay ur visa fee.

They use the day of application i.e the day you paid your visa fee not the submission day. Unless you paid on ur submission day.

My dear if u havent submitted ur bank statement to d uni for issuance of CAS then would advice u pay some more tuition deposit to the school and tell them to update it on your cas so that the tuition fee balance left in ur account would be reduced if the fluctuation has really affected your balance. Wishing u all the best.

Same thing happened to me, so I had to pay for accommodation. I paid 1265 pounds cos that's the maximum amount that can be deducted from the maintenance fund so don't pay more. I am going to London though but I think it's less outside London.

House, I just found out a trick about predicting exchange rate on Oanda. Oanda uses the average or mean fluctuations of the previous day to arrive on their selling rate. In case you have not applied, you can go to Xe or download the app. Whatever is their lowest and highest rate today will be reflected on Oanda tomorrow. That was how I made my prediction before my application. Remember to put ur closing balance in Naira on the left side as the currency you have and check the equivalent on the right as the currency you want. If you do otherwise, you'll get a different value. All the best.
