Same thing happened to me, so I had to pay for accommodation. I paid 1265 pounds cos that's the maximum amount that can be deducted from the maintenance fund so don't pay more. I am going to London though but I think it's less outside London.

Please

1. Can I use Form A to pay for my accomodation?

2. Can I use Form A to receive my upkeep and living expenses when I get to UK & open a UK account?

Thanks.

Please House

I went to Diamond Bank today to inquire about using Form A to pay my tuition.
I was told I will incur the following expenses:

1. 1% + 5% VAT of Naira equivalent.

2. $25 CBN charge

3. 5000 Naira Telex charge

Please did anyone experienced this?
Is this how its done? These charges are high. I might have to look for an alternative.

Hi everyone,

today is the 14th day since i had my interview and i haven't even received a decision mail. i was worried so i decided to call the ukvi help line to track it and i was told decision has been made. how will i even know when to collect if TLS doesn't even update their website to reflect that decision has been made or email from sheffield.

has anyone experienced this?

when did you have your interview? I am not sure if you mean 14 days or 14 working days that is why. usually you should recieve collection mail in 2or 3 working days after decision has been made (FOR ABUJA VAC).

My honest opinion to you is the charges are negligible compared to your school fees, and your major headache right now should be whether they will pay your fees in time. FORM A is no more as quick and easy as it sounds. Diamond bank seems to be your best option at this point. but I must also let you know they have not been able to deal any FORM A since 4th of August. so if you have any alternative that is NOT form A, use it.
If form A is your only option, then I advice you go with Diamond bank. but ask the house if anybody has had any success with form A recently, if yes, thne use the bank they used.

I also heared Firstbank can do a swift transfer to your school, and they will charge you at a rate slightly higher than CBN, but when I went to Abuja branches, they said you need to have a Domiciliary account.

If you are in Lagos, just find out (I guess you can do it in Lagos. you know connection helps a lot).

My advice is that you keep praying, wait for 15 working days to elapse, then wait patiently for another 3 days, after the 3 days, call UKVI again to let them know and just do whatever they tell you to do.

your final option will be to just take your collection slip to the VAC and say you are here for collection. they will check their system and let you know if your documents are with them or not.

They use the day of application i.e the day you paid your visa fee not the submission day. Unless you paid on ur submission day.

Are you for real? I filled the form and paid online before 28days but went to tls Lagos after the 28days. Hope am safe ooo

Please house, I applied online on the 10th of August at the rate of 1pound to 419.142 naira and I had enough money then but I just checked now and it's almost 450+ to one pound which exceeds my balance(I calculated with 440). Please will this affect my application in anyway? Cc justwise
My interview was on the 12th of August.

My brother, don't stress yourself. just go and collect your visa when you get your collection mail.

Home office uses the rate of the day you paid online. Based on the bolded, you are good to go.

You can use form A to pay for accommodation provided it is school accommodation. You cannot use Form A to receive maintenance money. You don't want banks to make money from Atm withdrawals outwith naija again?

By the way, you want to use Form A for september resumption? you joking right? It is too risky to try that now. I'll suggest you use another means.

Justwise nd olowob can someone pay for once accomodation from the maintance fee if staying outside london or one must leave the money intact in the acc too?
Re: Uk Student Visa/tier 4 Pbs - Your Questions Answered Part 3 by bal2012002(m): 2:36pm On Aug 22, 2016
Confused here, please help me.

I started my count on the 18th of July, filled my application online and paid the visa fee and IHS on Friday 12th August (25days) and then submitted at the visa application center in Lagos on Wednesday 17th August(30days).

I hope I am fine.

Just to confirm, is the online application date calculated as the submission date or the day the forms are submitted in person and biometrics taken at the VAC?

Regards,

Pls justwise and olowob how true is the bolded statement. @chuksbenin pls did you get the visa using that process?

chuksbenin:
House, I just found out a trick about predicting exchange rate on Oanda. Oanda uses the average or mean fluctuations of the previous day to arrive on their selling rate. In case you have not applied, you can go to Xe or download the app. Whatever is their lowest and highest rate today will be reflected on Oanda tomorrow. That was how I made my prediction before my application. Remember to put ur closing balance in Naira on the left side as the currency you have and check the equivalent on the right as the currency you want. If you do otherwise, you'll get a different value. All the best.

@chuksbenin did u put ur naira on the left and then got the pounds value on the right side? Cos peeps been telln us to put pounds on left and then naira on the equivalent to the right. @elope justwise @olowob
Re: Uk Student Visa/tier 4 Pbs - Your Questions Answered Part 3 by chuksbenin: 3:15pm On Aug 22, 2016
Yes. I am sure of this. Read it carefully, you will see 'the currency I have' and 'the currency I want'. I got the info from a friend who works at the Imperial college. They are allowed to assess students' maintenance fund on behalf of the embassy. So their prospective students don't get to submit their financial proof at the embassy. That's for top schools in the UK though. London schools are also tough on Proof of finance before CAS.

I just pray you don't have issues. Your bank statement should indicate that your maintenance has been in the account for atleast 28days and not 25days. And the visa fee should have been paid after the 28th day. The rate is calculated on the day you pay your visa fee but like I said,I just pray you don't have issues cos ur statement isn't upto 28days.

No matter the side u put it,u will still arrive at the same thing. Its like putting Naira on the left hand side,it will give you the pounds equivalent on the right hand side. On the other hand if u put the same pounds on the left hand side, it will still give you the naira equivalent on the right. So what's the difference.
As for the prediction method, I think u r just doing guess work. No one can ascertain what the rate will be tommorrow or next. So let's not mislead people. No one can ascertain. You were only lucky.

Yes he is right. The school will actually check by putting the naira on the left to determine the amount of pounds on the right i.e they will check what the closing balance of your account is in naira and type it on the left to know the equivalent in pounds.

Although, i have noticed some schools may not know how to do it and you may get away with just multiplying the pounds by the exchange rate of that particular day. If that is what you mean.

In all, if your school gives or has given you CAS, you are good to go. You cannot panic at this crucial period.

Sorry bro but that's so untrue. Try it now. As a matter of fact, am on the site now. Put one pound on the left, Mark the equivalent, then put the Naira equivalent on the right, it will be less than 1 pound. Seems you've not done the experiment before. Lol

@bolded, not the same thing. I think they normally will type the naira you have in your account on the left hand side to determine if it is up to for example £9,135 (Studying outwith London)

Bro what is your problem na? do you want people to spoil your mind? you have submitted already and nothing can be done again.

For your information, do you know i also made a mistake when i did my application years back? I was supposed to use the rate of the day i paid online but i wrote the rate of the day i printed my bank statement boldly on my application form and was still granted my Visa.

Nothing can be done again, sleep, eat and pray and come back here to testify. Don't ask questions again.

Hahahahahaha! Lotto? I just checked now. The rate will come down tomorrow. It's already 431 minimum and 452 maximum. If it remains like this till 22:00 when Oanda closes for the next trading day, it will come down tomorrow. My best pick is do ur applications on Wednesday or Thursday. Just check the rate tomorrow morning and compare with today. I can bet anything that the rate will come down below 450 tomorrow. I'll prove that this is not lotto. It worked for me.

i think a safer way to do it would be to choose the buying GBP option cos what you have when u put naira on the right is for selling GBP but what you wanna do is buy GBP instead so that the conversion rate to use. that was what i did anyway
