Please sirs, Is there any safe way to verify if a registered car for sale is a stolen one or not. I have even heard of stolen cars bought from cotonou which was only discovered when the buyer was trying do autoreg.

I went out today to inspect 2 Hyundai IX35 cars today only to have my time and resources wasted by these scammers.

They'll talk fine on phone. When you get there to inspect 30 mins later, u hear 'car has been sold'.

I should have suspected when i saw the same car been posted on several fora wit very wide discrepancy in price.


Note its not only 1 scammer...the 2nd person i called was also a scammer. Will post details later but be careful to inspect before parting wit any dime

Besides this scamming thing, I think it wont be a bad idea to set some ground rules/standards for car sale adverts on Nairaland. Personally, I find it very annoying that someone would create a thread to sell a car, and he wont put up the vehicle's VIN or even the vehichle's price (even if nah asking price,....just put am!).
Really, how do you make a safe and informed decision about a car you intend to buy without the benefit of first researching the history of the car even before you begin to price?

My only beef with u is, this is the same person banned by u previously. Which banning system are u guys using? Why these sets of people keep creating similar monicker over and over again?
I know someone on this nairaland is more concerned about nairaland traffic than its safety.
By the time no one trust nairaland and we all keep leaving (e.g Siena) , i wonder where the traffic will come from.

If only there was a way we can keep them from posting permanently, I would have implemented it. But these scammers are very relentless, it takes them little efforts to create new email addresses and open new accounts posting scam posts on various sections. Once the spam bots identify their numbers, they start using new ones. Still, we will not be deterred from kicking them out of the forum the moment we get hold of them. While the moderators clean up the scam posts, you the members can do your bit by alerting others as you're doing now. Together, we can make Nairaland scam free.
