For garri production, the three major machines needed are
1. GRATER
2. PRESSER
3. FRYER

GRATERS
The grater are of two different capacities, measured by how many tonnage it could process in an hour.
A 2ton/hour grater may come with a big 8hp diesel Lister engine, 165 diesel engine or an 8hp petrol engine. As a consultant, your intended output will determine which one I would proffer.
1. 2tons/hr STAINLESS STEEL machine with an 8hp Lister engine costs 450,000
2. 2tons/hr STAINLESS STEEL Grating machine with an 8hp Petrol engine costs 320,000
3. 1ton/hr STAINLESS STEEL Grating machine with a 5hp petrol engine costs 260,000
4. 2tons/hr NON-STAINLESS STEEL Grating machine with a 8hp petrol engine costs 230,000

PRESSERS
Pressers are majorly of one type. Capable of pressing four bags at a time and you can press and fry within few hours, other than the 48hrs the old ones will give you.
THOUGH, ONE OF MY FABRICATORS CAN DO A SMALLER ONE FOR LESS.
1. Pressers with ability to press more than 10bags at a time and capable of pressing and frying in the same day with a 30 ton hydraulic jack. Cost is 110,000.
2. Pressers with ability to press 5bags at a time and capable of pressing and frying in the same day with a 20 ton hydraulic jack. Cost is 60,000.

FRYERS
Fryers are of two major types. Manual and mechanical.
The manual fryers are a remake of the old ones, but more modern, convenient and effective. With it being stainless steel, it has many edge against the old conventional ones. It gets heated quickly, uses less fuel and fry more garri than the old ones.

MANUAL FRYERS
The manual are of two sizes.
1. Big size. 4 X 8 feet. STAINLESS STEEL. Capable of frying 25kg in 30 minutes. Price is 110,000
2. Small size.4 X 4 feet. STAINLESS STEEL. Capable of frying 10kg in 30 minutes. Price is 65,000
3. Old ones, but more bigger and NON-STAINLESS. 10kg in 50 minutes. Price is 10,000.

MECHANICAL FRYERS
Also of different sizes. ALL STAINLESS STEEL. The decision to use either firewood or gas depends on you and other factors. Call me for free advice.
1. Big size, 50kg in 35 minutes. Price is 450,000
2. Small size, 25kg in 35 minutes. Price is 350,000

SIFTERS
Sifters are used to either sift the cassava cakes before frying or after. The decision to sift before or after frying depends on one major factor- THE TYPE OF GARRI YOU INTENDED TO PRODUCE. for small scalers, I have always maintained that you do not need it. A peeler is 450,000. Ability to peel a whole pick up truck in 1.5hours is guaranteed.

1. Machines are stainless steel, which implies that you import the steel.

2. Check the Lister engine below dis u knw the price? Even the Lister engine is close to 280k.

If you prefer Lister, price is 450k, if u prefer a 165 diesel engine, price is 260k. Even the 165 diesel engine costs more than 80k.

But u are also wrong. Prices have risen significantly this year

Guys chill!! Stainless doesnt come cheap ooo. A sheet of 2mm s/s plate currently sells for btw 90k to 120k not talk of other materials needed, while the same plate thickness on mysteel(galvanised) is 20k.

Bros this guy is just a consultant according to him, he is not a practicing garri producer and I know the that the prices of things have gone up recently but let's think of it, all the garri in the market all-over Nigeria do you think that their buyers do ask if they were made with stainless materials or who cares if they were made with first class lister engine? All am saying is that setting up a garri factory doesn't need a state of the art machineries, what you need is to get you factory premises clean and start production, what makes you think that even if you use 3 million naira to set up a garri factory that it will make your garri better off compared to the locally produced ones or make you sell more. You don't need nafdac registration number for garri and your best market is not the super markets but local buyers that buys in 50kg bags and supply to major markets, so I will advice everyone interested in this factory to forget about this garriguy idea because I know you don't need a consultant who wants you to use millions of Naira to setup a garri factory, producing garri is one of the cheapest things to start up in Nigeria for now, you just need to grow your farm and it's done, forget about him saying you buy cassava to produce garri, whoever tries that has him or herself to blame because you will heavily run at a loss, i know this because I am a practicing garri producer and not one white collar garri factory consultant, whoever wants to use millions of Naira for a garri factory is free to do just that, but believe me it will be a foolish investment
