Chrissybaybee:it is not important as many who don't even have such identity docs have gotten TRV without it.But since you have such,it can come to play to balance the fairness and transparency of ur application |

guzan: PGD applications often works in strange ways, you seem to have more chances with you PGD application without experience in your field than when you have experience in your field. so I say you have good chances. The PGD will be a progression to enhance your prospect of getting job in your field but why not a master degree that will make your chance better. your experience in finance is not a problem it only show you want to get back to your previous degree area of study 1 Like |

guzan:This may be tough! You will have to justify exactly why you spent a whole seven years in finance yet you now want to go back to the construction industry. You can convince the VO though, but your SOP needs to be extremely convincing. If I were the VO, I might be a bit skeptical sha, however I can be convinced with the right reasons & arguments. guzan:Here's the test: can you convince yourself that the claim to sponsorship is credible? Be objective. If a reasonable and rational person can be convinced about the sponsorship claim, then go ahead. Just keep in mind that for this claim to sponsorship to be credible, the pastor better be able to convincingly explain why s/he is spending over C$20,000 per year sponsoring a non-relative. If I were the VO, it would be difficult to convince me though not impossible. One thing that might help is if s/he is willing to pay a year of your program's tuition beforehand as a demonstration of his/her intent to sponsor you. 2 Likes |

guzan: Let me be blunt with you and i hope you don't take it the wrong way. You are a potential immigrant, rather than dashing Canadian embassy that money ask your pastor to pray for you so that God in heaven will open your eyes and other legitimate doors to Canada. Bros in the last ten years you have managed to achieved first degree and 7 years of work experience in financial industry and now you want to go into construction industry. There is no correlation between your first degree, work experiences AND the course you tend to study Now you want to convince anybody that you want to throw away everything you have achieved in the last 10 years to start afresh again? At what age? Lastly why would your pastor invest millions in you alone and not any other church members? 8 Likes |

Tarry:if i should rephrase the bolded above,i would say one seems to have more chances if your field is a facet of other discipline.so if i have work experience in my academic field and going for a program which is a distinct discipline within my academic field, one is likely to have more chances though you have to demonstrate your motivation and passion. 1 Like |

Questions guys.. Kindly assist. I am yet to be contacted for medicals, by the look of things I will have to defer my admission to September 2017 if everything falls in place. If the study permit is issued now, will it still be valid for the programme next year? I will be traveling to the US in a fortnight, if I get a medical mail while I'm away in the US, how do I go about the medicals? Can I do it in the US? Thanks |

I was delayed. I received an email last weekend. To God be all the glory!!!( Purpose of study and Current employment situation) Please friends, I have learnt a lot from you helping others. I hope I can get some support from the house. I have decided to change my study program to an MBA and re-apply for the Winter Semester. My question is how do I re-present and re-process my application with my current situation as I really do intend to study. I have 8 years work experience as a brand specialist and now convinced that the PGD was not the better choice of study. I have identified schools that can accept 2.2 and I am ready to do this!! Kindly help me with the convincing info/guide to prove my intention to the VO. I would appreciate objective thoughts so that others in this similar situation can find a way around theirs...... My very distinguished elders (you know yourselves .) I look forward to putting to very good use your advise. Congrats Arcayo! 1 Like |

Sallysweet: When you have many years work experience and you are going for a PGD/c in the same field as your years of experience, the VO finds it difficult to see how that will enhance your career. The basic thing is to go for a course that will improve your career prospect |
Re: Travelling To Canada Part 11 by Tarry(m): 12:03am On Aug 31, 2016 |
michV: Yes you are right but if its PGC/d the vo might not see how that will improve you career when you already have many years of experience in that field but a master degree is always valuable no matter how many years of experience you have in that field |

Basalt:Good Evening, sorry for the delay in replying, I was busy with work. Now from what you have sent, it is self explanatory, very clear and concise... University of Western Ontario has told that you could still be admitted with the CGPA, but it depends on some factors like Letter of intent also known as Statement of purpose, which I mentioned earlier, number of applications nd getting a supervisor.... Now this is why I was asking you what type of Masters degree you were applying for. Because getting a Supervisor that is willing to handle your research/Thesis will go a very long way in determining your admission... Now my advise, firstly from the Department page, find their research publications or journals, then check the ones that are related to your proposed field or specialization, then try and get in contact with the Authors of this Journals (by clicking on their profile and sending them mail, there are guidelines for this) please note most research nd publications are done by both students and professors/lecturers, try and find out the one that's a professor, I believe this won't be a problem for you. I know people with lower CGPA that were admitted for Masters degree program at the University of Alberta, Queens University and University of Ontario Institute of Technology, bros your CGPA is okay..... As I said before. All you need now is to write a very good letter of intent/statement of purpose, give them official email address of your references - mostly from academic background: your HOD, your project supervisor, your Course adviser should be among your reference, but if you believe the wouldn't write very well about you, you can find other lecturers in your department you believe will give you a powerful reference, your last employer can also give u a reference, even the place you may have served in via NYSC (ppa) ... Don't be scared about your CGPA.. Find a supervisor, as I told you Write a very powerful letter of intent/statement of purpose Arrange your updated Curriculum Vitae/Resume very well Please don't lie or say things which you can't defend... But most Course based Masters program don't require you to find a Supervisor, so I don't knw what University of Western Ontario is talking about, anyways the will know better Where you will need a supervisor is UofM for Thesis based Masters, getting a supervisor is not hard, just package yourself very well, if you're a Religious person, you can also pray to your God.. Sometimes in UofM, you may not even find a supervisor, all you need to do is to register, because during registration, you may be asked to provide a Thesis title and how you intend going about it, this will be reviewed and a professor or Dr maybe allocated to you if the have any that is interested in your Research, anyway send the department a mail about this for more information .... University of Manitoba has a relatively cheap tuition $14,000 - $20,000, compared to other Universities. And now the advantages of doing a Thesis based Masters is very good, you could easily get sponsorship, funds, awards to do a PhD program... You could also get very personal with your supervisor, which will be very beneficial for you Disadvantages of thesis based, it's time consuming, you have to be very smart, hardworking, independent, focused and knowledgeable, if not you may not finish on time or may not meet the requirements for conferment of the Masters degree ... University of Western Ontario is in Ontario province, the 2nd biggest province in Canada and the most populous province, it's full of job opportunities, and lots of Africans are there. Advantages of Course based Masters, it is a bit less stressful, just like how you learnt in Nigerian University, come to class, learn with colleagues, receive lectures, some maybe online, write test occasionally, exams, internship, do a dissertation at the end. Simple Disadvantages, difficulty in getting funding or external support, more stressful in getting a PhD admission Most applications deadlines for winter/spring 2017(have passed) and fall 2017 are fast approaching.. Manitoba is on 30th of November for fall 2017 admission, so you have to act fast.... Start your registration immediately, go nd apply for Transcript, get a student's copy that you will use to upload in their page... You will be required to provide an original transcript directly from your University, but that is after the have given you a provisional admission... Don't use any agent, you can do it on your own.... Any other questions or clarification, you ask anyone here... Many people have much more informations than me.... So feel free to consult them... We wish you well and we are here for you. 7 Likes 3 Shares |

UNIXLover:Yes of course... Grad certificate programs in Canada are mostly for 8 months nd that qualifies for Student permit , the VO/CIC should be able to grant you at least 12months visa duration which can also be extended from inside Canada.. Firstly mail the Grad cert program in Canada, about your intentions to deffer your admission and give them good reasons for this and hear their response... |

michV: Wow! I'm indeed astounded, you recall my comment and when I made it. Now I believe as you stated that you sift through every comment... This attribute is indeed graceful! I eventually noticed that the update had to do with my biometric.. Noticed it was updated that day after lose to 3 months. I haven't given up hope, just trying to forge ahead with other things. This whole process has a way of freezing ones attention . Thanks a lot bro. 2 Likes |
