In the spiriit of giving back:flew qatar @ 35weeks with my DH on wenesday,was sent to port health for fit to fly,told the nurses I was 34wks but they refused to give me,said they don't give 34wks that it's 30wks they give that is govt policy after much they told DH he should write an undertaking in case of any eventuality which he did before they finally gave us but wrote 33wks. Got PTA from stanbic @350 and travelex @356. It was God all d way. Got to doha n was sent to meet a US rep:he asked wat we were going to d US for ,told him for childbirth/vacation,asked if we metioned dat during our interview we said no,but we later notified d embassy for change of plans,he asked to see it wich we showed him,he asked for doctors correspondence we gave him(am using Dr Dama/methodist Sugarland )he asked y going to d US to have d baby n y not in naija,we said for better health care cos mother /child mortality rate is high that's why we choose d US,he said they are going to review oakbend medical group cos most people tend to use them,after which he gave us our passport,waited for 2hrs before we left for New York,d flight was a long one we were 2pregie on d flight the other woman develop some complication and doctor/nurse we needed to attend to her,dnt knw wat happen wen we got to New York. We used the self automated machine,our slip was marked x,it was a long queue before it got to our turn,a female CBP officer attended to us,asked how long we are saying DH told here he would be staying for 10days while I would stay for 8wks,she asked y I would be staying that long,told her we are here for vacation and childbirth,she asked me to scan my finger n snap me,hubby did d same n our passport was stamped,checked the stamp and it was just B2 that was on the stamp,went back to meet her but she told us that it covers for the six month,that there is no problem.we were sent to agric cos I carried fish and some spices,our bags was rescaned nothing was seize,collected our luggage and went to chat up our flight with jetblue to houston.it was God all d way chilling at d hotel but would be using precious cedar,my appointment is next week. Got the bill paid eventually and i told them to take my name off debt recovery. The lady also confirmed that the bill was sent much later.

This is telling those who are renting accommodation in US especially Oakbend people to leave a forwarding address at the local post office before leaving rented apartments. Some medical billing system na alakoba.

like I said last year... These people are the most disorganized people when it comes to billing. They take almost two weeks or more before they send ur bill and then still send an outstanding? It's crazy...

Thank God Almighty, the one that loaded me with this great benefits which causes me to rejoice continually and l shall not be overwhelmed.
l and this baby shall live to declare the works of the Lord in the land of the living.
Dear Lord cause this seed to be light for me to carry.
Do not allow the devil to multiply/add evil to this seed. Let my ways and attitude not truncate /jeopardise this seed.
Lord,let me not cast my seed before my time.
All the positive effort of men/medical practitioners concerning my seed and l shall not be in vain.
My baby shall grow perfectly well. The placenta shall sufficiently sustain my baby.
My baby shall be in the right position at the right time of delivery time.
l shall have a supernatural childbirth My delivery of this baby shall be free of pain and complications.
My cervix and vagina will widen up enough to allow my baby to pass through smoothly.
My shall dilate fully,that I will have no tear.
My labour shall be short and quick I will bring forth with speed.
I shall not cast my seed before my time nor have troubles in this pregnancy .

I got into Houston this week. My initial plan was to enter in September, I had already bought ticket sef but we discovered that my child had a tumor... See eh, when something strong happens, you just have to drop everything in God's able hands and start working in harmony with your faith. So I changed my tickets, DH got emergency tickets, we gathered ourselves to Houston. We flew Emirates.

I asked for wheelchair assistance and trust me, that made A HUGE difference especially since my son decided to remain hyperactive and fear did not let me sedate him because of the tumor. Flight was ok but I was tired, my feet was swollen, even with compression socks o. Anyway thats how we landed in Houston. Me, DH and my son (He's a citizen) were rolled to the POE

CBP: Good afternoon Can I have your passports and landing card
DH: Good afternoon (hands them over)
CBP: What are you here for?



DH: My son has a mass on his neck and needs to see a doctor
I quickly remind him about me
DH: And my wife is hereto deliver our baby.
CBP: Ok,put your fingers here...
we do
CBP: looks at our landing card. Do you have snails?
DH: yes we do
CBP: Ok you didnt tick here (shows DH where to tick, he does)
CBP: You'll have to pass through agriculture on your way out, youre free to go.

I was still waiting for secondary inspection when they wheeled me to baggage collection, I kuku released the lady and helped DH carryour bags to agriculture. They passed our bags thru the x-ray machine and told us to go, nothing was searched or seized.
Now were seeing different specialists for my son and Im waiting for my scheduled appointment.

Its well with your son, everything will sure be fine by the grace of God.

@shagaman please you better confirm from the lady becos i got a bill of almost $100 for pathology which i had paid for b4 leaving the state.

Shagaman i dont think there is any cause for alarm. The lady i called explained that the bill is about some additional bloodwork done for my wife. If in doubt just call them after a while to double check their records. Phema is doing great, we spoke recently. Hows your family,hope you never hang boot?

Yes dis happened to me too. And twas same brown and associates. Called and they agreed it was a duplicated bill. I made sure they sent an email and stated clearly the my bill was duplicated. Cos I had zero balance from them and still got the bill and 'threat of sending to collections' in the mail.
So I second @tvegas's idea of getting a permanent/fowarding address.

Thank God for joyous news. I also witnessed a drama about billings as well. While shopping for hospital to use. I went to see a gynaecologist who said I should redo some of the tests l brought from Naija. I did those tests with my $260 and after he got the results, he called that he will take me as his patient and gave me his outrageous bill.
I called the following day to tell him I wont be coming. 3months after I have left, he sent bill to my house telling me to pay about $500. My sis called to inform me and I ignored, only to receive mails from debt recovery. I told my sister to call and after serious fight, she requested for the breakdown. The bill included the day I arrived Houston that I called him. To cut the long story, my sister (shes my split image so they thought I was the one)went to the hospital to see the finance lady who was only shouting you MUST PAY. They included urine test 3ice and I did not do one. After she sat d finance officer down by showing her the day I was stamped in into US and others. They reduced my bill to 147$ which I paid and also got a clearance letter from them.

Those people....na real deliver us from all evil. Amen

Hello davsquared, I was told the refund was because I gave birth so fast, no ivfs no stress. No blood work. My gyn came in immediately baby was out. The nurses took the delivery.

I pray yours will be faster than this in Jesus name.
Intact I remember asking my sister how it went on that day. And her response was that she was shocked. That intact I acted like Jackie shan.
My sis, its only God that can do this!

Similar thing happened when I had my baby in Whmc, there was no time to run any test when I got to the hospital, I just came in and was rushed to start the pushing tin and in about 30mins after I entered the hospital, my baby was out. Infact the nurses took the delivery cos immediately the doctor on duty stepped out of the delivery room, my baby flew out just as my own doctor was entering the room. Much later when I got back to Naija after I ve exhausted the money in my $ card, I saw abt $1k in my card, checked my statement and saw it was from doctor's office.
I just hope say no be mistake o cos I didn't even bother calling them to ask.

An FD is easily liquidated so in my opinion, yes its ok. If the money is ok to fund the trip u can carry it alone but if have more to show , e better na

In obodo Oyinbo they have tests according to d gestational age.

And some of these tests cannot even be done here in naija.
There's urinalysis test strip, dey dip in urine usually just Sorts alot. And every clinic visit they do urinalysis at least for Dr E. Which is part of ur bill tho.
Ogtt is extreme Abeg lol. Glucose in urine which wld be seen in urinalysis. Or fbs ( which can be done first thing in morning.

My point is there are basic tests for pregnant women.
Which is hepatitis HIV syphilis (stds generally) genotype, blood group, PCV. Nd may be TORCHES
These are basic tests. ( I hope I'm not missing anyone out)

Importantly I doubt a teaching Hospital will wanna carry out that list of tests. What's the indication for the tests?
And if u say d Hospital requested, I'm sure they'll wanna see a letter.

When I travelled I did just the above and didn't do any extra test except Dr's E compulsory tests she does at 36 weeks.


BUT like nairaland culture alot is better than less.
