My school is on break now and I had been thinking of what to do when an elderly man in my church who is a deacon approached me and suggested that since times are hard(for both him and myself), I should go around and convince private schools directors to conduct seminers for their school teachers for a fee. And by the grace of God, iam the kind of person who can easily convince people to buy my sh1t for a good sum.
The next day, I packaged myself and hit the road, and within 3days, I was able to get some schools to conduct training for their teachers for the sum of #30,000 each. So far, we have conducted for 2 schools and was paid #30,000 per school, and my partner gave me #10,000 as my share on each occassion!
We still have some schools lined up for the training but I feel #10,000 is not just fair to me even though it is my partner who does the lecturing for 2hrs 30mins. I spoke to some friends and relatives about it and most of them think #10,000 is fair enough but I don't think so. Even my mum thinks I should not negotiate for increment since the man is a deacon in our church and he is the one who delivers the lecture, forgeting that Iam the one who goes out there to overhype, exaggerate and even 'force' these private school directors to need our services.
Pls guys, what do you think? I need enough money before school resumes o! Is #10,000 out of #30,000 fair for me or am I being greedy??

My advice to you is for you to stop being greedy. For crying out loud, the man is giving you a sum of #10,000 out of #30,000, you should be thankful. An elderly stands before a group of people and gives them lecture for 2 hours 30 mins sweating and still decides to part with that kind of money is a nice man. After all the only thing you do is convince the schools to register and that's all. Be grateful and don't let greed lead you to destruction, remember the love for money is the root of all evil. In as much as both of you did not discuss terms of the partnership, the man is very fair with you. You get 10k out of 30k per school.
You spent transport and to do the marketing.
He made research to give up to date information during the lectures. Takes questions and offer solution.
Step up your game and get more clients so you make more money.
For now I advise you don't ask for more. Maybe in next phase you discuss logistics. But I assure you he can get somebody to work with.

My brother, the truth of the matter is that this man is fair enough. Imagine paying you 33%. OK, how much do you want? Because any shift will make it either 40/60 or 50/50. For crying out loud, you should concentrate and learn from him while you manage your 33% and graduate. This man has kids to Carter for, house rent to pay, car to maintain. Am I the only one that thinks this isn't a fair deal? I think the sharing should be on the net profit. Yes, 33% is a fair ratio, but 33% on what? Gross profit or net profit?

Before you got those 2 schools that gave him 30k each, let's say you spent 500 naira on transport+calls+sms each time you went to a school. Then say you went to 15 schools, and out of those 15 schools you went to, only 2 paid for the training. So before even getting any client, you've spent over 7k looking for schools for him, out of your own pocket o. By the time he pays you 10k for 2 schools and you remove your expenses, you only get 13k. What does the deacon get? A whole 40k. After all your waka about?

I would suggest you give him a breakdown on all the things you spend money on looking for schools for him. Tell him that going forward, he will first refund all the expenses you incur. Then after that, you 2 will decide on a sharing ratio for the money that's left.

If he think it's easy to do PR work and convince humans being, as difficult as they can be, let him go to the streets and look for the school by himself!!! I no dey like slave work abeg.

i dont really understand how greed has taken over us soon. u doing business with an older man, he probably is married, u are a student, and you think 10k is not enough from 30k, u want equal share or even earn more than the man. have you thought of it this way, ask yourself these questions, wat if i am the one doing the lecturing, will i share the money equal? if u think u doing the better part of the job, why not try and convince one school, do the seminar alone without the mans knowledge.

instead of you to think of how to increase sales by convincing more schools. afterall it was the mans idea in the first place for u guys to start the seminar or do u really think the man cannot go to convince schools himself? i just dont know what to tell u. no offence oh!!!

Just in case of next time, just make sure you make an initial WRITTEN and SIGNED agreements for the sharing formular or percentage for the proceeds/profit from a business with ur partner/s even if it's a business with ur dad or siblings. Factors to consider for renegotiating or accepting ur current share are:

==ur transportation expenditure and time of getting from ur home to a school that u wish to negotiate with

In ideal circumstances, I'd say you're getting a good share of profit for now at N10000 for a N30000 earning

Bro... to be blunt... you are greedy. It is the guy's idea.... he is the performer... the show can go without you....but not without him. I think the guy is very generous to give you 33%. You need more money...get more clients...maybe at a higher fee. What happens if he decides to find more agents? Don't be greedy.

1. You don't pay space/home/shelter for the teaching incase it's not in the school the lectures is being held.

2. You have all the time to yourself. You can still attend lectures, read etc. Just bring the client and you pocket 33%. no emotional / mental attachment with the client or the Man(teacher).

3. He teaches 2hr 30mins. Just to teach for 45mins Corp members find it difficult. let alone University Lecturers that is being paid find it hard to impact knowledge.

4. You are building a skill indirectly, so sharpen it now.

We use the school hall to conduct the training! We have even conducted the training for 6 schools now and he has been giving me #10,000
