This is one problem Buhari didn't create. I don't expect him to resolve it anyway as he has added his own problem - RECESSION! undecided

Where are the idiats that kept saying Fashola had added some Phantom Megawatts to the grid ..he has been exposed ..Fashola attempt to use propaganda to generate fictitious mega watts might be the undoing of that sector ..this interview proves once again Fashola is not a serious somebody. .instead of him to work on Improving power he chose last week to launch a media campaign on land air and sea about how he had solved Nigeria's power problem

HtwoOw:
Things wouldn't be this bad if the people who left power made any attempt to increase power generation

Instead they sold to Family and friends under privatization, What scares me is the brazen act of fraud , If NEPA was privatized / Sold , Why is FG having to pay them ?? Scam 1

Same thing Applies to our refineries, Instead of increasing production capability , repairing or even building new refineries, El Fortunado and PDP Inc increased less than 40 Importers of Crude to 120 Importers which comprised mainly of family and friends and partners

Some people now have the audacity to blame other people , abi ? Even Professor Peller had his limits

Continue dey blame past administration. 2 years don go, another 2years go soon go sharply. Oyibo wey say put ur past behind you no foolish.

Question 1: they are owed over 85Bn by the Fed gov for the past 6 months. Why ?

Question 2: the federal government claimed they pumped in some funds to improve power; federal govrrnnent intervention funds, oyibo man said and i quote " we dont have any money". Which cartel shared the money? Im sure zombies lauded them and pissed over themselves when they read of the phantom and media propaganda of fed government interventiob funds which obviously only exists on the media

After reading this interview, I can only conclude that the power privatisation undertaken during GEJ's regime was faulty. Something doesn't just feel right, I can perceive that! Why should the FG pay companies for privatisation? Are these new owners of PHCN companies competent at all?

Actually Egbin is the largest gas fired plant in the country by a wide margin followed by the one at Ughelli or Sapele

They have stolen everything that belong to us, now we are suffering because we are what they call us, the said the poor are useless, that we are born to bring comfort into their life. And that's true, we elected them to their offices and made them what they are today, and what do they give to us in return? They do not care about us, they want us to die of hunger, they do not want our children to go to school, they made our parents their gate men. They took everything that belong to us with them, they loot and build mansions in Dubai, sends their children to study in England. what can we do about it, they call us terrorist anytime we become fed-up with their systems and sends our brothers that are in the military to shoot at us. They do not want us to live together, they make us fight ourselves. They want a Hausa man to fight an Igbo man and Igbo man to fight a Yaruba man. They are scared when we stay together we might become stronger and can defeat them and make them suffer for what they have done to us.. They have took everything that belongs to us, they are not our friends, they want us to suffer and die of sufferings

Dumbo sold power companies to cash and carry traders who don't know what they are doing. Presidential stupidity.
All Utility companies in the world are LOW MARGIN, LONG BREAK EVEN assets. You don't import petrol and sell that and carRyan that stupid mentality into Utility business

Selling the GENCOs at that time was the best thing to have happened but i dont quite agree with the way it was handled. Any ways, as pointed out by the MD Egbin Power plant, the government has to sell of TCN so that investment can be made on improving the transmission component of our power infrastructure.

Government has to take its hands off all these and allow the much needed growth in the power sector.

Its just so disheartening the FG is treating Nigerians. Just plain stupidity in this time and age. Until we have an enlightened and literate population, these guys will continue their unbridled deceit.

So many of the owners came and they were thinking that they were going to be reaping some sort of returns after the first three years

This is the bane of the problem with the power sector. Most thought that could just come in and reap profits almost immediately. They used the example of telecoms sector to show why (SincereNigerian)

This is not a PDP or APC issue and the longer we play politics with it the longer we stay in darkness.
Issues with the power sector

1) The private investors: Many of them came in unprepared. Power is capital intensive with a low profit margin. To invest in power, you should budget at least 10 years before you start reaping.
2) Transmission: This is the only part of power sector that government controls (for a reason) and it is the weakest sector by design. We run a centralised distribution network (same structure as the country) and that needs to be broken. It should be decentralised along regions and either given to the states or sold to private investors. Again , this is capital intensive.
3) Pricing: power is actually cheap and consumers don't want to pay more (there's a chicken and egg scenario here and it's what I believe Fashola should solve)
4) Vandalism: we all know this one.

PS: there's really little Fashola or anybody can do right now as regards power generation and the power ministry is one ministry that should scrapped.

Before anybody says Barth Nnaji, remember at his time the government was in charge of generation.

Actually what the man said was
They didn’t give it to us; what they paid to some of the generation companies was what they owed them. It wasn’t guarantees; it wasn’t financing; it wasn’t loans. It was simply the obligations that they owed us; but then, we haven’t got any money. We are still waiting for it.

Which means some companies got the money and they see it as their entitlement. Not everything should be view with a political lens.

the power business has a long turnover/profitability period:up to 25 years, thats why govs and very big corps invest in it. I dont know who promised them quick profits, so they should park well. they knew what they were going into. that was why some of us objected to the privatization in the first place. if govt had given NEPA this amount of infrastructure, wont power have improved no matter who was in charge.
