My roomate at school then was my childhood friend. We grew up in the same neighbourhood and were only separated when we went to different secondary schools. We finished our secondary school same year and both of us seeked admission into the same university.
The year l got admitted he wasn't so lucky but decided to run one of the pre-degree programs being offered by the school.
So at this period,my friend and l were students of the school.

When l got home that day,l met him in the house.
He didn't follow me there because he wasn't home when l left.

The moment he saw me he went berserk.
''Guy wetin happen? Who wound you like this?'',he asked me with such fury in his eyes.
''Oboy,those guys go set me up for their way'',l replied him.

He inspected my body,obviously thinking the blood stain on my shirt emanated from injuries on my body.
I made him understand it was just a head cut. That one of them had used a bottle on me.
He flared up and insisted that we went back there.
Bad idea,l told him. Two of us against them in their zone wasn't a fair fight.

Our best move was to sit back and plot a payback.
He wasn't convinced and the only reason he didn't go after the guys was because he didn't know the address.
He was agitated all through the rest of the day.

''Don't worry bro. The opportunity go come'',l said trying to assuage him.
''And if the opportunity no come nko? Those idiots go go like that.'',he said.
''We go create am if e no come. But right now,just get razor kon scrape my head for me. I want make breeze dey touch my skull'',l said to him.

I stayed away from school after that event. Partly because l wasn't prepared to walk around school with a broken head,and mainly because l didn't want Nonye to see me that way.

She doesn't know my place.
She had always procrastinated when l asked her to come know my place and l never thought a day would come when l'd be glad she didn't.
That's because the threat of her surprising me with a visit wasn't there.

I only sent my friend to her with the message that l've travelled. That it was urgent and l couldn't come to see her first. And l lost my phone,so l couldn't call either.
I knew she wouldn't buy it,but l didn't know what else to tell her.

After the message,I didn't attempt to initiate any form of communication with her. I could have reached her with my friend's phone,but l didn't.

I knew if l contacted her she would some how convince me to forgo my quest for revenge and go the Pwajok's way. I was certain the Man o' War couldn't give me the justice l craved for.
I wanted to do this myself. Talking to Nonye would be bane to that idea.

So instead of Nonye,l called Maria - the ally.
