Who are the new peeps on here who don't know RSA is multiracial and in need of lecturing? Or are you referring to the Chinese dude or Indian dude?

Like i said previously, no one is wondering, apart from you, that is. No point exposing your butt-hurt on an African forum. We are all aware the military, like the society is mixed.

"Viewing this topic" changes regularly from regular names to new names. You know that for a fact. Anyone seeing such pics for the for time could naturally wonder why RSA being multiracial only seems to have white pilots. If "we" are all well aware, why was there a full blown debate a while back about the lack of black pilots in the SAAF or have you forgotten? In the days of Agaugust. If someone can ponder that then, why cant they now? We are all aware what a Gripen looks like, so why do you keep posting it's pics? Answer, to keep the thread going and inform any newcomers.

Go sulk elsewhere, whatever happened to you today is for you to deal with and you alone. My post was innocent. Deal with it.

There's definitely 5 or more black Gripen pilots from what i saw at AAD, however some may be reserves

The SAAF visits us from time to time to give feedback on certain weapons systems, so i have an idea of how many Gripen pilots there are (both black and white). SANDF still has a culture (i think its a good thing) of adding a bit of misinformation when civilians ask certain questions at public events. True with a sprinkle of false.

"Stop making a mountain out of a mole hill".

In the SAAF pilot photos, there were 3 photos with black pilots in them. The guy you Saffers call "Midnite" and two other photos.

There was a debate about racial makeup in the other thread not this one, this was because it was conflict perpetrated by Nigerians and South-Africans that kept that one going, not photos, unlike this one.

Cheer up dude. I meant no offence, since you've taken one.

First two now have progressed to Gripen pilots, of which I'm told there are 10

Not quite. 16 of which at any given time 7 are full time at 2 Squadron; 2 at TFDC; 4 as instructors for the Hawk conversion course at 85 Combat Flying School; 2 conducting MOAT either at the Airspace C&C School at Hoedspruit or running air ops in Goma for the FIB.

PIC: Lt. Col Van Eck, one of the most experienced pilots flying Gripen globally - moved from Cheetah to Gripen and once converted, taught the Swedes air-to-air refuelling cool! Rumour has it his retirement is sorted with a guaranteed seat as a test pilot at SAAB for the Gripen NG.

Yes that is definitely a good thing they would't address any questions related to capability from what i picked up. In any case as a black South African i was really moved when i saw an older black man have a conversation with one of the pilots in Venda! Who would've thought, racially and culturally they have a very solid mix from what i saw over at 2 squadron.

I see so there's pilots in Goma? Wow. Yes Saturday was my first time seeing the Gripen live and Lt col van Eck was one of the pilots. The 2 vs 1 was epic! Just wish it was once a year instead of every 2, was just so amazing seeing all the maneuvers. Everyone was really left in awe of the capabilities of particularly the Gripen and Rooivalk

And there I go blabbing. No reprimands though as the info was publicly disclosed at the Seriti "Arms Deal" inquiry.

Flying a desk in charge of MOAT and sometimes in a command Link-ZA enabled Oryx for airborne C&C with the following musterings under command:
-Forward Air Controller
-Air Space Control Operator
-Air Traffic Controller
-Air Traffic Service Assistant
-Mission Controller
-Radar Operator
-Telecommunications

In similar USA configuration on a BlackHawk, that's 8-12 people, but we make do with 4.

That information is not correct. I'll have to wait for confirmation from our side. As far as i know AESTL and a Nigerian company(BCgneeds) based in the US have been responsible for maintenance of all C-130s and G-222s in NAF service.

Nigerian Air Force maintenance facility in at the Air Mobility Command in Lagos carrying out a complete overhaul of NAF C-130 and G-222, both are visible in the hangar. The jobs are carried out by AESTL and BCGneeds.

C-130 913 delivered after over-haul, and 917 in the hangar. There's no evidence available to support your Denel claim. Until one is provided, it is not permissible.

Jakeporeshenko, do you notice that the C-130s in the background are wearing a new grey camouflage. Can you confirm this?

Dude, give it up already. Flogging inferior Chinese crap at this South African is bad enough. Proposing low-riding APCs so troops can ride on top (surfing IFVs -thanks Patches wink; not sure what is worse: this or train-surfing) deserves nomination for the most pea-brained idea in 2016 for this thread shocked!

P.S. You even got me on the same side as africaken254 tongue

I am flogging what crap?nothing is undefeatable. No weapon can withstand everything.yet even a pick-up truck or motorbike has its usage..maybe yes it's vunlunable against many weapons..it depends on how to use and at which situation.

South African has self suffient defense industry and western partner .No need much outsude purchasing, though some subsystem rely on the west.

"IFV sufing" or not is an personal option, but a lower height could not be wrong in some paticular situation .

Are you a arms seller who think Russian ,Chinese ,Japaneae or Indian are competitor?jealous ?But you can not change the fact that T72 or BTR or "Chinese crap" is dumping, even toyota pick-up is eveywhere, buyers market.

5 units of CH-3. Drones don't do CAS in the proper sense of CAS, so they don't do CAS for troops. They are used in the ISTAR role.

The Army does deploy smaller tactical mini drones, also in ISTAR role but a squad level.

Funny thread. South African Chinese...

Truth be told, unless inferior has another meaning I don't know, how are Chinese defence products inferior to SA? Are you trying to say the Chinese produce less quality or export less quality defence hardwares ?
If you mean export, then no big deal but when it comes to homeland use/production, calling the Chinese products inferior is out of it.

China as a habit of making sub standard knock offs. I spoke a officer from the Namibian Navy and he really did not like there M16 knock off from china. All so china as tried many times to steal our tech so many south Africans don't like them. I think they still on Dennels black list

henry i mentioned this back in July, i am not sure what plans NAF has for the C-130's that have been kept in storage in lagos but i know they all got a new paint job. they are no longer having their traditional camo scheme.
i'll try to find out whats going on.

1. South African A-Darter missile
2. Intial design of Chinese PL-10 missile

They initially thought they could steal a lot more info on A-Darter. So initially just went ahead with our design. And when the initial stolen info dried up, they were forced to use their own intellect and change their design.

P.S this is an unofficial story and may or may not be completely made up :-)

Yes,some "sub-standard" knock-offs,is not as good as the original, but with cheaper price. China made knock-offs weapons because of being embargo by US and EU for decades.

China has little to no arms deal with SA. The only deal I know is CS/VP3 is bought TOT from SA.
So you mean steal what technology?

South Africa follow the USA and EU 's embargo agaist China. No supprise on the black list.
