The policies of this government are haphazard.

Tomorrow, when they see revenue shortfall, lie muhammed will appear on TV and say it was never banned..

Thank God for this ban. I almost went into this business until I asked myself why we were deforesting. What happened to our coal deposits?

This should be a temporary ban, while government overhauls the process of enforcement of the reforestation policies. It's government responsibility to enforce the policy, any dullard knows that, left to their own devices the loggers and exporters will never comply.

And these things are easier to do in a holistic way. Our civil servants accept bribes from the Asians and they allow them to devastate the environment, they devastate the economy, they abuse Nigerian workers and treat them like slaves in their own country while the government does NOTHING.

Nigeria needs to kick out most of these Asians before we can get on the path to true economic recovery because virtually all their activities are injurious to our economic wellbeing, both in the long and short term. Those guys are mostly economic criminals.

As an environmentalist, I have to say thank you to the people who made good comment on this post . if you really know what environment is all about. you will get to understand the implication of deforestation without afforestation.

ZACHIE:
It may not stop defrostation but it will slow down the rate of deforestation. Demand for Wood export grounded Onne port for 4 months. Those 4 months, nothing went out apart from Wood.
Is there any sense in that?
Nigeria does not have one tenth of China forest . Why is China not felling her woods?
Think again, simple minds.
Hello ZACHIE, please are you in Port Harcourt?
Re: FG Bans Woods, Charcoal Exportation. by stagger: 8:29pm On May 28, 2016
The solution here is easy. Anybody going into exportation of wood or charcoal must have an export license granted after that entity has shown concrete and verifiable evidence of having planted at least 50,000 trees. IBB started the "plant one tree everyday" campaign back in the early 90s. What happened to it?
