Nigeria chose well. According to Dirk Prins of ICP, out of 850 REVA APC operating around the world, only 1 has ever been destroyed (by a 155 mm Improvised Explosive Device – IED).

Senior Zimbabwean officers at AAD were quite taken with the Mwari. They ignored everything else at the Paramount stand and spent a long time observing the Mwari and talking to Paramount executives. Even were they interested, I see a problem for them because of Paramount's tie-up with Boeing on the Mwari.

Thanks for taking out time to post these photos you personally took. The SF commando, @Gees9 was referring to at the CSIR stand at AAD 16, you have a photo of him?

I saw a photo Zimbabweans discussing with Paramounts heads at the Mwari stand. I think the aircraft is decent, however, i don't think it quite cuts it. It would be great as an anti-poaching aircraft or a surveillance aircraft, but that's it.

I just wish it was built like a Tucano.

Never knew Proforce makes drone. This is a nice design tho and will be better if NAF can show more interest in developing a standard class UAV

They do. The government would soon make Proforce very profitable, they given him loans and 5 year tax breaks, and are still going to buy equipment from him. What we need now is, atleast 2 more companies to compete with them, and provide diversity.

NAF needs to build a standard MALE, i quite agree.

Is any of the drone operational yet and what else is Proforce into apart from the Armoured vehicles, boats and drone?

I just wish it was built like a Tucano.
It does come in 2 versions: the unarmed ARHLAC for purely surveillance and as a trainer; and the armed Mwari. It's not intended for conventional conflicts but will be excellent for COIN where belligerents are have no sophisticated MANPADS. Its major selling point will be price.

I missed the SF commando, but I did take this pic of a dummy also at the CSIR stand.

Very good choice for Zambia. Instead of the J-10, Namibia should go for this or the FA-50. Mali, Burkina-Faso, Ivory Coast and Cameroun should also consider the L-15.

Namibia should join Botswana in getting Gripens. SAAB and Denel have a full set up support serves in South Africa.

The Gripen is an expensive machine for small economies.... And besides, Namibia doesn't seem to like using weapon systems South Africa uses.

But that's my 20 cents.

Or, instead of starting from scratch, come in as 50% partner with Denel so the Bateleur -stalled after the prototype because of a lack of funds - can finally be developed.

There literally tons of photos available from AAD 2016. It sure was the most photographed event in Africa this year.

Since we are all on the Zambian L-15, here are some more.

Namibia prefers suppliers that don't ask too many questions grin besides the majority if not all Generals are from SWAPO so they will always favor "eastern bloc" weapons wink
But i hope with time our friendship with Brazil will translate into more sales

If Paramount can secure orders in the SADAC region, this would boost the desire for countries across the continent to pick-up units. Just one SADAC sale, Mozambique, Botswana or Zimbabwe.

Normal Police/Intelligence SF kitting. Cool.

Maybe sell the idea to the Saudis as the US refused selling them the Predictor. That could work out as the Saudis already have a stock of Denel's Impi Missiles they could integrate.

Namibian defence acquisition history shows they would go East. It is unlikely Namibia would go for the Gripen. With the J-10, they'll probably buy only 8 units, decent for their size but might be operationally expensive.

The other option would ordinarily be the L-15. With the L-15 they would be able to deploy more assets and is operationally cheap to operate, and offers more value.

I'm sure they would still go for the J-10, however the L-15 is a far better option. Modern, light attack aircraft.

Exactly. The Bateleur is the best option. A win-win, plus we get to gain more from the general structure of SA drone industry. These things can be done, it just seems as though, Policy makers are oblivious of the vast opportunities available.
