Op only scratched the surface. Nigerians mispronounce many more English words: but as "bort"(instead of "bat"; courage as "koh-rage" instead of "ka-rij"; bus is mutilated as "bors" instead of "bas"; senator is bastardized as "sena-toh" when the correct pronunciation is "sena-ta"(same with doctor - the correct pronunciation is "doc-ta", not"doc-toh"; even Nigeria is mutilated as "Nai-jay-ria" -the correct pronunciation is " Nai-jee-ria".

I cannot stand the way they say the name Deborah and Janet

Lol I remember when I pronounced "term" my class my students tried to correct me it's pronounced "tame" instead of "tam"
Another thing is the "the" aspect of English in Nigeria, even professionals now don't care about it it's now just "de" as in dere, broda, fada, Moda. If you try to pronounce it correct they laugh at you as a Hausa man.
