N2.2tn domestic borrowing used to fund budget —Minister

But the Minister of Finance, Mrs. Kemi Adeosun, while responding to enquiries from one of our correspondents, justified the increase in the debts.

The minister was asked what the money was spent on. She simply said, “I guess it would have been used to fund the budget and whatever government is spending money on.”

She said the government would continue to scale up spending in the area of infrastructure such as road, power and railway among others.

Invest borrowed funds in productive ventures, NLC tells FG

The Nigeria Labour Congress urged the Federal Government to utilise the borrowed funds to revamp the economy.

The General Secretary of the NLC, Dr. Peter Ozo-Eson, in an interview with Saturday PUNCH, said that while it was not bad to borrow to stimulate the economy during a period of recession, it was important that the money was put to productive use.

He advised that such funds should be committed to the creation of employment opportunities.

Ozo-Eson stated, “Well, with the economy in recession, we have all agreed from the beginning, we need a stimulus to turn the economy around. This is why the 2016 budget is hugely a deficit budget. That implies that you need to borrow in order to create that stimulus. It is the use to which we put what is borrowed that is important.

“If we plough it heavily into infrastructure and in creating employment, in the long run and in the medium- term, it will help to revamp the economy and then restore balance to fiscal operations. So we do not think that borrowing is bad, particularly in the period in which we have to stimulate the economy.”

She simply said, “I guess it would have been used to fund the budget and whatever government is spending money on.”

This tells us this woman is really not in govt.
A whole minister of finance telling the world "WHATEVER" the govt is spending the money on. So she does not actually know what govt is spending the borrowed money on?

Oh Lord Almighty, when will you rescue us from these people?

No wonder our reformed and far exposed NOI distanced herself from Buhari's cabinet.

Afonja....you see your lives? You want her there as your own Okonjo Iweala; when she is not even qualified to be a typewriter to Okonjo Iweala. Useless country where nepotism is the order of the day yet you wonder why the country is nose diving into the abyss. I hold Afonjas responsible for destroying this country, 1. conniving to elect certificatless president, 2. Giving us this local kiosk accountant as finance minister, 3. A lawyer in the ministry of works, housing and power who doesn't know what an ohmmeter or a road vertical curve is.

Buhari did not call them mere "noise makers" for nothing, that is why he avoided igbos in key position because they will bring their independent mindedness and challenge his cluelessness

No surprise, It takes a certificateless, superclueless bungler to appoint his fellow duffers. A sports minister who believes athletes do not need training,a finance minister who thinks recession is just a word, a science and technology minister who aspires to produce pencils in two years,an information minister who wants to generate jobs via masquerade dressing, an interior minister who uses his security to publicly shine his shoes rather than secure the interior of his country, an agriculture minister who fights for land for cows instead of farmers, a labor minister who threatens banks with revocation of license when they retrench workers due to bad economy, a communications minister who wants us to pay 9% tax on calls, a transport minister who gives one President credit for a railway built by another President, an economic adviser who wants women to donate their jewelry to help government fight recession and a Presidential spokesman who believes critics are ‘wailers’ all led by the certificateless cattle rearer who believes#ChangeBeginsWithMe not him, though he was the one who promised it!

Nigeria is in recession because of the ill-managements of buhari's administration.

PMB likes people like this around him. He doesn't want anybody outshining him.

They make him feel like a professor. Remember a town of blind men, the one eyed man is king. This is the case here.

When they fumbles it sweetens him.

He can't stand the guts of NOI. Even OBJ at a point could not.

How can a finance minister be guessing what 2.2trillion naira was used for? Anyway she is just an APC's sitting lame duck as other minister in the cabinet. If I were her I could have resigned long ago.
This is why I'll always give it to the Igbos for giving us sound economists like Charles Soludo,Ngozi Okonjoiwela,Tony Elumelu.

why are zombies evading this thread just as how their certificateless cattle rearer boycotted the presidential debates?? at least those gullible Nigerians would have discovered that he had no plans through the silly answers that he will provide in response to questions, and even if he had, the execution of such plans will be inimical to the economy.

I wonder why some people voted in someone that claimed to stabilize world oil price once elected president. Pathetic Zombies.
