Good Morning Nlanders. I am really bothered that is I am writing this as soon as I woke up even before saying my prayers... make I pause first abeg... Yes I am back. Recently my boss approved d employment of a new Secretary/Cleaner and attached her to my office. I supervise works in d organization and most times I make payments to external contractors like drivers, operators n mechanics.

Since she came in my imprest didnt add up on two occasions. Though I had my suspicion, I decided to gave her d benefit of the doubt. The last straw that broke d carmel's (actually my) back was d N28k I left in my locker (it doesnt have a lock) coming to work yday and I counted and it was 26k. Immediately I picked a brown envelope containing 5k earmarked for something else and lo and behold it was 4k. She simply said 'that one no complete too?'

Nobody has access to d office apart frm d both of us. and when I am out she is always in. She resumes before me daily. I told a colleague, he doesnt av any solution at hand.

I need your advice pls.

Edakun epp me... b4 100k go lost

That is bad. No pilferage is too small. She was recruited not too long and she has begun to put up such ugly behavior.

Well, as to what you can do, I would advice that you take things with care. Having tangible evidence would better help you when you lodge the complaint at the appropriate quarters.

She is number one suspect, not doubt, but then, she has not been caught. You can call and talk to her about the issue and let her know the gravity of the offense. If the same continues, seek for her redeployment.

You might want to help into your COY:

I'm rounding off my program this oct in "Purchasing and Supply Chain" and I want to do internship before being mobilized for NYSC next year

well, always keep ur money under her custody. In that way, she becomes responsible for any amount missing. Well, till you have tangible evidence to make a report.

" ...I left in my locker (it doesnt have a lock)..."

My advise - get a lock, doesn't cost much.

Bros, buy a lock and use it

It doesn't prevent her from stealing because i know those that can pick locks but it gives one extra hurdle to cross which might make her not to bother stealing

OP, truth is that almost every human would steal if they're SURE of getting away with it 100%

A popular locksmith said very true words

a lock doesn't keep bad people away, it prevents good people from turning to bad people

Confront her with facts and evidence, advice or get her reprimanded
Re: When You Work With Someone That Pilfers by freecocoa(f): 6:35am On Oct 02, 2016
If you can sack her, do so but if not, you just have to find a way to keep valuables away from her while finding a way to monitor and catch her in the act.undecided

Talk to your boss (both oral and written).

I don't know the size of your company but installing a CCTV camera across the environment isn't expensive. Aside curbing crime, it will keep employees "busy"and act responsibly all the time.

Also call a carpenter to fix the bad locks and install in places where there are non presently.

Today it is N2,000 tomorrow it is N10,000 don't let her have a chance to steal what you can't afford to miss or even do mistake steal your destiny. Lol!

According to the messed up thinking of some messed up Nigerians, exemplified in a guy called blackpanda here is NL, pilfer your own too and move on.

@op, simply call her and tell her you suspect she is the one stealing the money and give her good reasons for your suspicion.
Re: When You Work With Someone That Pilfers by Nobody: 7:10am On Oct 02, 2016
Well bro speaking from experience i will ask you to keep the money with her but ask her Lets see how she wants move it.

But th best solution is just to let her go, people like that when the aren't checked will only get worse
