U are indeed shallow minded... Did u even read thru to comprehend?? Didn't u read whr I mentioned reputable phone companies, didn't u read whr I mentioned cheaper fones like Samsung s3 or Microsoft or LG , these phones are cheaper, but produced by reputable companies with conspicuous track records... Sony xperia and techno are about the same price... U need not be repulsive mehn...take some chill pills dude

How is he sounding silly...he just said the truth...y is it only techno customers that do this on nairaland...if u wanna market ur phone, b free to do so , not by deceiving people into thinking u just bought it... In Nigeria, we work with reputable names...even if techno decides to produce water resistant phones, Nigerians will still opt for the major players( Samsung iPhone and its likes) ... Anybody that has good cash will not b caught dead with a techno phone...its like marketing cherry vehicles to Nigerians... I wud rather buy Samsung s3 or iPhone 5 or Sony experia or huawei or Microsoft or google or Lenovo or LG or Nokia or blackberry sef instead of these glorified chinco phones

Modified... When u travel out with techno, that's when ud know u got rubbish.... The phone only sells in Nigeria...how is their global market like? Hv u ever seen their business structure on any reputable business station...are they even in the capital market...hu is their CEO, how long have they been in existence? How healthy is their phones? What's their global track record? ... I hv watched on CNN how I phone lunched so as Samsung, Microsoft, Nokia , blackberry, huawei , google just lunched pixel...but hv never watched techno or its likes... Nigeria is the usual dumping ground... And some nuke heads come here to compare those chincos with world class phones... They are certainly oblivious to the fact that they are highly delusional
My grouse is not the fact that Tecno exists only in Nigeria or not. Also, it has nothing to do with me not being able to buy the phone or not. I just hate it when people bring what not with the so many hypes, only to discover that it's not worth it. I pre-ordered a device from aliexpress and it's quite expensive now, considering the weakness of the Naira against the Dollar.

I have no issues with an initial low end maker striving to become a high end producer. Why not launch the device in Nigeria They launched it elsewhere and dumped it here as usual. Regardless, a low end device is only what it is, irrespective of how it is packaged.

The colour is the first turn off.

I cannot spend my money on gold plated (coloured) phones.
Even if stealing is licensed and made legal, I still won't take it.
When they have the black variant, I'd come back to read the specs.

Your post reeks of anger and pull-him-down mentality.
Infact you sound like a Gionee marketer yourself.

Look at this one saying Tecno is overhyped.
Have you seen this thread that shows how the same Phantom performs against other devices? https://www.nairaland.com/3389246/see-benchmark-scores-tecno-phantom#49931163

How does your rant change the fact that asides the glorified powerbank your Gionee M5 plus is, It does not in any way rival Phantom 6 or even Phantom 6 plus.

Your likes complain about any and everything on Tecno. They produce phone with low RAM, you complain, they do higher one and you are here ridiculing them.
May your future not be ridiculed for ridiculing the efforts of another. Amen.

He does not need to buy the phone before he can authoritatively talk about the price. Has your hate beclouded your capacity to THINK?

Different companies have different strategies to get their products sold. Have you ever heard of experiential selling?

The facts are there to verify. If the OP tells me he noticed the phone uses 10 cores, I can always make my own research, so what exactly is your con?

If Tecno decides to select a few Tech savvy people like they are doing on their website bbs.tecno-mobile.com who aren't necessarily bloggers but everyday people to use their phones and give feedback, what is the big deal in that. For your info, they are called Beta Testers.

I have never hidden the fact that I have close friends, mostly expatriates who work for Tecno. I have handled this Phantom 6 even before it went viral in the market. I was among the privileged few who could tell what the specs would be. If I decide to put in a request that I will like to test the final version, how is that a crime?

I have no idea how OP got his device, whether he bought or was given or whatever....
Bottomline?

Your rant is unjustified.

Upon all these talks, the flagship Phantom 6 and 6+ still may not put Tecno back on the map

That's what the other guy was trying to pass across tho his words were not the right one to use

At the end of the day, it all boils down to sales
What is good will eventually sell - its a simple business law
So when it dosent sell, well, your guess is as good as mine wink

The Phantom 5 really did bad in sales.. Lets see how much this will put up grin

OP is obviously a Tecno marketer, just as you are. Your thread and his writing style gave you guys away. No shame in being a marketer of a product though but the Phantom 6 is not worth the hype. It is overpriced, and excessively hyped. Heaven knows I'd prefer a Gionee M5 over that RAM device. If I wanted to buy a RAM, I could go into the market to get one for myself. undecided

There's no way he would tell you this because he didn't buy it. Ask him to show you the receipt and that is the end.

Check some of the monikers hyping the phone on the thread, as well as their threads and posts. Just don't be deceived into parting ways with your money just because you want to buy a RAM.

Lool Haba nau what is this..? Fact of 6 months is what makes Tecno..?

While the phantom 5 was announced on September 2015 you're giving me a November 2014 to May 2015 chart

How does that add up?

Or is it because tecno floods the market with irrelevant devices like pure water from the M series to H, L, D, R, P, N, S, A, C, J etc
And each of those alphabets has at least 5 devices assigned under it.. If my math is correct, thats 50 different types of devices flooding the market made by Almighty Tecno.. Yet no breakthrough

Seems you're not getting the drift
How many of these tecno devices made a debut..? How many of them broke records..? How many of these devices actually made a hit..?

Infinix Hot Note sold over 500,000 units online in just a year

Infinix Hot 2 sold over 50,000 units online every month in Kenya
Infinix Hot 2 sold over 20,000 units online in 20 minutes in Nigeria

Infact, demands were so high, Infinix had to stop production as it will affect the sales of its successor - it was ground breaking

Samsung Galaxy Note 5 sold 75,000 units in the first 3 days online alone with the S6 edge+

iPhone 6 and 6 Plus sold 750,000 units in the U.S online in the first 10 days

Despite their outrageous prices, these devices still sold like pure water.. Lool grin

I don't even want to point out Xiaomi who on sales overtook Samsung, Apple, Huawei, Lenovo in Asia

I am still saying it, if you're good, you're good.. and what is good sells

...

Right now, I may not have enough statistics on phantom 5 to show their sales performance - it didn't even do well to be recorded

Lemme still ask you - How many phantom 5 do you see on a daily basis?? grin

People hate on Tecno because it's Tecno. I like that the people there are working to change that stereotype.

Those your Infinix figures tho....

A seller on Konga, not Konga itself o....is now the yardstick you use to judge how a phone does in the market? Just last week I bought a device for my boss (Tecno Droipad) today, he told me to get the same device again, Samsung s7 among others things.
When I searched Konga, I was directed to a seller and it was more expensive. So you see...while that particular Droipad may never receive patronage online, 3chub is making its bucks from my firm over same device.

Your pictorial evidence doesn't add up. The person who posted it did so to mock Tecno at the time. Admittedly, I have zero idea about phantom 5. Whether it sold or not is none of my business.

I became interested in Tecno from Boom J8 upwards.
If you want me to confidently engage you, start from boom j8.

Like I have always maintained....Tecno have not always had it right. I once rejected Tecno too. However, today, I am a believer.

Camon C8 was rubbish compared to Camon C9.
Phantom 5 is rubbishest compared to Phantom 6.

Lol @infinix and those figures you posted. Let me not talk much sha.
Lol
Just know that when it comes to Chinese OEMs, Tecno leads the pack as of today.

Whether it is a survey of 6 months or a year, I'm sure you are aware that stuff like this is carried out within a given time frame, right?

They are mapped out in Naija. Their latest devices are usually hits. They have given the bigger players a run for their money.

I'm not interested in their past.

Bottomline?

Your rant is unjustified.
calm down

Yours isn't even a rant, it's an outburst and it's also personal sef

On top wetin Na?

And u think expect people to believe you don't work for tecno? And still you support them aggressively

Lol
