Super Eagles technical adviser, Gernot Rohr, has disclosed that Enyeama will return to the national team if Nigeria qualifies for the 2018 FIFA World Cup Edition. The German stated this in an interview with completesports.com.

He responded with an answer that indicated that he made a successful attempt to call Enyeama and convince him to return from retirement to a question that was directed to him on if he will replace the arguably best goalkeeper in Africa with Carl Ikeme due to his recent impressive performance for the Super Eagles. According to him, both Carl and Enyeama will be very good goalkeepers for the Eagles, acting as surrogations for each other.

Yes, I said it that I wanted Vincent Enyeama to return from retirement and I called him and we spoke with him. He will come back if we qualify for the World Cup. We need very good goalkeepers in the Eagles. We have two local goalkeepers whom I don't know if they will fit in if Carl sustains an injury, so I think we need two big goalkeepers. Of course for this moment, Carl is number one. We cannot change him, he will be number one for the next game.

Ikeme is trying, let him continue.
How would he qualify the Super Eagles for the Mundial, only for Enyeama coming on to replace him?
What kinda "monkey dey work, baboon dey chop" be that?

Enyeama and the entire Lille FC team have been in a questionable form this season. Enyeama is not the same goalkeeper we used to know.

The way I see it, I think it will be better if he returns, although Carl has been impressive so far, but considering the fact that no other Nigerian goalkeeper is currently up to par with these two, then I think it will be apt to recall Enyeama, because if something should happen to Carl in case Nigeria makes it to the world cup, then we can have a reliable backup to deputise him.

I know he was a victim but if this happens, then Emenike also deserves a world Cup place too.

This is one of the advantage of a foreign coach, they don't make selections base on sentiments unlike the indigenous coaches, did you notice that Musa was on bench against Zambia, only to be later introduced at the last minutes of the game?

The german has made it clear that his selection will be based on current form. And I think Enyeama is already aware of this, and even if he may be an egomaniac, he ought to be matured and seasoned enough to allow decisions that are best for the team.

no nah ... African goalie's have shown that they depreciate with age which is against the European Ideal.
I remember peter rufia droping shoots to opponents foot against Denmark in 1998. & ike shorumu in 2002 saw retirement.

The coach said he is coming as a second choice since the second choices are not up to standard and if he no gree make he sitdon for him house

These Coaches know how to spoil their shows every time they think they are going to achieve success. Carl is doing good and the coach seems not to admire him but still have his eyes for Enyeama. How now do you expect Carl to give 101% to this coach and the super eagles in subsequent matches. Please can someone teach some of these coaches how and when to talk to boost the confidence of their players and not bring it down?
