DesChyko:I doubt if the president was thinking about genda issues at the moment he made the statement. It wasn't a genda debate, otherwise he would've chosen his words carefully. It was his political career that is at stake, and he felt should the world take his wife seriously, it will be a punch to his very image. At the same time he didn't want to prove that his wife is becoming a thorn to the flesh. So as the man that he is, he takes the way of humor to attempt to put the woman in her proper place. He was just been natural as an African. As a Nigerian and as a Muslim. In as much as it is true that we're still trying to reconcile this genda equality issue. The real us still haven't actually given a woman that place. So, to a typical African, the president is like saying see, no matter what she is doing, she is still under my control. His statement was born more of natural tendency than of political response. |

which is why I said that I am not surprised. the op confirmed what I stated in a previous thread that many men believe that a woman's primary place is in the kitchen. so nobody should be hypocritical and lash at our president. he only echoed what's on the mind of many males. |

Op, pls quit. Its either you're head bent on twisting the facts or don't understand the issues raised by Her Excellency, Aisha Buhari. Let me take it one point at a time: 1. "The president does not know 45 out of 50, for example, of the people he appointed and I don't know them either, despite being his wife of 27 years." Op, she did not say "the President did not know..." She said "the President does not know..." There is a huge difference in both. After appointment, the President should know and be working with those he appointed. Knowing them before appointment is not necessary, but after appointment, the President ought to know those he has appointed. This statement should worry all well-meaning Nigerians. The implication is that the President is out of touch with those he has appinted. 2. "Some people are sitting down in their homes folding their arms only for them to be called to come and head an agency or a ministerial position." Why appoint those who have not prepared themselves for a post? Her statement is figurative of disinterest on the part of those being called up to serve. It is therefore not a surprise that many assume office without knowing what to do. Smark leaders have their cabinet ready even at campaign stage. The manifestors will be authored section by section by those he intends to execute or implement it with. On this one, I give it to her Excellency, Aisha. 3. "He is yet to tell me but I have decided as his wife, that if things continue like this up to 2019, I will not go out and campaign again and ask any woman to vote like I did before. I will never do it again." Here you said "This is about the most ridiculous of all her statements! It smells arrogance and pompousness." I say this is very serious. For PMB to try to make it without the pillars of support that made him a success in the first place. First, Tinubu's support is eroded, now his very own dear wife! This is worrysome op. Stope pretending. ..And finally.... b]PMB’s “Aisha Belongs to My Kitchen” Comment[/b] Please read that statement again, and in full. It should worry you that our dear President could utter such incoherent statement. What is "my kitchen, bedroom and the other room?" Which other room please? Its just as if the man wasn't himself when he said that. We need to get full transcript of that interview to be sure his has the full complement of his faculties when he said that. PassingShot: |

Thing is, a lot of Buhari's supporters are like Trumps. Even if the grandpa president of Nigeria is videoed defecating in public, you will still see them coming up with hashtags like #iPooWithBoohari. Bunch of fellows with very low IQ. |

PassingShot:Thank you! In the first place and constitutionally, Aisha had no right whatsoever, to say what she said. Is she a member of any political party?? Is she a first lady (her husband said there's no office like that). She over-stepped her boundaries. Buhari has left her to do whatever she wanted all these while, but this time around, she messed up. She over-used her privilege. She abused her husband's silence and tolerance. If Buhari has always thought that she belonged to the kitchen, we wouldn't have known or seen her all these while, including that Zahra. But he gave them the freedom to act and she granted the interview to a whole BBC. Buhari said what he said go put her in check; to tell her that he's the man and in charge. I've never supported Buhari or APC or this adminstration but in this matter, #istandwithbuhari |

I personally cannot say anything against my husband or his prospect in public talk more of saying it to the press but I cant judge her cos i am not in her shoes and can't say what she has been going thru to make her statement. But her mistake statement doesn't earn Buhari some respect. Not after the talk about her being lower, trying to degrade her position in his home as if she actually do the cooking herself for him. Was she in the kitchen through out his campaign ? Sorry statements coming from old couples |

Don't mind those who don't know. This interview clearly shows the president's wife is clearly not getting her way like mama peace. An experience lady know better that his wife is his personal business and the affairs of state are his responsibility. She wants to amass and amass. The man wants good education for his children with which they will build their life upon. Bubu do not agree, Aisha should not be allowed to have a Dudafa and disgrace you and herself. Passingshot your opinion was impeccable. |

With all due respect the aisha bbc interview is one of the most dumb interview i have red on recent time. Tell me why she must know who the president appionts in the position of authority and how can the president know all the people he appionted into office.for truth sake, the president have people working for him and these guys are mostly ones recruiting the office holders based on their pedegree. Everything aisha said in the interview can simply be described as dumb. For your information i am not a fan of pmb but i have an objective mind and does not hesitate to say the truth. |

I agree with all you have said especially this part "This is about the most ridiculous of all her statements! It smells arrogance and pompousness." If you understand Hausa language and expression, you will definitely see the arrogance in what she was saying. |

Teespice:He said sitting room and other room. Do you want him to say instruction to Accountant General and MD NNPC? She has no right to know or be consulted on all his appointments. Infact the comment on knowing appointees is untrue, she knows 85% of his appointees personally, by reputation or filial and fratanal links. If she does not she should do a Google, Facebook, Bing or Yahoo search or check and advise her husband accordingly. |
