United were very dominant in those years and won some seasons with double digit points difference. The stats also say that you are wrong as United have been awarded the least number of penalties of all the big clubs over the last 14yrs.
Conspiracy theorists would always have an excuse and a fall back explanation so of course every little advantage in Uniteds favour is overblown while those calls that go in favour of other clubs are swept under the carpet.
